yeah Izzet is a tough one for me too! but I'm glad you might have found some inspiration here! I genuinely love the way this deck plays, and it allows for some super fun plays!
Beebles all of them all 3 legal ones if you didn't mention them. And spiny starfish is I think a slept on card because in theory if you could generate that infinite mana you could generate infinite starfish given you can regenerate as many times as you can pay that 1 blue mana.
oh my god i'm absolutely buying the beebles and putting them in here. also unfortunately that's not the case. when I first came across that card i thought that's what it did as well, but it technically has to be destroyed to regenerate it with it's mana ability. so no infinite starfish unfortunately 😥
Built this deck exactly like you said: got Volo and the Performer and then just went through my box of coomons and uncommons. My deck is completely different then yours. I took it to my LGS for Friday night Mtg and... won!

This has also given me the opportunity to run other fun cards (besides the aforementioned Hot Soup) like Shiny Impetus, Psychic Impetus, Goblin Diplomats, and Angler Turtle. Thankfully, I had spare copies of Kelpie Guide, Psychosis Crawler, Bronze Walrus, and Wizard Class. To fit similar purposes (and to use stuff both binder and bulk), I put in Jandor's Saddlebags, Second Wind, Crab Umbra, Tolarian Kraken, Body of Knowledge, Walking Atlas, Sphinx of the Second Sun, The Locust God (still don't like him though), Quickling (best faerie ever printed besides Moonshae Pixie and Nightveil Sprite), Tectonic Hellion, Dreamscape Artist, and Flamekin Herald. No Niv-Mizzet iterations in the 98, because Terror of Mount Velus is taking up my build's dragon creature slot, and my additional double strike sources are Lizard Blades (equipment lizard) and Berserkers' Onslaught. Since Popular Entertainer says combat damage, I was hoping to add more double strike dudes as well as extra combat steps (Karlach, Fury of Avernus).
Tawnos the Toymaker would be another great commander for bulk tribal. There are tons of janky birds and beasts.^^ Gotta get Donal in there if you go with birds though. Just play janky beasts and birds and have fun making tons of copies.^^ And, yes, I'm irked that's there's a commander that has actual synergy with Craterhoof Behemoth and I can't bring myself to put him in cause he's sooooooooo boring.>

Bronze Walrus is a great card because even if it gets blown up, it still gains you card advantage with the Scry 2.
