इस मंदिर के पीछे एक बहुत बडी और वैभवशाली परंपरा रही है। कई साल पहले अपना इकलौता बेटा प्लेग में खोने के बाद श्रीमंत दगडूशेठ और उनकी पत्नी लक्ष्मीबाई, इन दोनों ने इस गणेश मूर्ती की स्थापना की थी। उसके बाद अब हर साल ना केवल श्री दगडूशेठ का परिवार बल्कि आसपास के सभी लोग भाव-भक्ती से और बडे जोश के साथ गणेशोत्सव मनाते रहे।
