I just want to say that this is supposed to be a hobby. It’s supposed to be fun. As someone who just got involved in this world, there is a lot to it. Much more than I ever knew. I’m still learning, but I didn’t know about the different sculpts belonging to that artist, then there is another artist painting them. Not all the people I’ve come across since I started researching buying a doll have been rude, but I’ve gotten attitude from quite a few. This is not stuff that the average person knows. I had one person scream at me bc I called a silicone baby a reborn doll. You would’ve thought I had just cussed her out with the reaction I got. I would just hope that everyone doing this doesn’t want to discourage others from getting involved and treating people that way could make them not want to be involved. I would never intentionally insult someone or buy a stolen sculpt knowingly. Again a lot of us are new and just trying to figure everything out. Thanks for showing your beautiful doll!!!
Hi Kellie. I only buy and paint dolls that I like never dols that everyone else is getting. I love Reva Schick babies and maybe 1 or two sculpts of other artists, I also know I cant make babies with closed eyes. To me the bonding was when I was feeding my babies and they were looking straight into my eyes and often smiled and I loved that so to have a baby doll that never opens their eyes is not for me, but I respect that people like different things for different and very personal reasons, I will never tell anyone what to like or how to spend their own money, I just forcus on myself. I also stay away from drama. If there is too much of it in someones videos I will stop going there. I love this hobby and making these babies because it is relaxing and rewarding for me, I won't allow others to ruin it for me. Have a great week.

Yes you're absolutely right everybody can have an opinion but when people go out of their way to harass people just because they have a replica that is not okay and some people can't afford the authentic kits because they're so high in price and they shouldn't be damned for it just because they want to start the reborn doll community with a replica cuz that's what they can afford with their budget. And not only that they are new to the reborn doll community and don't know anything about it. And yes it is their money and they can spend it on whatever they want to. This is what the reborn doll community is all about having dolls in our collection. And no one has the right to make up a rule the only authentic kits matter. I have a large collection authentic reborns and high-end silicones in my collection and some of them are Claire Taylor dolls and I also have replicas in my collection cuz they are kits I wanted but the prices for an authentic was way too high for my budget. And I shouldn't be harassed because of it it's absolutely ridiculous these are dolls not real babies. And so are all of us are here for the enjoyment of this like you said. I like your conversation but I just had to be honest I love this hobby and I'm not going nowhere.and have a great Sunday 😀❤
Hi Kellie. I agree 100% with steering clear of these "reproductions" because they were reproduced without the permission of the artist who did the work. I would never buy one. People will buy low end copies because that is what their budget allows. Also, they may not know these artists personally like we do and they don't understand how the action of supporting these fakes is ruining the livelihoods of so many. Forget the people who want to fight. I stick to myself. Three rooms full of dolls now, no friends. No drama. No fighting. We can never change it.

So I’ve been reflecting on the recent controversies and I think there is a clash of several different communities which all fit under the umbrella of doll collectors . There are art collectors, who value the genuine creativity and artistry of the authentic dolls. There are toy collectors , who don’t really mind if a doll is not an authentic kit, and the purpose of the dolls are different - they are to be played with , admired . I think part of the reason some people get upset is that for people with trauma , if they have a doll for therapy purposes , or if it’s a doll that looks like their own child (whether it is an authentic kit or not) it can be triggering for them to have people make comments about its appearance etc. I think there can be an intersection of these communities as well and that’s where it can get confusing.
Yup, I think you hit the nail on the head here and I agree with you. But I do have to say that if people are easily triggered by someone’s random opinion over their doll then they may want to stay off of social media. Trust me, it happens to me all the time and not everyone will like our dolls and many can be quite harsh about it and if you take things like that personally then social media may not be the best place to be. I never try to be mean or hurtful but I am very matter of fact when I chat about these things and no matter how hard I try, I still upset people, although it’s never my intentions. I don’t think people were trying to hurt you when they expressed their opinion on your babies just like you weren’t trying to hurt people by expressing yours. Everyone thinks their opinion is important but it’s only important to them. I can hear the joy in your voice when you speak about your babies, I’m so glad you enjoy them so much. This world can sometimes be a scary, mean & bad place and for all of us who can find a little comfort & joy in our hobby, we all should be grateful. I know I am.
