    I know this is an old video but I have to say that before removing the pointers turn on the ignition and note where they are pointing. Yu can even make a sketch. Before putting them back on turn on the ignition and position them where they were pointing before disassembly. If you look at the end of this video you will see that the speedo pointer isn't positioned properly. I was an engineer at a factory that makes the dash instruments. There is much more to them than meets the eye.

    Thank you! My daughter's bug had the engine overheat and die because of a small water leak that was not detected due to the temp light on the dash having failed. We replaced the engine, then traced the original fault to a bad dash cluster. The new cluster worked perfectly, but the immobilizer was an issue. I sent the ECM off to be reprogrammed and did the light delete according to your instructions. The total price was $150 for the delete including shipping. The car works perfectly now and we never have to worry about the key issue ever again. Money well spent.
    Again, thank you, thank you, thank you!

    I have an 05 jetta tdi with a serious communication issue. Seems the most serious impact of the problem is the immobilized not allowing the car to continue running when started. If I can bypass the communication issue by removing the immobilized, I would have one less lawn ornament, because the car is fine for a month then not for two months.

    We jumped my VW Jetta Wagon 2.0 with the cables crossed on the source side. I changed the ECU and after watching your video realize that I'll have to turn-off the immobilizer or bring it in to the dealer to have it programmed. Could I put the old ECU back and test to see if the relays got fried first meaning that the ECU is still good? Then through P.O.E. move to removed the chip inside the new ECU if necessary? As you can tell I'm not a mechanic or electrician; I'm a handyman who is determined to save money. :)

    Thank you Ryan! I'm trying to crank my old 99 New Beetle and the power switch is not felt like when I swing it, you know when we switch power switches they're like steps felt, it actually feels like swinging loose. Then nothing. No sound on the starter, no sound from none of the panel signs nothing so someone told me is the 409 relay. I pulled it, but I need to find out the story behind the reason why a relay can be so powerful that even the swinging steps or sounds aren't even felt. I feel those feelings are more physical than electrical so I think my power switch is presenting problems.
    What do you or anyone think, will be highly appreciated!

    Anyone dissembling an instrument cluster should be wearing gloves to not be leaving any fingerprints and making it evident that it was tampered with! I had to remove my cluster to replace both the MPH and Fuel gauge motors since they broke internally. I was able to get two new motors and replace it and are working like new again. But it is very difficult to get those needles back in place!! It is best to put the cluster back in the car and measure where to set the needles back in. It's not easy and you must not be in a rush!! You must be patient while performing this task. If you don't set the needles back in the correct position, then your gauges will be off, not giving you any accurate readings!!! Wear gloves to not leave behind fingerprints and oils from your hands.

    • @andrewsaunders1796
      @andrewsaunders1796 Před 6 lety +1

      If you need to remove your needles then I find that putting them back on very easy.Just put them back on at around about the 2 o'clock position then wind them clockwise to around the 7 o'clock position then bring back anticlockwise until you feel resistance on the needle until they are where they need to be.I haven't had an issue doing it that way and I have removed my needles many times.Your clocks may well be different to mine so I can't guarantee it will work the same for you as it does on my mk4 Golf.I hope this helps.

    Hope this was said earlier, but want folks to know: don't handle rodent nests with bare hands! Best to also wear a mask. If you vacuum, do it with one with a good filter and empty while still wearing a mask.
    Then take the gloves off and wash your hands and face. Better, take a shower.
    Rodents don't have a bladder or sphincter, so instead always leaking urine. Plus, carry all sorts of disease.
    Even with a mask and gloves, still got sick and ended up in the ER.
    Worse Ryan handles his nose after touching the nest, then the ECU. If someone to handle that ECU later, they could get sick.
    Hope this helps.

    Hey I noticed someone who owned my car before me has cut wires from the "TC 800" box, I think it's the tcm and there is a key wired to a relay close to the box under my dash. The car starts just fine, I have no weird issues except, after driving the car about 30 minutes, I noticed that the positive battery terminal gets pretty hot, hotter then I think it should get. Could this be from the immo/tcm being messed with. I am pretty good with electrical systems but with euro cars I'm so lost.

    Had Malone IMMO Delete done to my ECU on a 2008 Jetta. Now it shows SAFE displayed on the instrument cluster. Is this a normal situation after doing an IMMO delete on a mk5?

    on about 1:30 into the video , u saying u gonna take the ecu and mail it to vw.com , WHERE U GOT IT FROM . that means that at the time of the video , u had an ecu sent to u by them where they deleted the immo , BEFORE u are sending yours to them ? i mean , it is pretty confusing . if u can explain it step by step at a chronological time of events please

      Yep, that's what I like to know too. Where is the ECU coming from, with IMMOBILIZER deleted? That seems to be the hard part of the entire operation and would be nice, to have it explained.

      Why are there so many problems with these VW beetles? I know this lady that's having a similar problem and asked me if I wanted to buy the car? Hell no, because if I take it to a shop I'll probably end up paying double for the car. Changing my mind about VW beetles they sound like too much trouble!

    can you still use the remote lock and unlock stuff? how do you use the fob remote part on a new unprogrammed key?

    • @oatmilk4278
      @oatmilk4278 Před rokem

      In my experience, a fob with a battery and no chip should work, I broke the chip trying to transfer it,which is why I'm on this video, but the fob does unlock and lock the car no problem

    I need your help! 2005 VW Beetle GLS convertible 1.8L turbo, new battery, new passenger door lock actuator, new battery in the key fob. I can open the door via the lock blade, start the car, drive all day long. BUT, I cannot get the key fob to connect to the car to use the alarm/lock/unlock/trunk. I only have the one key, and have tried putting the key in the ignition, shutting the door, turning the key to the On position without turning on the car and clicking lock button on the door, followed by holding down the Lock button on the fob, but nothing. Tried splitting the fob and putting the blade in the ignition (again, in the On position), removing the lock barrel from the drivers side door and using a screwdriver, turning the lock to the right for ten seconds. I then clicked on lock, waited 2 seconds and clicked again, but nothing. Not sure what other tricks there are to getting the fob to connect to the car :( Any help you can give would be golden, and greatly appreciated :)

    Can I not simply replace all the tumblers in my mk4 golf with new ones that come with new keys that have no chips in them to program by simply removing my current immobilizer chip from my current properly functioning key and securing it near the ignition in the steering column plastics?

    • @albrrt430
      @albrrt430 Před 2 lety

      Yes, I've done that before, just take the transponder out of the good key and stuck it to the steering column, now just a cut blade will start the car

      Check power and ground to the relay primary side. If power and ground are there then its a bad relay.
