Kush's suspicion of Barry's sudden knife skills is so funny
Pretty sure the sous-chef was caught by the head chef for only giving 2/3rds of his energy! Guess that means that gotta work him harder now that the cats out of the bag!
Also Barry's suspicion of Kush's appreciation!
@@netsquall basic survival instinct that
Barry's main problem has always just been effort. Man showed up to a pasta skill battle with no timer and spent most it reclining on a couch watching CZcams. He's pretty good when he wants to try. The issue comes when the timer starts or he has to follow instructions from someone who isn't kush XD
It makes me think that there could be a fun opportunity to collab with Too Good to go - making a dish out of whatever you get from the bag that day 😂
That's a great idea!
This should definitely be a goal in the future
Too Good to Go is too unreliable. Some days you can sign up for 5 different places and get nothing in the end. You're better off just having a random person make a random purchase so that you at least know you'll have anything to work with. Ask Atomic Shrimp.
Great thinking!
@@craftiebrownive been quite regularly getting to good to go's for a couple of years now, ive only had one cancelled once. I have never heard anyone else having such disappointing experiences.
I might have been very lucky, but i think having 5 of them cancelled in the same day is extremely unlucky
Of course the contents vary, and some definitely haven't been great, but that would be part of the challenge.
We need to put a stop to competent Barry.
Him and Kush are entirely to happy together 😂
🤣
They are both new dads! They are just delusional from the sleep deprivation! They will go back to them lovingly ribbing each other in a year or two! 💕
@@ButyoucancallmeKat Love rubbing each other!? Mate, what's that about?
I am very scared that Baz is starting to think like Kush ........very scared
@@lewismaddock1654 it's about Kush quietly coming up behind Barry and gently nibbling on his earlobe then whispering "Order up chef".
I love how Kush is gleefully off the rails but also perfectly in control at the same time. He's such an amazing addition to the on-camera Sorted team.
You can tell Kush had kids now, the whispered “eggies” 😂
Or could be a B. Dylan Hollis watcher as well.
That or Dylan B. Hollis has been on his shorts recently.
Yup, as the parent of a two-year-old, I thought so too.
@@Finwolven We'll know for sure next time he needs baking powder. If he asks for floof powder, then we know :D
I feel like that would be an amazing collaboration they already cook from old books so now let’s get the baker of old books in.
I loved how happy barry was when kush complimented him
Also, like proud, but still modest ☺Baz's a good lad :)
Barry was amazing!!
One of the big takeaways I've had ever since Kush started appearing on camera is that the blender is your best friend and good use of a food processor can let you make anything "more cheffy" without a ton of effort.
Exactly this 😆
Ffs. That isn't a good thing.
Why not support a locally owned coffee shop? Give them some free press and have access to higher quality ingredients
@@calgaryguyyyc Because the whole format is to take mass-produced fast food garbage and make it nice. There's no challenge to making something good out of coffee from a local shop or goods from a local bakery, they're already good.
@@gso619 transforming is the challenge. They mention nothing of the quality just the transformation
The "I'm not trapped in here with you, you're trapped in here with ME" vibe from Kush in this video really cracked me up.
I really like how flexible Kush is in general. He takes suggestions, runs with them, and delegates tasks well, all while maintaining order. IOW, "he plays well with others".
He is a high class chef with years of experience and ebbers trust him
"Stunning onion" is phonetically satisfying at the highest level.
Yay, Kush for acknowledging Barry's skills and praising him. I think so many have gotten into the habit of poking fun at Barry's sous-chef apron and thus his accomplishments fall by the wayside. Great positivity, and fun vid! 🥰
Kush's positivity is just infectious. He is so often highlighting good work by the others on Sorted, encouraging them to be their best self. He is the kinda guy that you need on a team. Absolute champion. Love Kush.
Find yourself a woman that smiles at you like Baz does at his onions.
I love how Kush has so many facial expressions when he's not even sure if his idea is going to work but he just wings it and commits. Great video!!
Barry biting the cheese pull.... I laughed so hard my entire household was wondering what happened :p
Barry having his head tilted ready to go while saying "up, up, up!" I was just waiting lmao
I miss read that as cheese puff and was so confused but then the video actually got to that moment and I understood.
Why is this not higher up?!! I laughed so hard my toddler asked if I was okay 😂
Damn fine job Barry/Kush, I wonder what Ben and Jamie would be like if they could be as in sync and produce something like this?
I'd like to have seen Ebbers judging and trying to guess what the source was.
I know Barry got some grief from the other guys about his Sous Chef apron, I thought he earned it, but it would be cool to do a series and send him to a culinary program like the chefs went to so he could elevate his skills more and we could learn what it takes to become a chef.
Personally I would love to see Mike and Jamie do a few chef skills battles and the winner of those gets the chance to challenge Barry for the Apron. 😂
Basil at the culinary school, I'll watch that in a heartbeat!
To be honest, with how sparse Barry appearances have been lately, I thought that's exactly what he did, take a cooking class or something to earn that apron more.
Or even spending a week as an apprentice in a professional kitchen
The pure joy on Barry being appreciated by Kush is very cool to see. Made my little dinner and yt quite wholesome!
These two work so well together, always fun seeing them do these kind of videos
So glad you enjoy seeing this duo 😁
@@SortedFood I mean, I enjoy every duo, but it's nice seeing Barry being an actual sous chef and doing whatever insanity Kush asks him to (and even gives his insane ideas to add to whatever they're doing)
Kush is so encouraging and attentive as a teacher but also very precise. And you can see Barry brought his A game today, determined to earn Kush's stamp of approval and he got it, in spades! I love that while Kush can be bluntly critical but also be generous with his appreciation. Kush is known for bringing the chaos but in these food forward videos, he just slips so naturally into the role of a teacher, just happy to share and encourage learning. And Barry, famous for being an 'out-of-the box' thinker matched beautifully with Kush's maverick ideas! What a delight to watch! Kudos, as always, to the Sorted Team! ❤
Really nice to see them working without a deadline too, the pace of this was lovely. Very instructional from Kush and I love his calmness (in fairness he's pretty calm even with a deadline, just more chaos monkey also in those circumstances - which does have its own charm too)
Kush giving such direct (and indirect) compliments to Barry this episode is honestly both wholesome and really funny xD
Love Barry stepping into his Sous Chef role so brilliantly... And then taking a bite out of the pulled cheese in midair 😂❤
It's nice to see Kush and Baz working together while cooking, as opposed to the intense rivalry and disdain that Kush usually has for "Sous-Chef" Barry.😂
Happy to see them together!
Yes, I like this dynamic so much more, they actually work well together and it's a joy to watch.
@@cstz Brings a tear to my eye!😁
The difference between Barry being in the kitchen with Kush, compared to being in there with Ben, is amazing. With Kush he actually seems to learn things, and seems to feel a sense of pride and reward for what he is doing. When he's with Ben, he's pretty much just mucking around and not paying full attention.
Kush really has been an amazing addition to this channel.
Barry forever in high school with professor ben
I think it's because Ben expects him to go by some rules, and Kush is so out there that it seems like there aren't any (except there are, you just don't see them under the mayhem).
@@TheSeatedView I think it's also that Barry has known Ben for well over 20 years, long before he was ever a chef, and Ben is in that family/friend you've known forever category where you're not really trying to impress them so much and you're not necessarily going to listen to them so much whereas Kush was a professional chef with a lot of experience when they hired him so there's naturally a bit more of a desire to impress him.
I really loved Kush and Barry's chemestry on this video. For a long time I thought they had some beef, but this video totally changed my mind. They work very well together.
I've always looked at it as Kush demanding more of Barry since he has the sous chef title.
I think the thing I like the most about this channel, and this particular challenge, is getting a glimpse into the mind of a chef. How someone can take literally dozens of ingredients they're not accustomed to putting together and yet in the end the dish looks like something that should be on a menu somewhere. Absolutely bloody brilliant. The teacher-student vibe was great too. Thanks fellas.
10:47 "That's mad. This is Kush."
Well, that pretty much sums it up.
Kush could even make cornflakes taste good, the man is a genius. We need a Kush Burger king
Have you never eaten a cornflake tart? It's not a stretch to make cornflakes taste good.
Cornflakes taste pretty good if you don't eat sweets often. There's a natural corn sweetness and with a bit of honey or a sprinkle of sugar it's a nice simple pleasure.
And here I thought I was being innovative having bulked some leftover fajitas from takeaway the other day with some rice and spices to make a pseudo stir fried rice. The way you all can take a look at premade food items and say “i can use the components of this to make something entirely different” never ceases to baffle me
Oh this is one of my favourite formats! Love to see Kush's cheffy brain at work (and seeing Baz being ordered around is quite a fun bonus 😅)
Also, I can't stop laughing at the excited/curious "oh two course meal?" followed by the completely nonchalant "No, just two directions"
Kush was being very complimentary of Barry today 😆
@@SortedFood As they all should be - from time to time. Gives balance to the format!
@@SortedFoodBecoming a dad _is_ really warming him up, I see 😂
I'd like to see them try it without any extra ingredients. The format tbh (and no pun intended) has got a bit stale.
@@SortedFood I think Barry earned it in this video. He was working with Kush, instead of for Kush
Barry definitely levelled up for this video
Kush is right, he and Barry work beautifully together
How about helping out a local independent fast food joint using their specialty foods

Guys, I love you lot and your videos so much, I've honestly been watching for 10 years now, I'm not sure why we're still having to mention companies that we should be boycotting coz they're financially supporting a literal Gen*cide ?
No they aren’t. Do your research. A manager or starbucks’ parent company (or something) is a Zionist, as are 90% of Jews. Big deal
Kush's enthusiam to cooking is so good, he's such a good addition to the team and such a good decision to put him in front of the camera
This was genuinely one of the most entertaining videos lately. They worked so well together!
Barry looked so happy lol. Amazing knife skills!
I agree with Kush, Barry did a great job. Love this format where it is challenging but they can take their time.
Kush: All of a sudden Barry is helpful and skilled. What the hell is going on?
I blame Kush for this one. He is just far too good at coming up with on the cuff ideas, ready to fly completely of the handle with whatever he does. Had a blast watching this. Thanks for the upload.
Ben needs one using only food from Gregg's
Yes!!!! There are probably a lot of great things the classic sausage roll could be turned into :)
@@SortedFood Besides massive innuendo? :-)
@@SortedFoodadd Big Mac. Ben still hasn't eaten one 😂
The look of glee on Kush's face when Barry said "a cheesy bread and butter pudding" sent me. Barry got him totally
Can you please make Ben to do one of those episodes ? For example, turning a Big Mac meal into "gourmet food". I think he would hate it, and it would be great fun for us to watch.
I see your big mac and raise you a Greg's
@@thomasandrewclifford😆
@@thomasandrewclifford I can of course also be a Gregs. Just any kind of fast food, which Ben would normally not touch (or admit touching it).
I love the idea that Kush keeps saying he wants to do a burger so instead that goes to Ben :D
God I love the duo of chef+Sous-chef *actually* working in the kitchen as chef and sous-chef.
Barry enabling Kush to focus on what to do and assisting with ideas and prep was oddly nice to watch.
Would be awesome to see a normal+chef thing doing an waaay over-engineered dish in time that would be impossible on your own, normal prepping for the chef to cook.
It’s not a Kush episode without a blender and a torch 😂
I'm so glad Kush became a larger part of this team, imagine the power-couple him and James would be!
"Dry fry?" "Yes, there's enough butter in there" Proceeds to add some 50 grams of extra butter.
I have to give credit where it's due. Barry absolutely stepped up his game and impressed Kush. Though I do think that with Kush by his side, helped. Kush seems to have that natural "Teacher/mentor" approach, where it seems like he can put people at ease and help build them up.
As a Starbucks barista, this brought me so much joy. And I am going to be seriously considering frappuccino panna cotta in my future.
i like how kush said "yeah dry toast the chocolate croissants thers enough fat in there" and then after 30 sek puts a giant knob of butter in there LOL
That's because he decided to caramelize them with sugar and butter
You can take the chef out of the Michelin kitchen….

I’m a huge fan of carbs, sugar and coffee. This episode spoke to me in a nearly spiritual level. The dessert, I think I will dream about it.

Yes, I loved it!
That was a great reference for the ones in the know
I always learn so much and end up hungry after a Sorted video.
Kush taking an absolutely massive bite and just chomping away while Barry just talks 😂
Wow! Kush and Barry were 'of one mind' here. Really loved the ebb and flow of ideas and tasks. Nobody would believe the origin of the ingredients that gave birth to those dishes. I'm in awe.❤
We need a chef vs chef version of this!
Reduced roulette is my favorite game to play. Trying to cook a meal out of whatever is in the reduced sections of the shops :)
"You're going to get your apron on" gave me Captain America and Tony Stark "Put on the suit" vibes 😂
For how sassy Kush usually is, I always love how wholesome and supportive this duo is 💕
I was literally saying to myself that Barry was really keeping up with the ideas with Kush so well, that despite how close the skills challenge points were, he def earned the sous chef apron... then moments later Kush: "That's stunning! Barry Taylor you've started to earn that apron!"
Yep, not even 2 minutes in before a blender appears. 😂
I'd love to see this format try a milliary daily ration pack (MRE) for the source ingredients.
I love that Kush now genuinely asks Barry for advice or just "please tell me what's in your brain" during these challenges 😊
Kush is " Da Man " Barry's onion work is beyond me.

The fact he turned cold starbucks items into proper food - Kush is an absolute monster in the kitchen lol. Barry was a kickass sous chef though that can't be denied.

“Aren’t we boycotting Starbucks”, did they ever say that? Have they ever come out in a video and said explicitly “we support Palestine” or “we support Israel”?
