I bought the camper new in 2019. There are many options that you can add on, including a toilet, kitchen, and road shower. I did not bring all my accessories this trip. The base price is less than quoted. You can make it what you want depending on your needs. :) The 2020 has many new offerings and the new HCT has a full, wet bathroom.

It's too small for what I'm looking for but I'm utterly and completely in love with the vintage "nod" to this trailer...the chrome, 50s style lettering, the chrome strips and the "nod" to the "baby moon" rims. Someone had a secret love for yesterday :) I usually hate these little "egg shell" campers and I hate post-1980 campers. I could go for this if it at least had a port-a-potty and an outside shower. Love the subtle vintage though...

If they become competitively priced with Casita they'll probably develop more of a following and community. At more than $30k it's way overpriced IMHO. For that money it should include a gigantic lithium battery bank and massive solar capable of off grid ac, lights, fridge, and hot water standard. It is nice though. @@calgal5752, ya, it is pricey but they are extremely well made. The base price for a 16' Airstream Basecamp is $38,400. The base weight on the Basecamp is 2,650 compared to the HC1 at 1,100. The HC1's biggest customer is someone like me with a Subaru Outback with a towing capacity of 2,900 lbs. It was created to look retro vs. the butt-ugly WTH were they thinking Basecamp. The HC1 has a fiberglass double hull shell ... this sucker isn't likely to ever leak and it sure won't rust (which is a big deal for us coastal dwellers). I also like that with the HC1 you build it how you want it. No cheap bs cabinets and built-in kitchen/bathrooms you may not ever use. The HC1 is more for someone who isn't looking to haul around every amenity ... it's for someone who wants to camp but still wants a comfortable, dry, roomy customizable trailer to camp in. They're not built for everyone but there are a lot of people buying these!

We’ve been looking at this camper ever since they were a fledgling company in California. The sheer versatility of the modular concept is beyond intriguing. You don’t see it here, but you can totally move all those cubes outside to make furniture to crash on while at the campsite. Plus, how light it is seals the deal for us. Our “no tow package” Ford Explorer can haul this thing, easy peasy. We’re planning on ordering one with our tax return next year! 😁

We considered this for a hot second - then realized how inconvenient the “conveniences” actually are for people who camp. My daughter and son-in-law love this camper but the price without standard necessities is tough to overcome. If you camp often, it’s easy to rule out bringing furniture in and out of the camper. It looks great in the romanticized videos, but most of what sits outside my teardrop smells of campfire smoke and can get pretty dusty...and when night falls- things get damp fast. I would not want to sleep on something that had been outside my tent or teardrop all day. Also, if you’re hiking, kayaking or just enjoying the day away from your campsite, you’d have to bring it all in each time. Living in the Northeast, popup showers happen.
      Lots to really think about.

A big plus: the option to have two single beds! They are very expensive, they don't have showrooms on the east coast, they take a long time to make, and their customer service was very slow to respond to my email inquiries. I was very interested initially because their videos show them being pulled by Jeep Renegades. At this level of options, it looks like this unit couldn't be pulled by a Renegade. They also didn't seem have adequate insulation for very cold weather, or suitable options for off road, off grid. Basically this seems like a yuppie camper, starting with basic shell. By the time you add the features required, unless you were going to camp in CA all year, it is way too much money.

On a trailer this size you don't really need to move around much so you don't need to stand up! You can almost reach everything from a seated position. Just slide one way or the other a foot or two on the cushions and you can reach everything.

@@WonderfulPresent I've had it since June! Maybe I'd consider getting the fan along with the AC. I'm in the south and it gets HOT! So AC was a must, but I didn't get the fan since I was getting the AC. But I wish I would have gotten the fan as well! I'll be just fine without it. we just won't stay anywhere during the summer that does not have any electricity so that's a simple fix!

Single axle trailer once it's just too bouncy the size is okay it just said it needs to have two axles to keep it Seated on the road better. Also every RV needs a built in toilet and shower no matter what the size is. The components inside remind me of some of the small yachts and boats in the harbor they have a lot of convertible uses also. I find the little trailer kind of refreshing, it's just light enough for a small car, and I think it's idea for one or two people. I don't know if I'd want to live in there full time, but sure we can do sand small trips I think it's more than adequate if it just was more self-contained. I also think it needs an awning which has sides on it so you can have an expanded screened-in room on the outside in the back to be outside more in the spring summer and fall months. Small units like this where great when you have expandable outside temporary rooms it gives you some area To get outside and work around specially if you're a tall person or person in a wheelchair or handicapped or a senior. Being handicapped in a small trailer this is a little too confining. Thank you for sharing it was very educational and I'm going to look for these on the road.

Hi! There is a toilet cube, road shower, and kitchen option. The beauty of the HC1 is that you can take out pieces you don’t need based on the trip/needs. There is also a back screened extension that works off the back hatch. So many possibilities! Check out their website. :)

Rice, Texas.....you have to go there for a 17’ Cassita with Wet Bath that will list under $25K. Not double hulled for sure but unless you winter camp in Leadville I’m not sure that’s worth an extra $10K for a 13’ camper without facilities. I figured it would be higher than a cat’s back when it said made in my home state of California. Carbon monoxide alarms everywhere no doubt. Fine vid & presentation. Thank you!

For the craftsmanship and the flexibility and design the Value to Price is all there. This trailer is a work of Art and a lifetime investment- the rear hatch is a game changer as the living space is easily extended to the outside. This is small trailer design brilliance with minimal upkeep. When you see one in real time wanting one becomes small trailer obsession.

If they're able to get their price down and get their modular system more functional, maybe, but dunno who buys it in the meantime.
