Mr. Tony Rice is tops in every way.
Sail on, Tony. RIP
Tony Rice will forever be a pioneer in Music of all styles and genres... He was amazing way back then and He is truly amazing now! He started some things on the acoustic guitar that many have tries to copy, (myself included) but none have mastered the way that he has. I am thankful for musicians like Josh Williams, and Brian Sutton that are continuing the tradition for instrumentation in music that will be passed down for generations to come! Thank God for the ones who have come before us showing us the way and giving us one heck of a place to start!
bryn davies is not only beautiful but i love her style on the bass
that gentle sway
There are bass owners.. and then there are bass Players... Davies is a bass Player.
Great bluegrass musicians all and especially Tony's guitar sound whether its his ole Martin or a newer Santa Cruz !
Bryn, you are one SEXY Bass player!!
Bryn Davies is one SEXY Babe!
What fun to hear all in this group, that this set is up on CZcams. Josh has made a great thing possible in his over work the years, and it's great to hear his own vocal style coming out on these songs. It's very nice to hear Rickie Simpkins, who seems to channel Stephane Grapelli in moments as part of his playing now, adding to all the interest he's made along the way of Tony's bands. Bryn is a treasure, Wyatt's playing an increasing pleasure, and Rob carries the sound through. Thanks to all!
Josh is awesome.
@LongTallYamlaJay
You have to be joking... that is Josh Williams doing vocals and mando... he is great.. as well as everyone on the stage.. they came to NJ a while back, but I couldn't make it.. I would have loved to see these folks...esp Tony Rice...
That bass player. Wow
Josh is the MAN, by the way . . . .
bluegrass rules.
If I may also paraphrase Doc Watson. When questioned regarding the "handicap" of not being able to "read music," he said "isn't music sound?" Seeing music being made might be part of a culture, but since the invention of recording and schizophonia, music has only been even more about sound. It's performance might deliver something to some in some place, but what does it deliver way over yonder, might be the question.
I might also add that I bought Manzanita and my first 6 Tony albums in Bangkok
All I can say is SON!
Tyler Kirkpatrick g
I hear a dobro.
@LongTallYamlaJay Is there ANYTHING AT ALL that you can do other than criticize? I very much doubt it!
man hes getting kinda crusty lookin but man can he still play
Clayton Skala
@MrJimc2 I CAN quote Dylan, "but one time he could have been the champion of the world."
As far as vocals for any Tony Rice Unit line up go--even Tony Rice half-way soundalikes are preferable. Maybe he should hire Richard Bennett. I bet Wyatt is a decent singer, perhaps just a bit shy. Now Larry was a bit too country for some, but he still had the Rice genes and tones.
Josh is fantastic!
You're kidding right! with all the awesome things happening on that stage all you can do is bash the vocalist, how sad!
Sorry to say, but what a middling vocalist to take on a Tony Rice classic.
LongTallYamlaJay
Yeah I don't think he's the best singer. He's too successful for mediocrity and sloppiness.
His vocals are excellent for the song. Yours, I suspect, would suck though.
FFS, this moron is calling Josh Williams mediocre and sloppy. One of the most ridiculous comments I have ever seen on CZcams.
