Honestly I think it's completely possible that Rowan is just trolling them most of the time. He randomly has moments of like complete lucidity where he's like a razor sharp super competent and aware manager.

7 set up a particular story, and was OK.
8 threw that story out the window and made a joke out of *most* of the cast from the first film, devolving into slapstick at some points. And the writing sucked.
Then they tried to bandaid it together with 9. It watched like someone reading a "choose your own adventure" written by multiple people book to you.
@@nicholashodges201 7 8 and 9 were all dogwater, I could go into chrater and writing flaws seen even in episode 7- finn for example should have been like, a trauma patient- and should have seen other troopers as people- instead he started cracking jokes and killing them like, immediately and with no remorse - he should have been a quite, stoic character, used to keeping full gear on, with him coming to grips with being free towards the last film, finally keeping his helmets off and started to crack jokes more normally
I love how Rowan effectively changed what colored shirts managers and workers are supposed to wear because he felt self-conscious about how he looked. Lol

Wait if black shirts have more power then that was when the employees were in power where if they were in toxic environments they can strike but Rowan came in and took the black shirt and replaced it with his red shirt giving him the power. He controls the paycheck and he has union busting ways making him a power hungry man. It’s possible that the black shirt corrupted him

@@UnivSoldier He was possessed by the ghost of Rodney, if you re-watch the first dozen or so you will see Rowan disappears and is only normal for the short time Rodney is back around. That's why he lost all tech skills and can bring people back to life.
The further into the series you get the less Rowan gets what's coming to him. Id love to see Rowan get his more often. It's hilarious.
The series are very much about Rowan's character development. In the beginning he was very awkward and got abused by Alan. Then he grew more of a spine, but overdid it, becoming cruel and pushing his one friend away. For a moment he seemed to even mourn the friendship (when he wasn't invited for drinks), but seems to have gone past it. Then after being abused by Rowan his employees also occasionally show violent tendencies (white shirt, Christmas music). There's almost a moral to it about how to treat others. :D
Rowan was so friendly and nice in these early episodes! Up until his mind began to gradually break apart, shedding one strand of sanity at a time, and spiraling into the abyss of madness!

One great thing about this series is that I don't think there's a mainstream show out there where I like every character equally. They nail that here. What a team!
Drew talbert is also very good. It's very similar but he plays all the (twenty or so) characters and it's set in a restaurant.
I love the commitment to the joke of keeping the shirt colors swapped after the give me the black shirt episode.
So Rowan got so offended at Alan’s rejection to his love for Episode I that he decided to become an abusive tyrant forever. As one does.

That's when he gained his courage. Before that he was so awkward in comparison. Alan had to remind him that he's the manager not the other way around.

I think one of my favorite continuities is Rowan's fear of women, culminating in the skit "the hot chick" with him ending up near comatose on the floor, down to the detail of not realizing she was making a pass at him by asking for his number, which was subtle but a nice touch, which showed he was still actually clueless.
Dude... That was totally me until last year. Then my current girlfriend basically grabbed me by the ear, smacked me silly, and told me no more excuses.

That was the real Rowan. And not the doppleganger we have now. He took Rowan place and kept it ever since.
I usually don't react to videos out loud, but Rowan standing in the office overlooking the absolute drama caused by hiring new people makes me emit the most evil, glass-shattering laugh.
So we're all just going to pretend like Rowan is still Rowan and not actually the evil janitor that killed him in the parking lot
The thing is,at the end of this supercut we see him not as rowan,plus the whole golden shirt thing confirmed that rowan getting killed wasn't canon.
Edit: I just realised the janitor is supposed to be a ghost. So rowan died,switched roles,and than appeared as the janitor in the golden shirt saga

This feels like rare archival footage of when Rowan actually had hair. It appears all the stress of being a manager has finally caught up with him.
These first 100 episodes of bored will always have a special place in my heart. The amount of joy and comfort and laughter I get out of this series is the least I could say. This series has gotten me through deployments!! Thanks guys for everything

Its interesting how 2 years ago, Rowan was the one that was the most relatable and we followed throughout these skits, but slowly as time went on it became Alan, who originally was the secret monster of the store became the one we follow.
I love the restraint the League uses on their funniest reoccurring bits. Like Rowan running away, Alley and her pay, and poor poor Hamish. Poor Hamish

@@definitelynotat-rex72 I discovered this too. After they go to the new store and meet Rodney, there's a switch off where Rowan slacks off and Rodney takes his place. After a while, he starts getting good, learning on the job, and when Rowan gets jealous, he tries to kill Rodney. The ending scene is where Rodney appears in the back of the car, and Rowan screams. The very next episode, they "repeat" episode 1 and some of the earlier episodes in the new store, however his hair stays long and curly, like Rodney's, and from that point on, you never see Rodney again. Where did he go? Why did Rowan scream? Also, After that event, Rowan starts turning more evil, as you can see from the plotting of hiring new people.
Further evidence, we know that Rodney is supposed to be a ghost of sorts that can materialize into a physical body at will. We see this ability demonstrated when he just appears in front of characters out of nowhere. In the Cookie Monster episode "Rowan" is seen to have this very ability, whenever Alan turns off the lights, he is able to appear and disappear in an instant, right before our eyes.
tl;dr Rodney killed Rowan in his car, devoured his soul, and "became" Rowan, but more evil.

So either they switched back OR by devouring Rowan, Rodney took over Rowans bad traits...

Going back and watching these again, Rowan’s “start of darkness” was caused by a disagreement about Star Wars and that ate at him and he became worse and worse as a defense mechanism.

Hm, interesting theory, though i tend to think that he was changed after when he was caught in the car with Rodney in the backseat. We never saw what happened after that was cut after all, and i believe that might've been when he broke, or at least started to.
I love how at 1:10:41 they all literally became Baradun, Greg and Bodger. Rowan goes full on rage mode, Adam is completely oblivious and Allen comes running in out of no where with a golf club.
I love it when Rowan does in fact NOT get the last cookie and goes into fatal error mode when Adam gets the last piece instead. It's a magnificent work of art, that is.
Omg, when I started watching these Bored video's, I thought they are just one-off skits. But wow, they actually continue series with believable character development. Man I love this channel

ANd when you check out emulators most of the time when they are kind of new it's always "mac verson coming soon" and they make it obvious that it's a pain in the ass to do.

It really seems to me that this was the intent with the series for a while but that they pulled back on that because they needed a villain for the white shirt saga and Rodney was the only character they had on hand. Was Ben not around yet at that time? He would have been great pulling the strings there rather than Rodney.
Even to this day, it seems more believable that Rowen is Rodney with how we see so often that he's an incredibly capable though unorthodox salesman where we're led to believe in the early episodes that he has no real skills to speak of. I guess the real incredible twist would be if Rowen really is Rodney even after the shirt sagas as some larger plot to solidify his leadership.

I've heard even Peter Jackson made movies based on the story and J.R.R Tolkien wrote books about it.

So, I just put together by Adam's comments after being hit by a car playing Pokemon Go, that he was trying to call 911. Rowan then thought he was dying and was trying to get the pokemon, so he "helped" him. Then just left Adam, who had to crawl to the hospital.
Adam was just trying to call for help, and Rowan assumes he's trying to catch a Pokemon before he died.

Man this takes me back. I started watching when they literally created the channel and had like 2 or 3 videos. We were all so young back then.. i am so glad they've made it and are successful content creators. Rowan and Alan deserve it, as well as Adam. Even Ben deserves some credit as he was a big part early on in expanding the world building. Everyone else they're hired on has just made the channel better.and better as well.
