    About Papadakis Racing
    The Papadakis Racing team began drifting in 2004 and is the most winning team in Formula Drift history, earning the 2021 and 2015 championship titles with driver Fredric Aasbo, as well as back-to-back championships with driver Tanner Foust in 2007 and 2008.
    This season, Fredric Aasbo returns to defend his title in the Rockstar Energy Toyota GR Supra, while Ryan Tuerck also returns to the team to drive the Toyota Corolla hatchback.
    Team owner Stephan Papadakis is a legend of sport-compact racing who began building his reputation in the 1990s with the first front­-wheel­ drive, tube-­chassis drag car in the U.S. The team earned multiple records and championships in the discipline, turning in elapsed times and trap speeds previously thought unattainable in front­-drive drag cars. Papadakis' successes in front­-wheel drive were matched by his efforts in rear-­wheel drive when he campaigned just the fifth car to join the NHRA's Sport Compact 200 MPH club.

    Just a tip in Cura, look at "Enable Support Interface" and then "Support Roof" which adds a few solid layers of support so you get a nice uniform result on the under side of your prints, as well as an easier removal of support! If you do this, be sure the "Support Interface Density" is set to 50% or higher! Great video!!

      @@b3nny90 I've become a fan of tree supports myself lately. Seems to offer faster prints, less wasted material, and sometimes easier to remove, depending on the complexity of the print

      One nitpick, that desk is in a dire need of a mechanical keyboard upgrade.
      It just doesn't "feel right" for big Poppa to use such a badly designed keyboard when infact everything around him is god tier on an engineering level.
      A man of his stature clearly deserves a better keyboard. Especially one with QMK macros for lightning fast productivity. Shit, someone can probably even make him a purpose built board only for CAD macros with custom labeled keycaps.

      Just don't call it " cad design" . We use our cad to design things then we use our cam to post the g code for our CNC machine.

    Steph always gets me excited to design things for my own car. This is infinitely more entertaining to me than other car CZcamsrs that are just doing the same old thing all the time.
    I hope one day after I graduate someone like Papadakis would employ me for this kind of thing. It is so fun to do.

    Looking forward to the CAM portion of this project. I've always had to use Siemens NX for CAM and I've always hated how convoluted that interface is! So maybe I can switch over!

    As a hobbyist and small business 3D Printing enthusiast, it's so cool for me to see professional applications of it all. Also, watching you in CAD was amazing and gave me a few tips and tricks myself that I need to try with some of the designing I do in house.

    Learning exactly this stuff in college right now, this is a fantastic basic video that gives you a really good idea of what all goes in to using solidworks!
    It sounds almost exactly like the videos our professor posts for us to double check ourselves against, and given it'll be going into 3D printing it seems like it's going a step beyond what we're even being taught! Thank you so much man, this is awesome!

    Id love to see an episode on how you make the bushings you print for the intercoolers and such come to life. Im experimenting with TPU now to make different things and im just fascinated with it.

    I use SolidWorks everyday. This is well presented and to the point. 👍 Only thing I typically do differently is model the solid part and add all features after, including holes, etc. This allows for editing without going back to the original sketch and allows the user to reorder the features in the feature manager.

      not only that, if you use the hole wizard for any hole, when you create the 2d drawing it imports all of the screw-hole info directly. The hole wizard is amazing, it even has support for PEM inserts!!!

    You can use CA glue for PLA bonding. It's a lot quicker and holds PLA very well :)

    To save you from importing and aligning your logo twice, you can create an axis referenced to the front plane and the centreline of the handbrake and then use the circular pattern tool to copy it to the other side :)

    Lovely video. I have access to Solidworks, thanks to my University, so from time to time I design and 3D print some custom parts for my motorcycle, few of them got manufactured. But I wanted to say, it was really fun to watch and listen to your peerspective on designing, where you start, how do you use the tools, all that stuff. 😎

    Trim tool in Solidworks seems to be more powerful than in Fusion. In Fusion it tends to delete constraints and create issues. Always interesting to see how other people do CAD, for me a part like this would be done entirely from a single sketch.

    It amazes me the number of things people design and make that could amputate body parts that could be made safe if they just thought What If?
    Having folded back a finger when it got caught by such an opening just reaching to grab my sunglasses before my passenger sat on them I quickly taped over those fancy finger grabbers.

    This is my job as a machine operator/machinist. SolidWorks, print, approval, CAM or hand program Gcode, first article and manufacture. Not a bad gig, doesn't require college but I have a bachelor's and it's $17/hour. So more than dominos

    My robotics shop is fortunate enough to have everything we could ever need, besides a cnc for metal though. So if we did something like this, it would be a little less ergonomic but more practical to build. And for gluing together 3D prints, I would suggest contact cement because it takes less time to become secure for testing. The trade off is that it’s very toxic and doesn’t store as well as epoxy.

    You don't need that much support material. 3D printers can't print in only air but they can bridge two towers together depending on the distance. Set up your bridging settings properly (more fan to cool the plastic bridge faster) and print some bridge tests. You could probably get away with just one small sliver of support down the middle or no support at all.

    I’m surprised you did no strength tests or calculations? With think those would be important in choosing how much material to cut away/ how large the hexagons can be
