    I don't think I've ever seen a TrueAlert horn strobe paired with a TrueAlert speaker strobe in a test before! That's a really awesome combination imo! I think it's pretty sweet you decided to do that, because it turned out really well
    Great video! 😉

    The reason why some fire alarms are installed differently is because of the way the building is used. In your example, the high school may have horns because it was an older system and built in accordance with the fire codes at the time of installation. Because art centers and other buildings like churches or stadiums have a large number of occupants, NFPA requires that newer systems be capable of supporting vocal announcements. If you had over thousands of people, a horn won’t do any good besides causing a potential panic. Therefore, most newer buildings will have voice evac. There are a few exceptions, though.

    nice system nice voice evacuation panel.

    I’ve seen something like this at a church that I’ve been to. The alarms that I’ve seen and know of on the system consist of:
    Simplex TrueAlert horn strobe
    Simplex TrueAlert speaker strobe
    Simplex TrueAlert remote strobe
    System Sensor SpectrAlert Advance speaker strobe (white)
    System Sensor SpectrAlert Classic speaker strobe
    Wheelock ET-1070-LSM-24
    Wheelock ET70WP
    All of which are in separate buildings (except for the Spectralert Advance and Classic speaker strobes)
    (The Wheelock ET70WP’s are outdoors)

    It appears my middle school got retrofit with both horn strobes and speaker strobes when upgrading to the est genesis from the original 1950s single stroke bells

    Talking about performing arts wings, that's what they did at my old high school. They renovated, and replaced an old Couch system with horn-strobes (Wheelock, maybe? Or Edwards? Not Simplex, I know that much), but after the reno they built another addition to the performing arts wing with speaker-strobes.

    there are some buildings that have voice evac panels with horns and horn/strobes combined with the speaker/strobes to alert occupants even more. sometimes voice evac panels can even sometimes have bells combined with the speakers.

    • @MrTylerNicole1
      @MrTylerNicole1 Před 4 lety

      Not only that, but it’s also a code requirement in many jurisdictions who follow NFPA guidelines. If a building is being used for large gatherings, it is technically a good idea to have voice evac instead of or in lieu of horns. It is particularly important where the majority of occupants are sensitive to loud noise and cannot tolerate the loud alarm volume (which is why our school is gradually beginning to phase out the old horns and replacing them with either voice evac or a low frequency tone). The idea is to alert occupants of a fire, without using a high frequency tone that could easily startle people and it can even make the evacuation process smoother since everybody knows what’s going on.

    I don't know why but Simplex voice evac is one of the quietest evac systems I've ever heard. My high school had a simplex evac system and the speakers sounded very quiet. I go to a campus that has a campuswide EST evac system in all buildings, and those Genesis and Integrity speakers really scream compared to TrueAlert speakers

    You should try and look for the 4906-9227 addressable horn strobe.

  • @GaryBeltz
    @GaryBeltz Před 5 lety +1

    They add voice because new construction requires it unless it's something really small I'm guessing it's a blend of new NFPA and ADA. The Walmart that I recently transferred to was opened in 2016 and it has a Wheelock voice system. Yet to hear it go off however only been there a little over a week. My dad's building had a new addition added recently and they put in a whole new panel on the original part of the building it has horn strobes but in the new part it has voice.

    • @MrTylerNicole1
      @MrTylerNicole1 Před 5 lety

      Yes. Buildings that have a certain number of people or greater must have voice evac systems in order to easily communicate any information. If you’re in a school with hundreds of people, it would be more sufficient to directly communicate the information, such as where the fire is. My school only has horns, but that can cause panic since people don’t know what’s going on. In a way, that is not up to date with the fire codes. You are correct.

  • @djijspeakerguy4628
    @djijspeakerguy4628 Před 5 lety

    I was at a building where the fire alarm 🚨 went off, it was the same device, the same whoop tone, but no message. It was really quiet, and it was a giant room, and I doubt it was up to code.

  • @itzbryceodell
    @itzbryceodell Před 4 lety

    I’d love to see the horn in the same coding but the speaker strobe in code 3 tone

    Hey zachery have you thought of hooking the two 4010s up as if one is original to the building and one controls the new building

    Isn’t the “SIGA” technically a 278-SPO since it’s conventional?

  • @Northern_Fire_Security

    I don't like how the true alert horn/strobe has a long first beep of the code 3

  • @MrTylerNicole1
    @MrTylerNicole1 Před 5 lety

    Hey, Zachary, it’s Tyler here. I’m just wondering if you open the SIGA pull station using your keys, won’t that activate the fire alarms as well? In my school, we have Simplex T bar pull stations. But whenever we have a fire drill, I’ve seen our custodians open the station using the key rather than pulling the lever then resetting it. I’m just wondering why you chose to do it that way? Wouldn’t that be more easier? What a good test since Daylight Savings Time is coming. You know what they say: change your clocks, check your safety equipment. I am a fire alarm expert as well. :D

      Fire alarms are simply wired with 24VDC for the basics ones at least. Have a look at the wiki here for more info: www.firealarmtech.net/wiki/basics/circuits/
