The Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated by people of Chinese ethnicity all around the world yearly on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese Lunar Calendar. It is the 2nd biggest festival celebrated by Chinese people after Chinese New Year. The Mid-Autumn Festival usually corresponds to mid-September to early October of the Gregorian calendar. The Mid-Autumn Festival is also known as Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival. It is associated to the moon because on this day, a full moon can be seen at night.
Traditionally, lanterns of all shapes and sizes are lit up and they are carried around and displayed on this day as part of the celebration. The lanterns are known as symbolic beacons that light people's path to prosperity and good fortune. Besides that, mooncakes are also traditionally eaten on this day. Mooncakes are a rich pastry typically filled with sweet-bean, yolk, meat or lotus-seed paste. However, contemporary mooncakes come with all kinds of shapes and sizes and with a variety of flavors.
The Moon Represents My Heart (月亮代表我的心 ; yuè liàng dài biǎo wǒ de xīn) was a romantic love song originally recorded and performed by Chen Fen Lan(陈芬兰) (1972/1973). This song was then popularized by Taiwanese songstress, Teresa Teng Li Chun (邓丽君), in the year 1977. This song has also stood the test of time and it is one of the most evergreen Mandarin Chinese love song that is still loved by many people around the world. Although this song is not a song specifically for the Mid-Autumn Festival, I somehow always relate this song to the Mid-Autumn Festival because of the word 'moon' in its title. This is a beautiful love song in which the persona of this song describes her true love for her lover after being asked by her lover how much she actually loves him.
This is my own personal rendition of this song and I hope you all will enjoy it as much as I did playing this.
