I just have a quick question on its usage in getting gross alpha/beta measurements with the Ranger Radiation Alert survey meter. When I'm in the counts mode with the wipe test plate inserted on the Radiation Alert slots (with no sample), the Ranger Radiation Alert will give me the total alpha background count, right (since the wipe test plate acts as a beta shield)? Then how do I get the background beta count? And how do I get the actual alpha and beta count with the sample swipe filter paper attached to the slot on the wipe test plate? Please assist.
