Elvis could sing anything . His voice changes from soul to rock to gospel .
Elvis never liked being called The King. He said God was the only King.
Elvis also has some amazing Gospel songs such as "How Great Thou Art." He was raised in an Assembly of God Church and never forgot his roots. Groups such as the Beatles and The Bee Gees were inspired by Elvis as stated in many of their interviews.
Such a beautiful song! It has always been one of my very favorite Elvis songs in all my 53 years. For real, my Mom would play it to get me to sleep when I was a baby!
Jane H commenting … One of the most beautiful songs Elvis sang, & he sang over 700. His incredibly beautiful voice turned this song into something very special & it was commonly used as a wedding song. Elvis had a strong faith in Jesus as his Lord & Saviour, & his Gospel songs & hymns were his absolute favourite to sing, & helped him remain calm before going on stage to perform. He would also sing Gospel until the early hours of the morning, after performing, as he suffered badly from insomnia, & that helped him get through the night before he was sleepy enough to finally doze off. Great Reaction.
And the movie is great !! Lots of singing and Elvis as we know that voice can't be replicated or matched !
Blue Hawaii is one of my favorite Elvis movies of all time. Great story and awesome music and amazing singing from everyone!

others his equal or his better ..... But every time the dust settles .....
Elvis is still king ..... God said .....That son ..... That there is
something you just cannot change ..... Can't be done ..... Elvis won the
world over with his abilities ..... Far above mortal man ..... Able to
leap high notes in a single breath ..... Or blow the roof off with some
low tone tornadic whirlwind of a grinding persuasion flowing out of him
with the greatest of ease .....To start a song off as if it would be soft
and sweet .... Only to have it end up taking you up to high heaven and
beyond ..... Making you think ..... What the hell just happened ..... Was
that earthbound what you just heard and saw ..... Or direct from up

He was definitely competing with himself, he was on a different level. There is Elvis than there is everyone else. Greatest of all time 💌
He could sign an amazing variety of music and had a wide appreciation. With that said, gospel was his favorite and all of his Grammys were for gospel albums.

The 1966 studio version of "How Great Thou Art" is much more beautiful and reverent than his live shows.
Perhaps his best movie. This scene he is singing to his girlfriend's grandmother on her birthday. He's also holding girlfriend's hand and singing to her. I think this may be my favorite song. So lovely!!! You must see this movie!!!
I think he was singing this to Joan Blackman in the movie, but it seemed like he was singing it to her grandmother! A touching moment in his greatest movie, (Blue Hawaii). Check it out! Do a review of the movie, if you want. It's awesome!

It’s better to have the studio/album version. Most reaction channels use a live performance version from his comeback…and unfortunately, that is riddled with ad libs and improvisations which actually take away from how perfect the actual song and his studio version are.
I had the privilege of seeing Elvis perform live at Notre Dame, the year before he died…and he was such a superb showman. And I was pleased then that he performed it “straight”. Absolutely beautiful.

........ Regarding your question... YES Blue Hawaii is a great flick, but beware of mid 1960s movies, where they gave him bad scripts & bad movie music. Elvis got physically ill for being stuck in the movie contracts. But again, This is not one of them.
