I've had a 32 inch Cintiq and the Intuos Pro, Large - and hands down I prefer the Intuos over the Cintiq. I find there's more control looking at my monitor of choice and it's more precise. Price-wise too, it's a winner.
Lots of professionals love non display tablets over monitor tablets for just that reason. The more expensive tablet isn't always the best! That said... I do love my 32" Cintiq Pro!
I still use an Intuos 3. Have used it extensively since 2004 and it's still going strong. Got the mobile studio pro 16 a few months ago and went straight back to the Intuos. I think I'm so used to using Intuos and really prefer looking up at the computer screen rather than down all day. When I draw I have one hand with the stylus and the other on the keyboard for shortcuts. It seems to suit my workflow better than the mobile pro.
That's fair enough. We all get used to certain things. I've been using tablets since the early 90's and the first monitor tablet I got was a massive change. It blew my mind but was kind of hard to use. It was quite small though. My first ever tablet was only 2" square - haha. I test a lot of tablets and software now which is good for me not getting to comfortable with something... a curse and a blessing!
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW I bought the smooth texture replacement, I don't regret it. I no longer think about how my nib is wearing down really fast as I draw. Even though it still wears down a bit, it's not wearing down nearly as fast. Lining the sheet up properly was a bit of a pain, wacom shouldn't make people have to do that.
I have a Cintiq Pro 24 Touch, but still use my 2014 Intuos Pro SE regularly. I will say that I am definitely loving the Pro Pen 2 from the Cintiq over the Intuos Pro Pen, getting 6000 more levels of sensitivity. I think I can really feel the difference. I’ve found that I really prefer the Cintiq for drawing, but it’s a toss up for line work, and I almost prefer the Intuos for coloring. I also enjoy the workflow change with my posture using the Intuos if I feel my neck or back straining on the Cintiq. I can push longer hours using the Intuos sitting up right and looking straight at the screen. I’ve considered getting the new Intuos Pro for the Pro Pen 2 usage specifically so I don’t take the sacrifice moving from the Cintiq Pro. It simply feels amazing.
Thanks for the specifics here. I currently have a Surface Pro which is great for a lot of reasons but was looking at the Intuous pro paper because I usually start my work on paper anyway. However, I was also eyeballing the Cintiqs and I have never really used one so I don't know how they are compare. I find I don't really love sketching and drawing directly to my surface-I just don't end up with the same kind of drawing or the same quality. But using it to paint in color and do all manner of 2d art editing and effects is pretty great. Hearing that you find the Intuous so useful is great to hear!
Ayyy Left handed buddies :D That said, it'll be a while before I can upgrade from my Intuos Small, it was fine at first, but at some point I realized I should've invested in a larger tablet because my hand kept hanging at the edge of the tablet when I'm drawing x_x
When I say 'budget' I mean in the world of Wacom. I'm not talking about the wider world of tablets. To compare them in general many of the much cheaper tablets might cost lest but are junk in comparison. The Intuos has it's nib problems for sure that many people complain about (I have never seen) but still for Wacom it is the budget model.
My review after 2 years... Well, after making comics with Intuos for 2 years my real question is... Could I add another device and feel happy at the same way? Intuos does not have lag, the customazible short keys are amazing and the touch screen, even though sometimes leave unwanted spots is really really responsive. On top of that you have a fantastic posture, and you can update your monitor and your computer improving your experience when you desire it. Even more... You have less chance to get issues because the device is really durable... Personally I feel tempted anout a cintiq or a wacom mobile... Now even kamvas 24 4k...or kamvas studio 16...but the experience with Intuos Pro is so great that I feel I may do it only because I love the idea of a fancy device and secretely I will keep thinling Intuos is better. 😍
Yes... 'budget'. I'm a professional artist and my reviews are aimed at professional working artists or at least artists who take their craft seriously. From this point of view the Wacom Intuos Pro Large is a Budget tablet. Especially compared to larger tablets that can go over 2k in price. Now, there are some newer challengers on the market so I might be tempted to say their is a better budget tablet but I'll do that in another video. I could give a cheaper alternative for an amature budget tablet but I most of the other tech channels cover that angle already.
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW so you are talking this from a standpoint that compares the best of the best. So by that you mean it’s budget RELATIVE to the professional devices that worth thousands of dollars. I for one was comparing it to the normal human needs and I am only 14 making money something hard and to pay this much for a non screen tablet seems nuts for me cause for that much I can do much more
Hi Ali, I do mention on the channel that I am talking as a pro' and aiming to other professionals quite a lot. Sorry. Budget is always going to be a relative term depending on who you are, where you live and the cash in your pocket but if you want something then you can always make it happen! Good luck getting that tablet of your dreams.
I honestly prefer intuos over cintiq for the pen feel of the textured surface and the ergonomics of looking stright at my screen. (i know you can get an angled setup for your cintiq but its bulky and takes up a lot of table space imho)
So many Pro' artists prefer the Intuos non-display tablets and I think many junior artists find this hard to belief but they can be a lot more accurate for some artists. Especially for photographers.
Just bought one today brand new for £350 and it’s the large. Super excited to receive it sometime next week! I’ve been craving to get back to digital after my unknown brand pen display failed on me.
I have the Intuous PTH 860. The main issue with it is its habit of stopping regularly, necessitating it having to be restarted. I've used this tablet on three computers and it's been the same on all three. I also found no use for any of the tablet button functions so I disabled the lot of them. I didn't find they helped in my editing at all, so they're gone.
thank you for this video. I've been considering this one and the medium, moving on from the previous gen intuos draw S and there's overabundance of the medium reviews, not to mention everybody and their dog got the paper edition it seems, but literally like THREE videos showcasing the large version. and I really need to see the thing in context, going off by the size dimensions on paper does nothing for me. so, thank you again.
Hey lawrence! this is a great and helpful review. I've been using a wacom intuos 4 for about 10 years and now I'm about to buy a wacom intuos pro large. My question is: is there a big improvement? Has the intuos pro more levels of sensitivity?
Great question Garciart! Yes. The Wacom Intuos Pro uses the Pro Pen 2 which has has more level of pressure and better tilt as well as hover and hover-click. Most other tablet brands do not have some of these features either. This is the most advanced pen on the market. Hope that helps - thanks for subscribing. Please spread the word :D
Bought this one today, coming from an Intuos4 medium. (I do have Intuos5 as well, but I never did like that. The surface and the buttons were horrible.) Testing it at the moment. Loving it so far! Love the heavy metallic feel to the tablet and the pen holder, the slick design, and just the general feel when drawing. Not immedietly impressed with the bluetooth, which makes the cursor lag and drag. But I haven't delved into possible improvements yet. Wired mode workes wonders, and the cable is quite long.
Hey, thanks for review! I have a question. I working on Intuos3 large for about 10 years or so, it's 100% satisfying me, but I really want to know about pressure sensitivity levels. Is it recognisable difference between old IntuosPen (i guess it 2048 levels) and the new one which is 8K. I'm using ClipStudio software which is stunning for inking and stroke wight control with pressure.
For someone who uses it all the time for professional artwork you'll notice a difference. For the average user who uses it somewhat, you wont notice it much
Thanks for the links! I plan to buy both once I have leftover funds from my fafsa. I’m a college student! I think getting the case will be helpful too!
Hello! I use Photoshop, I’m a traditional artist and used the pen tool and mouse for years. Time to move with the times. Will this be compatible with macOSMojave? Thanks for your video.
Hi! I guess this is quite belated but a big thanks for this review Video as I was considering getting a Wacom Intuos Pro as a beginner tablet. I would like to ask if the XP-Pen Deco Pro would be a good alternative? I feel the XP-Pen Deco Pro would be the “coolest” from an aesthetic standpoint because of the light up ring. This will be my first time using a tablet and I intend to use it photo editing and small amount of drawings.
Lawrence I just bought this pad for my daughter(12)a very talented artist, what would be the best software to compliment it. Looking for a pro-sumer price point. Many thanks.
Obviously I don't know what kind of art your daughter is doing but check out Sketchable and maybe Clip Studio as well. Sketchable is in the Windows app store it's very affordable and you can try try a demo first. Clip Studio is more advance and a lot of Manga/comic artists love it.
Great review, thank you for that! I believe I will purchase this model. I have seen so many people complain about the rough drawing surface and the pen tips wearing down quickly. Is this the case with this model?
Some people have had issues and some people haven't. It's a real mixed bag. I haven't had any problems so it's hard to work out if there is a bad batch of nibs or if some people are pressing down like the incredible Hulk. Strangest thing.
I want to buy, and the issue I cannot find data on is how the tablet behaves when you magnify a photo Photoshop. In other words: I edit photographs, and I constantly go to 200% or more to check details. When I do that, does the equivalent "image" on the tablet magnify too? Or is the tablet and my strokes on it always working a 1x image? If it magnifies, a smaller version would be fine, if it does not, then the large is necessary. Am I clear? (When using a mouse, magnifying increases the precision of the mouse strokes or edits, is this also true with the tablet?)
I am on the verge of tears. I received my new Intuos Pro Large two days ago and now my computer is possessed! (iMac) The magic mouse lags and drags and sticks or just won't work. Random windows on the screen open for no reason, the screen will zoom in with no request or command to do so, it has been and is a nightmare! I can't work, and I just don't know what to do. I am totally besides myself. Nowhere to turn but I have to get this working or I starve!
Have you installed the drivers for the Intuos? I know it is a simple question but a lot of users don't as it does also work as a plug and play device. If so, uninstall AND THEN reinstall, making sure that you certainly pick the correct tablet. Make sure you also have no other tablet drivers installed on your iMac as that can (rarely) cause issues. In the Wacom tablet settings try turning off all touch options and see if that makes any kind of difference. Change the nib/tip on the stylus. Does this still happen when using the eraser tip of the stylus? See if any of these help and let me know! Lawrence.
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW I did the whole routine, uninstalling, searching out hidden files and removing those, and making sure the driver was the most recent one. Turns out, it took nothing more than disabling "touch". Seems a shame that you have to disable a feature that is part of the package your paid for to get things to work as you want, but at least now I am back to having no problems and a smooth operation of both the tablet and my mouse.
I have used Surface Pro 4 and 7 for basic drawing and writing. And I do not like the low resolution of the pen matrix. I find it much more useful to draw simple things on PC with low latency mouse and monitor than on Surface. I also prefer a separate device for screen and drawing board since there can be some offset between pen matrix and screen. I only have to justify the purchase of a quite expensive gadget to improve my workflow since drawing and image editing are more of a hobby for me.
The Surface pen technology is awful. I often joke that Microsoft bought the 3rd best pen tech on the market (n-trig) and turned it into the 7th - Jeez I am a tech geek! lol.
i have model m from 2013, i bought it 2 months before this came out.sing, does it change a lot? I liked being able to start traditional, I don't even have a scanner and I use a telephone. I have never tried digital drawing before (apart from with the mobile phone, but little and badly), after 4 months I abandoned it, because when I went back to the paper, I always stared at the computer monitor, if the reference was a photo, I could not use both analog and digital, but perhaps more than the tablet the problem is that I was not good at learning to use a drawing program. of the tablet had bothered me that I wanted to use wiriless, I have little space, but in my computer with wireless it never worked, in another computer where I tried it to see if it was faulty, it worked, it depended on my pc, now I would like to reuse the tablet, at least for coloring, I think maybe I could use it to try to improve my drawings, make them more finished, color, everything I do, they are sketches, even if I try to improve. to try again with digital for 2 years I dreamed of ipad, maybe pro but it is out of range, so either reuse my intuos or nothing.
Subscribed, mate. I had an old Wacom Bamboo which still works fine, but doesn't have the sensitivity or working area I would like, so I bought a Huion New 1060 Plus; big mistake. After a couple of months the pen started playing up and now it only works if you have the charging cable in the pen. I saved and save and managed to get hold of a Wacom Pro PTH-860 which will be here in 2 days. I'm excited to get my hands on it as I want to get stuck into my book covers again. I should have gone for the Wacom straight away and saved myself a lot of stress; cheaper is not always better, and my Bamboo is still working even after the Huion died on me. Thanks for the video :)
Awesome to hear it buddy. Your comment means a lot :) Thanks Carl!! Glad I could help. Let me know how you are getting on and if you need any help drop me a tweet @LAWRENCEcanDRAW
Why do they provide the sand paper? (at 4:25) This large size's price is closer to Cintiq Pro 16. May I know why don't you buy Cintiq Pro 16? I'm struggling to decide Cintiq Pro vs this Large size. I worry that Cintiq Pro makes my neck pain.
artists like a texture to draw on. The gloss tablets like iPad just are not as nice to draw on. When making a purchase my ultimate advice is always to follow your gut rather than anyone's advice. There is no better tablet - just the best tablet for you! A lot of Pro' artists prefer the Intuos style tablet for that very reason - neck & back pain is very real for tablet users. That's why we use Ergotron arms. I have an entire playlist on Ergonomics for artists.
I'm using an intuos 3 medium since the pharaons era aprox. Never an issue with the device. Few weeks ago I got an used iPad pro 12'9 to be able to draw on a screen and have the experience. I do appreciate the technology of it and the freedom of movement it gives you but I find the screen size too small and the surface plus pen is way too slippery, and in terms of apps and OS all the combo makes me feel that sketches and studies is the most i can do with it without struggling. I would love to keep the iPad and also upgrade to this intuos pro large since the monitor i currently have is a 25 inches and the size difference of the active area of my current medium intuos size is way too small. I could also go with an used intuos 4 large and keep the iPad. After all this endless history, my question would be, for those who might have experience with the named devices....what makes more sense to you.... Keep the iPad pro and getting an used intuos 4 large or selling the iPad pro, get the pro large plus some bucks in the bank (iPad pro costs more used than pro large new). Btw the use is for character design, illustration, caricatures and concept art. Thanks guys.
I did exactly what you were thinking to do - your comment is a year old so I don't know what you decided in the end - I kept the iPad Pro 12.9 and bought a used Intuos 4 Large. I am itching for a big Cintiq though.
i keep thinking about the large size tablet and what it would benefit me. But i cant help to look at everyone drawing on it and it seems they dont use its full size.
Bigger is better!!! A tablet mirrors your screen so you don't draw all over your screen. You focus on the part you need. You'll never draw in some areas because of palettes or toolbars but the bigger the tablet, the bigger the area you will have to draw in. Personally I'd rather have that larger space. It makes you more precise. Think about it... you wouldn't want to work on a tablet that is only 1" because that's too small and not very precise. Hope that helps!
Remember that you won't have exactly the same pen experience with the Huion. I am hopefully going to get one of the larger Huions in studio for review though so I'll be able to give you some feedback on how that stands up! Make sure to subscribe to see how that stands up!!
the lines will be better on the screen tablet for sure tho, my lines with the intuos requires alot of focus and 10x the work. I used it basically for painting and light sketching and i love it but, everytime i try line art for either character, creatures of environemnt it takes alot of work and doesnt even compare to what I drew on paper. I drew one thing on a piece of paper and tried to replicate it and it wasnt easy. Prob took 15 extra min, alot of layers and a hand cramp.
also Huion 191 has bout 7000-8000 pressure sens. close to wacom. so i think its good enough. I would get cintiq 13 inch but its very expensive and small compared to a huion for 500 but 19 inches.
Yeah, I can't wait to review one and see for myself. It's more about the tilt & rotate controls on the pen that worry me. The pressure is 8k. Are you lining you Intuos Pro up with your screen? That really helps a lot!
I have been using Intuos 3, still works rock solid! Have used daily for 8+ years but still as good as brand new, only 1k pressure levels though so not sure if I am missing out big time? I am planning to pick- > a) 32" 4k monitor + Intuos Pro Large ($2000) Vs b) 32" 4k monitor + Cintiq 24" or 32" if year goes goo lol ($3400-$4000++++) Decisions decisions!!!!!!!! What would you choose out of a) and b) ? :-)
When you said it is better than Apple Pencil, I just understood it has that ergonomic patented intuitive touch. Thanks for sharing the review. $499 worth the money for my "creative, and sensitive" mindless mind :)
Lawrence, I need your opinion! (Long post coming) I have been getting the urge to explore more digital art lately and can't decide if I should get something mobile, like a Mobile Stuido or Ipad pro, or should I go for a Pen Displays like the Wacom Cintiq or Dell Canvas. I currently have an old intuos that I don't really use... If I go the mobile option, I would only use it while drawing in bed / on the couch or at life drawing. Concerned that the Mobile might be to heavy? My surface pro 3 is slightly on the heavy side but horrible for drawing... Ipad pro is a lot lighter but I worry that the pressure is bad? As for the pen displays, I know the wacom Cinque 24" isn't released yet but based on your expectation do you think it would be better then the Dell Canvas? With the wacom you are paying more money for a smaller screen but with better pen pressure. Is that trade off really worth it? I should note that I work full time as a Graphic designer but draw everyday as a hobby. Thanks ;)
If you think the Surface Pro 3 is heavy they the MobileStudio feels like holding 3 of them (maybe 2) but it's heavier for sure! I love mine because it's so capable and I can draw everywhere. What's wrong with drawing in all the places? Canvas is great but you will need the stand or an Ergotron arm - watch my Dell Canvas playlist!! Wacom Cintiq - I'l got a playlist for that too! The bigger screen is great and that will help make you a better artist. Wacom has the best pen tech hands down. To me the iPad Pencil just felt cheap to hold. It's pressure was good but it was awful to use. The MobileStudio uses the same pen as the upcoming Wacom Cintiq Pro - The most advanced stylus from any company - hands down. It all depends on what kind of art you create and what kind of apps you use! Looking at your avatar I'd say got for the bigger screen of the Cintiq because it'll help you improve as an artist as long as you work every day.
Lawrence Mann thanks for the advice Lawrence! I was actually leaning towards the new cintiq, so this just confirms it. Any idea when they will be released? Side note: My avatar is probably 10+ years old, back when I was into pixel art. Amazing how much my style has changed since then :p
Thank you for this video. I actually use a Huion Gt 220 v2... I'm very pleased of it but I regret that it's not 4K... I have a 4K monitor and when the Huion arrived, I've been crying because of the pitch : 0,24 mm It's very awfull compared to my 28" 4K monitor... So, I was thinking " may be this Wacom Intuos Pro Large is The solution... I would win tilt sensitivity, Express Keys and gain the wonderfull clarity of a large and magnificent monitor... and save some money... It seems that Wacom Cintiq Pro 24 4K 's price will be 2000 $. 500 $ for this Wacom is more reasonable at this time... but I have to be sure gaining really comfort for this price. It seems that that's the case, you said it in this video... 😁
I'm forever telling people that it's the trade off but "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills" sometimes. lol. Most users of the Wacom alternatives defend them but have never tried a Wacom. When they do they see the difference. There is a place in the market for them and I do understand that. I'm not a crazy fan boy. This will help you though - especially since you already have a decent monitor! Links are in the description btw ;D Happy to help! #SpreadTheWord!
Hello Lawrence, nice review! I think I'm gonna buy this tablet as I can get a second hand one for a really good price. What I want to ask you is, are the express keys and the touch functionality of the tablet enough so that you don't need to use your keyboard while you draw?
That all depends on what you're doing with it. 3D artists and animators need more shortcuts so will always use keyboards. Whereas illustrators and digital painters will be fine with this!
I'd like to know how to adjust the cursor/circle of the pen when it connects with the computer screen... Mine is just one giant circle on the screen that gets even bigger when increasing brush size, so I have to guess where the pen is going to touch the canvas constantly.
That depends on your software. If you are using Photoshop then go into settings and change the cursor settings. You will be able to pick from several options and pick the particular size you'd like!
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW Thanks, I don't have Photoshop, but I tried that out, and it worked! I was convinced it was the tablet 'cause a colleague of mine had the same problem with yet another software but didn't think she could fix it through its settings.
I have an old Intuos 4 medium that sill works great. I use it for 3d sculpting. I’m wondering if it’s worth it to upgrade to this one. Can some of you give your two cents on this? Thanks guys!
The Pro Pen 2 is a big step up and I think you'll see that in the rotation and pressure when sculpting. Especially if you do fine detailed work. Any Wacom tablet with the Pro Pen 2 will be good for you. You could even upgrade that to the Pro Pen 3D made especially for your skillsets ;)
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW Thank you for your response! I forgot to ask... One of the biggest complaints I have about my old Intuos4 is the fact that the surface goes from rough to smooth rather quickly. I stopped replacing the sheet after the second replacement because it can get expensive. I was wondering... does the surface of the cintiq also wear down? If so, how quickly? Does the newer Intuos Pro have the same issue?
There was a spring loaded tip previously. That was on the Pro Pen 1. This does not exist on the new Pro Pen 2. Overall, the new nibs are more flexible.
I'm sure Wacom's new product will benefit a lot of people, just not likely me. I've always found screenless tablets difficult to use, because I cannot discern where the stylus is in relation to what it's drawn. That's why I'm getting one with a display.
It's just down to practice. I've been using tablets since the early 90's and really monitor tablets are a luxury item to us old timers. We had to learn that way and it's not that hard. I's still rather have the Rolls Royce of Screenless tablets than the Fiat of Monitor Tablets. lol.
Well, it's related to one of my disabilities, so it's not something I've figured out how to overcome. Getting the Canvas, however, seems the best bet though, given I do animation/engineering work.
Dysgraphia shouldn't be a factor as that is writing rather than drawing. Much like Dyslexia is reading, writing and interpretation of symbols. Dyspraxia, yes because that is coordination. I was always a believer that you can overcome any obstacle placed in your way. I am dyslexic - though I try mention it as little as possible. My English writing, grammar and spelling is better than most around me because I have pushed myself. I have written many papers, a book and articles. I write, hundreds and sometimes thousands of words per day here on social media. Trying hard never to use auto-correct or spellcheck. I send things to professional Editors and am happy with the progress I have made over the years to say that few people could notice my Dyslexia now. I believe I have overcome it. Good luck overcoming what ails you. However you choose to face it.
Might be a strange question but Whats the quality of the plastic? I've used the bamboo's and the small intuos creative thing and it was just unbelievably gross and cheap feeling and I've heard a lot that the quality of wacom has gone down from others. If you've ever used the Intuos 4 ptk-640, how does the plastic compare to this. I have an intuos 4 I've been using for like 10 years now and he's going still strong but I know he'll die one day so I'm trying to figure out what tablet I want to get next.
Not at all. That is a solid question. It has a metal back and a well made body with a tough plastic which has a slight grain to it. I really feel like I can throw it around. I'm happier with this than many other tablets. The other brand I would recommend from this point-of-view is Xencelabs. Hope that helps - thanks for subscribing. Please spread the word :D
Dear Lawrence, I'm a beginner digital artist with a hobby. I was thinking of upgrading from my intuos small for a Intuos pro. But I'm debating between the size medium or a large.
Really depends on what I need and where I am. It's not gonna be the same for you anyway because everyone is different. The Cintiq 27QHD is my Workhorse. But the 32" will be turning up soon so that will take over! I move around a lot too so it could be the Mobile Studio or the Surface Book depending how far I go or how I feel or what I'm planning on doing!
I had a small bamboo touch, but when I got a new iMac last year, it was no longer compatible, so I've been doing a lot or research, regarding Wacom and there competitors, watching video reviews, reading articles and written reviews, one thing for me is longevity of the product, how long will it last.
I've had this one for a few years and it's absolutely fine. I've been using drawing tablets since 1992 and had very few problems though. The Bamboo range was solid. I'm guessing it was just the connection that wouldn't fit?
Oh, that's a shame. Sometimes you can find a work around for the older tablets if you are willing to search the underbelly of Reddit - depends how tech savvy you are of course. Or how much you want to keep it. I have a really nice Wacom 12-12-UD mint / with box that I did a video about a couple of years ago but I eventually framed it up on the wall because I couldn't be bothered tracking down and doing the USB conversion on it. haha.
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW not really tech savvy . I would like to get a pen display, but what will last longer Xp-pen or Wacom, and will either have something new to sell?
Wacom is at CES event this week so they might announce something. Other than that we never know when something is going to be launched. Huion is no. 2 to Wacom. As to which lasts longer... I would say Wacom have always done me well. I've never used XP-Pen long term. I have used them for a few months at a time during reviews etc but never for years at a time. So honestly I can't make that comparison. Plus every model is different and it's not a brand thing (or at least I'm not that biased. haha).
Wacom Pen 2 2020??? There isn't a 2020 pen. The Pro Pen 2 that we have now is the same one we had previously. There is no Pro Pen 2020 edition - at least not that I am aware of in the public eye. That said, Apple never released the specs for their Pencil. They work on different technology. Apple wins in some ways but Wacom in others. I would just get outright hate for making this video if I didn't declare the Apple Pencil the winner. lol. It would be interesting though. But maybe it's more personal preference than anything else.
Hello guys! I'm new here and after some extensive research I'm inclined to buy this drawing tablet as my very first one. I have ONE question though: Does the screen detect the pen as it's hovering closely above it? (I've seen before that some tablets have this feature.. maybe all? dunno). Otherwise I don't really know how I'd get used to something that's based on guessing how to get the pen on the right spot and that would be a complete disaster for me. :D
They all have their quirks. If you don't like that one then you'd be horrified by some of the others. haha. Some feel so weak and fragile and make creaking noises while you draw or have glossy nibs that squeak loudly. - If your noise is the same as everyone else hears then it should be fine. If it is especially loud then give Wacom a shout on Twitter and tell them to replace it. Is it working properly or is it cutting out now and again?
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW Thanks, it's likely the same subtle noise that is sometimes heard on everyone's pen, it's not a big deal, but I noticed it. My tablet is working properly, I'm glad I went for it instead of some other tablet. It gives you pieces of mind knowing you have the best one. I've been real careful with it's cable port, I've heard that's normally the first thing to break.
The port is normally the first thing to go on any device with either a Micro-USB or USB-C port. I now wonder if those ports are 'designed' that way!! 🤔 we never had this problem in the 90's!!
Wether to go regular tablet or cintiq is, price aside, a matter of personal preference. The price alone is reason enough to choose Intuos over Cintiq as a first buy - the Intuos tablets are top quality, so don't worry. As a professional illustrator, I can testify that a Cintiq is not required to do solid art and enjoy it. To be honest, I didn't really fall in love with the Cintiq workflow when I tried it a couple of years back. But like I said, it's a matter of preference. Either way, if this is her first steps into digital art, an Intuos Pro Large is by far the best choice. Optionally, a medium will serve just fine as well, with less table space required, and it's somewhat less expensive.
Sorry can you answer me, i want to buy a wacom intuos pro m, so i didnt get what is texture sheet and should we buy one or no? this is my first im buying one, i just wanted to know what is your idea about buying a texture sheet.
I want to but a drawing tablet for graphic design (Indisign). Is this one still the ‘best’ one out there? I’m very impressed by it, but since this video was uploaded in 2018 I’m wondering if its still up to date
It's still the best non-display tablet on the market. Yes. That is to say that it comes with the Pro Pen 2 which is the best stylus on the market. I think that is the best way to put it. As a big InDesign user myself I do love this tablet but I prefer the monitor tablets myself.
Hey Lawrence! I bought this table (medium paper edition) last month and its great :) But is it me or the nibs wear out much more faster this time? I dont pressure that much, but after - I think - 20 hours of working one side is almost all wear out and have clear signs of use. Is it normal or should I buy smooth layer? Greetings form Poland and keep up with the good work! :)
Love to Poland! You folks seem to be doing great over there! There is nib wear but it's part of making the pen feel more realistic and give you a better experience. You just have to not press down like the Hulk. lol. Try altering your pressure sensitivity as well to see if that helps too - Hope that helps!
Hi Dante. You were screwed by wacom. Me and my colleague both are working using this tablets and I used up 5 nibs for 5 months or faster. I actually use it pretty rarely, like 2 hr a day. So... Its called greediness! Its normal for nibs to wear in 1 year or half of intensive use. Not with this tablet. I wrote to wacom about this issue , and they replied that this was done because users complained that tablets surface is wearing too fast, so it is intended. Fun fact they also made it possible to change surfaces with this tablet. People say that you need to press lighter - boi I press lightly. SO I wouldnt recommend buying this exact tablet
Hello Mikhail! Furtunatly/unfortunatly I already bought it :) Overall I think tablet is great but nibs are some kind of joke. I have ultra sensitive mode turn on and they wear like I was using sand paper :p But I find how to make your own nibs tutorials on internet so I will be doing that. I rather scratch all surface and buy new than buy original nibs once per month :)
Different tools. It depends on what applications you use, what kind of work you do, the way you work, lots of different factors. One is not 'better' than the other. It doesn't matter how awesome the specs on the device it's attached to. Plus, some younger artists just don't want to put in the time to train their hand-eye coordination for the Intuos tablets, even though these tablets are still preferred by many top level Pro's. Really it's personal preference and 'horses for courses!'
very interesting review! I really appreciated, I'm kind of divided by the idea of purchasing an Intuos Pro, or and iPad Pro tablet due to the fact in what will fit better my workflow. I live in Brazil and both devices are very expensive, and the type of income we can get here doesn't help that much. One thing I took consideration about purchasing the iPad is the fact the apps doesn't cost that much, and because of that I would be able to purchase. And the "workstation" that I have right now is just a laptop with a low energy core i7 with discrete graphic card, with an old Bamboo CTL-470 If someone can help me decide what is best I would really appreciate! Thanks!
That's why we have a lot of Brazilians come to the UK to work ;) Everyone who comments from Brazil mentions how bad it is to buy goods there. I'm surprised you don't have an uprising! The iPad is more portable obviously but the Intuos can be really portable with your laptop though because it's Bluetooth and you don't need to bring cables. The Intuos is larger. Obviously the Pro Pen 2 is better by far! On the iPad you can only use Procreate. There's only that 1 app that's any good really. That's about it for painting. On your laptop you've got all your real applications like Photoshop & Painter etc. Hope that helps!
Lawrence Mann thank you, I am more sort of a traditional artist, I saw that lately a lot of people are using paintstorm studio, that is available fully functional in both platforms. As a matter of fact, I think I should somehow have both devices. But definitely, the best advice you gave is to move to UK lol! Brazil is one of most complex political puzzle you can look for. Really appreciate the advice, thanks!
I have a Brazilian sister in law so I understand what a little of what the economy is like! I never talk politics on CZcams though. I don't believe CZcamsrs should. Not unless that's the point of their channel. Too many celebs do that already :O Happy to help in any way I can #SpreadTheWord!
Very nice review! Have you heard any news about the new 32 inch? Oh incidentally, Acer is releasing a new Chromebook with a Wacom stylus like Samsung has on its android tech. I am glad there are some companies starting to be able to use Wacom tech for their styluses.
Nothing yet! I'll post as soon as I know something Good!! A lot of these companies have used Wacom tech for years but have never told you about it. They've never publicised it because they've never seen it as fashionable or profitable to tell you who their supplier was. Wacom makes a good deal of it's profits from loaning it's EMR tech to other companies ;D You have to dig deep to find out the details. It's all public knowledge though.
Lawrence Mann Hmm, I didn't know Wacom lent or rented their tech out to so many companies. I thought Samsung was pretty much the only one, but I guess there's lots of others. Come to think of it, wasn't the Surface 2 stylus a Wacom type stylus?
Surface 1 & 2. I think Microsoft just didn't want to continue paying another company and decided to buy n-trig. I wouldn't be surprised if someone at MS looked at the numbers for buying Wacom :O Practically all the big companies have rented Wacom tech at one time or another in recent history! Shhhhh ;)
Because it is. Rotation, tilt, hover (inc. hover & press) 8k pressure, choice of nibs and 3 programmable buttons. Going on specs alone and not talking about personal experience, the Wacom Pro Pen 2 is superior to the Apple Pencil. There are things I like about the Apple Pencil but in terms of cold hard facts it does loose the fight. If you prefer Apple Pencil then cool. Personal choice is a big part of choosing your device.
I always say bigger is better. What size screen are you using and what type of work are you doing? Is it detailed painting, photo editing, vector work, comic book illustration?
i work on my 15 inch MacBook … i'm kinda into all of these! painting is my hubby but i want it mostly for photo and video editing and i want to start realistic digital painting more serious…
Go for the large then - it'll match your screen size and the two being the (almost) same size will make it a lot easier. Plus, you can rest it over your keyboard if you want to sit the Laptop on your... lap.
Z0Z0Z Offical I bought it ,actually it’s good i think you might use a very expensive tablet that pro pen 2 seems awful to you,but for a beginner like me it’s ok
Oh, I'm on my Intuos Pro M, but i've seen new intuos pro 2018 on some sort of my local craiglist, so i wondering... I've heard alot of bad reviews about NEW Pro 2018, especially about surface and the fact that u need to change your pen sticks very often(one time in a week or so). is it true? and how u feel the precission level of 8064 comparing to 2048 in older versions of intuos? do u feel the difference? *in sculpting
The nibs are made of the same material, but the shaft is thinner than the previous gen nibs. The problem is the surface which is rougher, Wacom sells the smooth sheet surface which is better than the standard one. Regarding the pen is more precise, personally, I felt the improvements in pressure levels. I did not experience nib wear but I am very light handed. I use the previous pen because of the spring-loaded nib and the flex nib, my favourites.
Well obviously the large is bigger than the medium but to me, bigger is better. some people prefer smaller but it's very much personal preference. I do have a video about how to choose tablet size if you want to check that out. It shows you how to pick the perfect size for you. I can't do a comparison because I do not own the Intuos Pro Medium.
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW I am new so why I asked. But I am asking from a painting perspective not how it looks. Its about fine detail painting and I look at medium and it was too small. Is that the correct way of why you buy a bigger one?
I'm a digital painter. I don't know if you have looked at my portfolio. That's what I do professionally. Bigger is better for us folks in my opinion. I draw very detailed work. As I said; 16" minimum for me. Cut a piece of paper out to that size and see if Medium and see if that is too small!
I want to say a super thanks to Lawrence Mann because he really gave me a great advice in spite of my not fantastic message. I apologize :) thanks again!
Yes, depending on the deals you can get. There are other tablets out there now that are very similar but I still think this is superior. It depends on your budget.
Could I also ask whether the Wacom Cintiq 16 would be a good buy? He's quite keen on having a screen, although he does have a very good laptop. His budget is about £400. Many thanks for your advice.
You just asked on Facebook right? Answered there! Yup. It's the small BUTTERFLY icon on the top bar. Hit that and pick an option. Just experiment. There's a few things to choose from and it's pretty good. It's a tiny bit different to some I've worked with but it's nice and accurate. Have fun. #ShareTheLink!
I love this tablet but man, that nib wear is terrible :/ And since I live in the other side of the globe, getting replacement nibs isn't such an easy task. I had to wait for like a month to get the tablet itself. I don't know, I hope the smoother texture sheet would help.
I know it's a factor and I'm hopefully going to be putting together a video which shows a good solution. But let me ask you... Is this something you've personally experienced or just something you've heard other people talk about? Because most of the people I've heard mention it, even in videos, haven't even used the tablet. So it's a bit of weird thing!
It is something I personally experienced and to be honest, I had no idea there was such an issue. At first, I thought it was only me but (after googling) turned out there are other people having this issue. I'm currently using a screen protector (can't order the smooth texture for now) and it works well with the felt nib. Too bad I can't use the other nibs of my Galaxy Note. They would work even better.
anybody having issues with bluetooth? I'm noticing that with usb cable it works much more precise, with bluetooth it has a little 'lag'. Is it just me?
That could be an interference issue. If you have other Bluetooth devices switched on and very close. For instance - if you use the tablet on your lap and your phone is in your pocket with Bluetooth switched on.
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW I tried everything and still a bit laggy, the -dBm of the tablet is on its normal level, I don't know what to do, maybe I'll give it back. With usb works perfect, but its too expensive to use it always with a cable, thanks anyway!
What computer are you using it with? I'm just wondering what version of Bluetooth it has. Have you got a lot of Bluetooth devices connected? One other thing... Have you had any other tablets? If so, did you uninstall the drivers??
Exactly... When compared to all other tablets, especially monitor tablets, this is a budget tablet. Especially for professional artists as I stated in the video.
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW Hey if you don't mind me asking. Is there really a difference from 2048 and 8192 pressure sensitivity? I'm kinda stuck cause I found a refurbished Cintiq 13hd for $589 but it has 2048 pressure levels while the new Cintiq pro 13 has 8192 pressure levels. Is it worth the extra $210 for the new pen with higher pressure sensitivity, more future proof, and the better colors?
Oh and as of your question from the video. After using my "antique" "huge"(tiny) Bamboo tablet, to this day I simply can't translate what I can do on paper to the digital, through it.Might be because with the tiny workspace that it gives you. I've gotta draw from my joint, might be the "disconnect" of not actually looking where the pen is.That's why I wanna invest in a screen tablet, and that 24" that's coming out soon, makes me think it would be perfect for me, since this is what I wanna do ^^. Thanks a bunch mate for your videos and your work!
No worries. Honestly - the disconnect is not a big deal. Yo do have to see past your hand and this is very freeing! I'm not trying to make a sale. lol. So no bother. The larger 24" is a better size! I haven't used an Intuos in years and I was surprised at how easy I got back into it!!
This is the point of this video... This tablet & pen is far more advanced than a Huion tablet. There's no screen but the tech in there will give you much better results for drawing & painting. 8000+ levels of pressure, amazing accuracy & more. Huion tech is years behind this.
I totally agree with your about its quality, but for many amataurs in drawing ( myself included) its really hard to draw when you dont look at what you are drawing. I own Wacom Intuos S, and i have tryed alot to adjust , but it's terrible, i cant even draw on it...
When I started there were no Cintiqs. You train yourself. You get better. Anyone an do it and it is possible. It may not be easy but it depends how much you want to be good. This tablet and stylus are better and will help you create better art. Nothing in life worth doing is ever easy. I understand that. Maybe the small size isn't helping you. Larger tablets always always help which is why I went for the A4. Thy movements more from the wrist and keeping the elbow as still as possible on the desk. I've got another review coming soon that you might appreciate soon. Do you own a Huion?
With respect, I feel like yours is the opinion of someone who (edit: hasn't) kept up with Huion's first and latest battery-free devices, the H950P and the H640P. While they lack tilt rotation, the pressure curves (8192 levels as well), tracking accuracy, driver stability, and overall quality are all within striking distance of the Intuos range you reviewed in this video, in addition to being very high quality and with a borderline sensual surface texture for pen nib resistance. All for less than $100. Are they as good as Wacom? This may not have been the case even two years ago, but with this latest range, having used both brands, the Huions are obscenely close. My point is, I disagree with your claim that Huion's tech is years behind. It really isn't. And the idea that this Intuos device is the best budget device at several hundred dollars is laughable, and I really mean no disrespect when I say this, I just want to emphasize how close Huion actually is. I own both the Huion devices, and have used them to create great pieces on my Twitch stream many times. At the end of the day, both of us can agree that it's not the tool, it's the artist. And to that end, if the Huion meets or exceeds the needs of the artist at a fraction of the cost, shouldn't it at least merit consideration for "best budget tablet"? I love your channel and your device reviews and I highly encourage you to give them a test run. Anything you can do to promote more competition and spread more knowledge in this arena is a good thing for artists.
Thanks for the respectful tone and not just e-shouting that message at me. In truth no, I didn't know that about Huion's latest pen tech. I'm glad to be made aware of that. Maybe it's worth a review. However I will say that Rotation is a massive thing. All I care about is tech companies pushing each other to give us the artists the best tech possible - that's why I'm never keen on the Wacom Alternatives. I think that's fair enough. If they up their game then 'Welcome to the party'. I'd love to have seen Huion go to 10k pressure. The Pro Pen 2 is still the best stylus though if Huion hasn't gotten rotation yet. To me that's a big deal. I would like to see 8k pressure without the rotation. See what difference that makes. It is the artist and not the tool but I worry for so many artists these days because so many younger artists never use anything but tablets and so will never know decent tools if they only use 13" low grade tablets. I argue with so many people who state that Ugee and Huion are better than Wacom and it's clear they have never touched a Wacom. You can't do anything there because they have no frame of reference to work from. I don't watch Twitch. It's a platform that's always annoyed the f' out of me. It's like CZcams but for 12yr old gamers. lol. No offense. The black & green. I just find it so jarring to look at. I'll take a look at Huion and see. I've used Wacom for years but I'm not a biased Fanboy like some CZcamsrs & reviewers. I'll support whoever makes good tech. I believe that all creatives should work to better the software & hardware that we use if we want it to evolve.
Mmm...I trust specifications, and I am aware Wacom has the experience the people trust and all the things. I mean just look at the specs...and the price. Anyways for what I'm looking for Huion with that specific tablet is the way to go.
Personally I don't think specs are enough to go on - that's why people want reviews. People want to know about the experience. A device is more than the sum of it's parts! I do agree that the Huion is a good buy though! If price is the key for you then have a look at Parblo and XP-Pen as well, see what they have to offer as well!
I know Wacom is the best...and the most expensive. Specs are a starting point not enough to decide. I trust them at the first moment and believe me I have seen a lot of reviews and Huion Q11K v2 is one of the best rivals for Intuos. I will try the tablet and hope it is not going to disappoint me. Have a nice day.
I'm not being a Shill - I've reviewed my share of other brands btw. I agree that Huion are the closest competitor - then XP-Pen. A lot of tablet tech is getting better. But it comes down to budget, hobby vs work, and the style and type of creative you use the tablet for. They are the 3 main questions I think will normally match you to your perfect tablet. Answer those truthfully to yourself and you'll normally find your perfect tablet!
"The pro pen 2 is great" Total BS my pro pen 2 is awful. The rubber doesn't stay put and it knocks the silver plastic thing out, the buttons are just useless if you don't have the hands of a gorilla and it just feels cheap in construction **Would NOT recommend**
Sorry you feel that way. However, there's no reason to comment in such an aggressive manner just because you've had a negative experience. It sounds like maybe you might have had a faulty rubber grip. Did you contact Wacom Customer Support and ask for help? Out of interest, what tablet are you using now?
So you're still using the ProPen 2 - Did you contact Wacom? What did they say? If you haven't yet then try calling them. Phone support is always really good for getting things sorted out super fast I find.
lol. I've got a shorter word - NO! just because it's got a screen it doesn't make it better. The pen tech is not as good and that screen isn't that great anyway. Out of all the Wacom alternatives, it's probably the brand I wouldn't bother with. That tablet looks clunky and the buttons look like they wobble - meaning a poor build quality. That makes me wonder how long it will last.
Trying to get into digital art. Fact: practice makes you a better artist. Opinion: You need Wacom Intuse Pro Large to become a better artist disliked... sorry
Tech makes the experience easier and therefore you can focus on your art. I said this tablet has the Wacom Pro Pen 2 which is the best PEN on the market. Which is still is. I NEVER SAID "You need Wacom Intuse Pro Large to become a better artist". Feel free to dislike a video if you don't like it. That is your prerogative but please don't misquote me Ahmad. I've been a professional digital artist for 20+ years. I'm happy that my 'opinion' is valid.
I just bought one of those a couple of months ago and to be honest is amazing
Glad you're enjoying it. Did you buy a texture replacement too? Are you thinking about it?
I'm ok with the default so far and I think is totally worth it.. Is not an expense... just an investment
Me too! You might like the change up later on - just for the difference!
How is the large version vs the medium one?. Is the large version worth the money?.
I just picked up one of these today to replace my old tiny Intuos CTH-480. I can’t wait to take advantage of that larger drawing surface!
I've got another video about this coming out soon! Stay subscribed! Happy Christmas 🎄🎄🎄
Ayyy Left handed buddies :D
That said, it'll be a while before I can upgrade from my Intuos Small, it was fine at first, but at some point I realized I should've invested in a larger tablet because my hand kept hanging at the edge of the tablet when I'm drawing x_x
I do always say bigger is better when it comes to tablets. Drawing on a small tablet is good for improving your skill level though!!
The single most expensive pad tablet on the market... Budget is not the word I'd choose.
When I say 'budget' I mean in the world of Wacom. I'm not talking about the wider world of tablets. To compare them in general many of the much cheaper tablets might cost lest but are junk in comparison. The Intuos has it's nib problems for sure that many people complain about (I have never seen) but still for Wacom it is the budget model.
got this for christmas, thanks! I wouldn't have those rings without this video, i never check the manual haha
Glad I could help Hakan! Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 #ShareTheVideo
Finally, an informative and useful review, without pretentions and time wasting. Thank you!
Happy to help!
i like how he says "THIS IS THE BEST BUDGET TABLET" like for real - budget?!!
Yes...
You just became my favorite youtuber dude
Awesome to hear :) Thanks Ali 🙌🙌🖥✍😀
I honestly prefer intuos over cintiq for the pen feel of the textured surface and the ergonomics of looking stright at my screen. (i know you can get an angled setup for your cintiq but its bulky and takes up a lot of table space imho)
So many Pro' artists prefer the Intuos non-display tablets and I think many junior artists find this hard to belief but they can be a lot more accurate for some artists. Especially for photographers.
thanks for the video, however I'm more interested in that laptop stand!
what model is that?
Just bought one today brand new for £350 and it’s the large. Super excited to receive it sometime next week! I’ve been craving to get back to digital after my unknown brand pen display failed on me.
para eso es mejor comprarte una xp pen deco 01 v2
I've got a video about tablet size. Search my channel for that and it will help you a lot :D
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW thank you very much!
For the average user who uses it somewhat, you wont notice it much
Does the intuos pro pen have a wiggly & unsteady pen stylus tip?
thanks for the awesome review! really good to get insights from an artist! :)
Glad it was helpful! Stay subscribed Thuan.
I own the medium version of this and it’s pretty nice, just gotta replace the surface with a smoother texture because the nibs wear down too fast haha
Treat yourelf ;D amzn.to/2GfqhVA It's pretty nice!
Have you also got the case? amzn.to/2nbNOOu - I have thought about it! That's a great think about the Intuos Pro, it's very mobile.
Thanks for the links! I plan to buy both once I have leftover funds from my fafsa. I’m a college student! I think getting the case will be helpful too!
The box it comes in makes a pretty good temporary case because it's hard wearing! But the slip case is good!
Do I need to buy photo shop for this product or can I use a free version?
This will be my first time using a tablet and I intend to use it photo editing and small amount of drawings.
if this one's budget then what's not? Without a display ofc
Hello, did you find a good software for your daughter? I'm looking at Krita right now which is free
Did u find a good computer to go with it?
what about keyboard shortcuts then?
I often joke that Microsoft bought the 3rd best pen tech on the market (n-trig) and turned it into the 7th - Jeez I am a tech geek! lol.
Not sure whether to get this large one or the medium sized pro
Check out Xenselabs medium!
i have model m from 2013, i bought it 2 months before this came out.sing, does it change a lot? I liked being able to start traditional, I don't even have a scanner and I use a telephone.
I have never tried digital drawing before (apart from with the mobile phone, but little and badly), after 4 months I abandoned it, because when I went back to the paper, I always stared at the computer monitor, if the reference was a photo, I could not use both analog and digital, but perhaps more than the tablet the problem is that I was not good at learning to use a drawing program. of the tablet had bothered me that I wanted to use wiriless, I have little space, but in my computer with wireless it never worked, in another computer where I tried it to see if it was faulty, it worked, it depended on my pc,
now I would like to reuse the tablet, at least for coloring, I think maybe I could use it to try to improve my drawings, make them more finished, color, everything I do, they are sketches, even if I try to improve.
to try again with digital for 2 years I dreamed of ipad, maybe pro but it is out of range, so either reuse my intuos or nothing.
The newer addition has the better stylus which in my opinion is worth it but the tablet itself is pretty much the same!
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW thanks
Thanks Lawrence. The Wacom is here and it is like night and day compared to the Huion. I'm never going back :)

Why do they provide the sand paper? (at 4:25)
This large size's price is closer to Cintiq Pro 16.
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW Cool. I'll check out the Ergonomics playlist. Thanks for uploading all these good quality videos.

Yes thats correct, all the money is about the wacom Pen not the tablet, i think its one of the best on the market
Trouble is that now in 2022 all tablet brands have that exact same pen technology and Wacom no longer lead the market in pen technology :O
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW which Pen is equally good as wacom?
i keep thinking about the large size tablet and what it would benefit me.
This is one of my favorite tablets, perfect for on the go and even at home, will prob plan to get a huion 191 for 500 as a upgrade.
I am planning to pick- >
a) 32" 4k monitor + Intuos Pro Large ($2000)
Vs
b) 32" 4k monitor + Cintiq 24" or 32" if year goes goo lol ($3400-$4000++++)
Decisions decisions!!!!!!!!
What would you choose out of a) and b) ? :-)
Really depends what kind of work you do! Digital art I'm guessing or are you a 3D, video, design kind of person?
Yeah all kinds :-)
Well then if money is no problem - go for option b)!
Would it work if I'm right handed?
Does the wacom tablet ask about handedness when you set it up?
Yes. It is normally set up for right handed people. You actually have to go an extra step to make it left-handed.
When you said it is better than Apple Pencil, I just understood it has that ergonomic patented intuitive touch. Thanks for sharing the review. $499 worth the money for my "creative, and sensitive" mindless mind :)
Lawrence, I need your opinion! (Long post coming)
I have been getting the urge to explore more digital art lately and can't decide if I should get something mobile, like a Mobile Stuido or Ipad pro, or should I go for a Pen Displays like the Wacom Cintiq or Dell Canvas.
End of March - Spring. Sure I mentioned that in the video. Did I not?? If not let me know and I'll do a fact update video for everyone.
Lawrence Mann Thanks for all 😁
Always a pleasure!
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW Got it, thank you for reply!

No but some people have complained about nibwear. I have discovered a US company that make an amazing protective sheet to stop this.
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW again, thank you! You have been super helpful. Very much appreciated.
Question: Is there still this moving tip of the pen which makes it really not good to ink?
Moving tip?
Yes, moving tip. Very small move at the begining of a stroke, the moment you would start to paint a line. Did you have the old version?
There was a spring loaded tip previously. That was on the Pro Pen 1. This does not exist on the new Pro Pen 2. Overall, the new nibs are more flexible.
Nice, thanks

What's the disability?
I have general Dyspraxia with moderate Dysgraphia.
However you choose to face it.
they need a stand for that, a little bit of inclination would be amazing
Huion sell a tablet stand on Amazon and you can use that with this tablet.
Large is always better ;)
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW Got the Intuos Pro Large, feels huge but great. I'll update you on how I like it whenever I can. P
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW Got the Intuos Pro Large, feels like a giant touch-pad.
With all of these tools you have done reviews for what are you gravitated to the most?
No, it was the drivers.
Plus every model is different and it's not a brand thing (or at least I'm not that biased. haha).
Would you compare HP Zbook G5 360 studio pen TO this one?
I keep trying to talk to hp and getting nowhere :(
Hi i'd like to see comparing wacom pen 2 2020 and apple pen 2 2020

The Intuos Pro does not have a screen.
The Intuos Pro's pen makes a slight creaking noise when I use it. Do all tablet pens do this?
🤔 we never had this problem in the 90's!!
hi! is it right to purchase this vs new cintiq 16 for first steps in digital art? not for me, but for my daughter. 👍vid!
Perfect tablet for her first steps into digital art. The stylus won't give her any troubles and it just works straight out of the box!!
The texture sheet is only an optional extra if you want a smoother or rougher texture. Seriously I wouldn't worry about it.

Nice! You're using my Mouse :)
The Logitech trackball? I love this thing! Have you seen the new version? It looks pretty good but I still love mine!
What size to get for 24 inch monitor? medium or large?
I'd go for the Large. As close as you can is always best. It just feels more natural when you are doing larger strokes.
is there anyway that i can use the pro pen for the 13hd. i bout one for it and didnt realize
Pro Pen 1 or Pro Pen 2?
Dante Keane I saw that u already bought it. It was my opinion for people who want to buy it. So what is this method? Spaghetti? :D
A cheap fix might be to do what Sinix does and tape some drawing paper over the drawing area on the Wacom Tablet.
good review but ma question is wacom intuos pro large with a powerfull 4k computer can compete against wacom cintiq pro 32 or 24?thanks

And the "workstation" that I have right now is just a laptop with a low energy core i7 with discrete graphic card, with an old Bamboo CTL-470
If someone can help me decide what is best I would really appreciate!
Too many celebs do that already :O
Happy to help in any way I can #SpreadTheWord!
Shhhhh ;)
Lawrence Mann I bet Wacom costs a pretty penny! It was definitely cheaper to buy n-trig, lol.
Haha - most certainly! #RunnerUp
Why do you say he pro pen 2 is better than the apple pencil?
Because it is. Rotation, tilt, hover (inc. hover & press) 8k pressure, choice of nibs and 3 programmable buttons. Going on specs alone and not talking about personal experience, the Wacom Pro Pen 2 is superior to the Apple Pencil.
There are things I like about the Apple Pencil but in terms of cold hard facts it does loose the fight. If you prefer Apple Pencil then cool. Personal choice is a big part of choosing your device.
Does it work with MS office tools? Thx
You can programme the keys for any shortcut / key combination on the keyboard.
i don't know if i should buy the medium or large! any advice?
I always say bigger is better. What size screen are you using and what type of work are you doing? Is it detailed painting, photo editing, vector work, comic book illustration?
i work on my 15 inch MacBook … i'm kinda into all of these! painting is my hubby but i want it mostly for photo and video editing and i want to start realistic digital painting more serious…
Go for the large then - it'll match your screen size and the two being the (almost) same size will make it a lot easier. Plus, you can rest it over your keyboard if you want to sit the Laptop on your... lap.
Get another brand, the pro pen 2 is absolutely awful
Z0Z0Z Offical I bought it ,actually it’s good i think you might use a very expensive tablet that pro pen 2 seems awful to you,but for a beginner like me it’s ok
is it capapble with old airbrush or old stylus from previous versions?
Nope. It's Pro Pen 2 tech so the older pens won't work with it. What are you currently using?
Lawrence May I ask you why the comment with the Wacom support links is not visible?
Can you compare it with the medium is it better bigger board for digital painting.
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW sorry I meant how would it be different apart from size. Like with painting?
Obviously the design of the tablet but it's personal preference. For me a 16" tablet is the smallest I can work on on a day-to-day basis.
You're very welcome Michele! Hope it works. Stay subscribed :)
Hi, your review is a couple of years old, would you still recommend this model?
Yes, depending on the deals you can get. There are other tablets out there now that are very similar but I still think this is superior. It depends on your budget.
Could I also ask whether the Wacom Cintiq 16 would be a good buy? He's quite keen on having a screen, although he does have a very good laptop. His budget is about £400. Many thanks for your advice.
These days for that budget you can get a good tablet with a screen but you can also look at brands like Huion and XP-Pen as well.
Many thanks for your help.
How did you do that? can you draw in a mirror effect with photoshop? :)
Yup . thanks . I pasted my desktop there, I do not have it, maybe I have to update photoshop probably :)
Check your Creative Cloud App and it'll tell you if it needs updating. I think it's V19.0.1 we're on now.
19.1.0 - I mean!
I love this tablet but man, that nib wear is terrible :/
And since I live in the other side of the globe, getting replacement nibs isn't such an easy task.
What country are you in?
Iraq, unfortunately :’)
Yup, that might be an issue!
Does it must be windows 10?
What OS are you using?
I am using windows
7, 8, 10?
I am using 10
Will work perfectly sir!
anybody having issues with bluetooth?
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW I did everything you mentioned. I have an early 2015 macbook pro.
Eyyyyy Fellow lefty
Always glad to see more!!!
Is the pro pen 2 thinner then the older pro pen?
It is unnecessary to say 'big big.'
stick to huge then?? haha. Didn't realise I said 'big big' lol. that's funny. What was the time code on the video for that?
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW Y
You said 'big big' at 6:17.
Should I go for M or L?
Two rules of tablets from me: Pen tech is the most important thing AND bigger is always better! Hope that helps buddy! Stay subscribed!
Budget tablet? This is the single most expensive non-screen tablet on the market.
Exactly... When compared to all other tablets, especially monitor tablets, this is a budget tablet. Especially for professional artists as I stated in the video.
why are most artist left handed?
Only the best ones! lol ;)
@@hehehehe9240 i would say no
@@hehehehe9240 unless you have the money
I miss the pth-851...
Interesting! Have you seen my video about unboxing the 1997 Wacom? ;D
Hah, you almost got me xD.I had the impression it's about the new Cintiq's.
It wasn't a trick!!! I would have said openly 32" in big letters!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
I know. But, I just saw there's a notification from you and I didn't even read the title, just clicked directly :P
I keep pushing for info. Not sure when it's gonna be. I can tell you that it's not this week!!! :(
Oh and as of your question from the video.
Too expencive, for that money you can buy Huion tablet where you can actually see what you draw
Is it made in china?
Haha. Everything is made in China.
Which country made Wacom china?
Wacom is Japanese but Obviously a lot of components will come from China like 90 of electronics is the world. That or India.
What does it matter?
So if it's from china it's not fake?
sorry for asking lots of questions
Huion Q11K v2 for 1/5th of the price...
Agreed. But people trust the Wacom brand for many reasons. Is the price the only reason making you want the Huion?
Intous Pro Medium
So you're still using the ProPen 2 - Did you contact Wacom? What did they say? If you haven't yet then try calling them. Phone support is always really good for getting things sorted out super fast I find.
Ok, will try
Cool. Let me know how you get on! Tweet me @LAWRENCEcanDRAW if you send @Wacom a message for help.
One word GAOMON. GAOMON PD1560 15.6 Inch
Opinion: You need Wacom Intuse Pro Large to become a better artist
disliked...
