We have a very busy week with new CEO's appointed at SIE and Sony's FY2023 financial report card! We have a lot of sales data regarding PS5 and it looks like the console is officially exiting its peak years. Elsewhere in the week we have a lot of game rumors about Sly Cooper, God of War Ragnarok, a LEGO Horizon game (weird) and Jason Blundell's new IP at SIE. And we of course have the May PS Plus Extra & Premium lineup, alongside the news that new PS2 games are finally coming! There's even more news in here, but I'm already bursting at the seams in this here description. It's getting mighty tight, so I'm gonna hit the ol' dusty trail.

I want a Killzone Remake Collection: KZ 1-4 & Mercenary
I have been playing video games since the NES and this generation has been the most underwhelming I have lived through. The PS5 and Series X are slight upgrades from last generation and the Switch despite it's lack of power has provided more entertaining games then both.
Okay. Maybe play some more games besides boring hand holdy cinematic crap.
I really like the PlayStation 5, it's a really solid machine. But you're absolutely right this generation has been by far the most incremental graphic upgrade I've ever seen.
I'll never forget when I bought a Dreamcast or a PlayStation 2 and was unable to believe what I was seeing, I sure miss that feeling.
That's quite disappointing, I still think demon's souls from 4 years ago is the best looking game of this generation.

Insomniac according to the leaked roadmap is gonna release Wolverine, Venom game, Spider-Man 3, another Ratchet & Clank and in 2027-2028 is their new IP

Lego Horizon is genuinely weird idea for a game yet at the same time I still kinda dig it. I love Sony's first party studios as much as the next guy but I will admit that their family friendly output has been lacking in recent years to say it best.
I would have preferred they've made a Lego collaboration game with LittleBIGPlanet, LBP and Lego share a lot in common, just like Minecraft, Roblox, and Fortinite.
Right. Besides LittleBigPlanet and Ratchet & Clank i cant think of any other family friendly games from PlayStation. I would love to see more.

Horizon's target audience leans more towards people in their early 30s.

In fact, I've already forgotten a majority of what happens with the first Horizon game besides the fact Alloy gets a holographic machine, sees ghost projections, and fights robotic dinosaurs.

I would definitely be excited for a Lego Horizon game. I love the Horizon franchise.
I personally wouldn’t be interested in a horizon lego game but if by having a game gives us real lego sets, that would be dope.
One reason for PS5 sales down is most players are waiting for PS5 Pro release this year. Playstation needs to make more exclusive titles for PS5 only, this includes 2nd and 3rd party developers as well.
Another reason is there is still no real big reason to not just use your ps4 because most games are still coming out for it

And all the games I buy cost $40.00 dollars or less.

Games don't take long to make. They're easier to make now than ever before. Bigger studios just choose to waste millions of hours and coins on "big IPs" that may or may not sell well.
I'd rather have them do more smaller games for a change.

So happy to hear Jason is still over there working on something, it was really disappointing when it was announced that he left in 2022. I'm curious to see what he does next given his history as a game director (or whatever his official position was at Treyarch). If he tries to continue the zombies formula outside of the CoD license or if he does something completely different and ambitious. The safe bet would be just another CoD zombies. But that dude has been working on those since 2008 (I believe he was there helping JZ back then) so I can see him wanting a change.
I expected to see new PS2 games on the PS5, but surprised that they will come out for the PS4 too, I'm curious if there will be any improvement in resolution or framerate compared to the original emulator they created, some PSP games on the base PS4 run poorly, Toy Story 3, for example, has some very strange framerate drops.

My friend got Ghost on PC and I PS5, we crossplayed in Legends. It works well. No you don't need to play the story to jump on MP. He did had some trouple finding my PSN in the game at firsr. The PS option was greyed out in the game menu. He had to do a restart. So no you don't need linking to PSN for playing single player story. But we need to be friends on PSN first to play together.
I would pay good money for Sly Cooper to come back.
I could be wrong but it might be the cross trophy list that's forcing the psn even for the single player.
I really liked both the Horizon games, Forbidden West is my favorite I like it better then the first. But I have no interest in a Lego Horizon game pass for me.

Sony profits are up 17%, to $27 billion. They sold 20.8 million PS5s last year, & are now at 59 million. That means by xmas next year Sony will have sold 100 million consoles. In contrast, Xbox sakes are down 31%
For GoT if Sony were smart they'd had listed legends as a free dlc or something then they just geoblocked that and listed the actual single player game internationally, as it stands they're losing a lot of sales because of a gamemode most people don't even care about

I mean when you see the sorts of decisions Square Enix makes (not releasing FF Pixel Remaster in stores comes to mind) and then later having to admit that was a huge source of income for them that could have potentially been higher had it been a wider release…it’s a wonder they aren’t in more trouble. PS5 is ahead PS4 in all markets excep for Europe. It is too expensive in Europe at almost US$600 when the PS4 at the same point of its lifetime in 2017 was just US$ 364 adjusted for inflation.
I don't understand Sony and Microsoft have really good exclusive games I don't know why they don't want to make these games again I would love to see a new Sly Cooper and a new blinks the cat I guess companies do not want to take no more that big risk cuz they don't know if these games are going to sell or not

I don’t understand the deal with Final Fantasy games going multi-platform. To best of my knowledge they already Re. You’ve FF7 Remake trilogy already going on PC and 16 is announced for PC. The whole benefit of being launch exclusive is it takes dev time down so we’re 3 or 4 years wait instead of 6 or 7.
It's more about day and day releases and planning to release on more platforms.
square probably thinks there are 20milions fans waiting on other platforms, so if they do da one multiplat they sell 30 milions for sure, but probably the fanbase is not so big anymore and sales will remain around the same i think.

Always find it funny hearing phrases like the “back half” of the console’s lifecycle concerning PS5 when, for the first two years of its “lifecycle”, no one could buy it. It was basically unavailable for two solid years. Comparing it to previous console performance over time doesn’t seem right.

It obvious why sony are removing the game from sale to those countries. Those are the same countries you can't get psn in so if they make it mandatory for you to have a psn game for ghost of Tsushima there won't be as much back lash. It the same reason why they didn't reinstate all the countries that they restricted purchase for with hell divers 2. In a year of 2 when they reinstate the psn requirement because all there other games have to now. There won't be as much backlash. Pirate software said pretty much the same thing.

I think there's more to the country's not having psn . I'm sure there's more too it then putting it on those countrys. I'm sure there's stuff they need to do before they allowed to put It in those countries . I'm pretty sure the countries have say in it too if they don't want it to happen I'm pretty sure it won't. So that may be what happens too. It might not he that simple .

Ryan - I find x-box games coming to PS5 intriguing. To me
It’s odd that Bethesda have not output new games in their franchises on x-box, including Fallout and Wolfenstein. Acquired in March 2021. Fallout 76 was released Nov 2018(fallout 4 2015) & Wolfenstein Youngblood July 2019(new colossus was 2017).
That’s not even mentioning elder scrolls.
Man I love the fallout and Wolfenstein franchises and may have swayed me to buy a new x-box if new games had been released. All seems to be from bad management and planning to me.
A new fallout game to go with the series would have been a system seller but they missed a trick big time. I’m like obsessed playing fallout 4 again on PS5.

@@fallen6969the truth is that it's comming, Sony even sent a copyright claim to a video that showed a small portion of the documentation.
What I would take away from the PS5 Pro is taht it's going to deliver much better Performance modes in games and clean some edges from the Quality modes.

So by the way also, there is a common misconception that Steam is a "global platform" it is not much different than PSN or other global platforms, I know that the more common impression is that Steam doesn't have region restrictions.... it does, this is a weird misconception that came up since the Helldivers 2 controversy, there are absolutely sales restrictions on regions of other games, not all games, but it's not something new for Steam even for Valve's own games... also please look at the regions of the restricted regions for Ghost/Helldivers... it's like Afghanistan, Gambia, Lithuania, Belarus, Trinidad, Pakistan, Vietnam (steam itself is banned from Vietnam since last 2 weeks), Egypt, etc. most of these are African regions or countries, Eastern European countries who are not always friendly to international companies, and island countries.... not all of them make sense like why is PSN not in Trinidad and maybe Lithuania, but if the cost of doing business there is more to or very close to the expected income from those areas, there is no reason for a company to support those regions, regions also have to have the infrastructure and legal framework to be able to support an online service, network, and terms of service..... anyway, don't follow the general opinion that Steam is a stranger to region restrictions on games on their store as this is not true, and by and large the vast majority of the regions restricted for PSN are places there is no reason to support a network there

Yeah. I hate it, too. I'm sick of big AAA projects, which usually overshadow smaller games (like the already mentioned Sly Cooper). Also, it's awful how long the game take to make. I'd prefer worse graphics over such long waiting periods

This is the consequences of games going mainstream. People only care about shitty games , scam games, and hand holdy games. Video games are for nerds and dorks and dweebs. And we have plenty of great games that appeal to us. But the broad mass appeal games are expensive and take a while to make, and everyone will eventually get sick of the other scam games like Fortnite apex cod etc.
More Horizon stuff? Nobody would have guessed that...

Horizon is the obvious choice for a first party LEGO game because of the awesome robot dinosaurs for crying out loud. It has to have that build quality.
I'm not paying £70 for a game! FF16 I bought on eBay, and I'll do the same for ff7 rebirth.
Waiting for a better deal doesn't bother me and should anyone else.
I basicly run on a 6 month to a year delay on games and save sooooooo much money!

I'd love to be able to play fallout 3 and new vegas on Playstation without having to stream it
The series x have some amazing quality of life features. And have an awesome quiet and easy to maintain design.
I watch other video that ps2 coming back but here is my option I think take all ps2 games off the store and update it and re realse them again with rewind feature and people buy them claim it back for free. I would like carry on ps1 psp classics as well ps2 games I want get gataway games 1 and 2 since they deserve come back and more .

If Sony Insists On Having Steam Users Also Create PSN Accounts For Their Standalone Single Player Games Like Ghost Of Tsushima Then I Honestly Don't See A Point In Them Selling Their Games On The PC Platform If They're Just Going To Go Out Of Their Way To Delist These Upcoming Releases In The 180 Unsupported PSN Countries Where That Action Isn't Possible Whereas Nowadays Any Of These New PC Releases That Are Released Would Not Be Able To Generate Nearly As Much In Terms Of Sales As How Much The Helldivers 2 Release Window Generated When It Was Set Up With PSN Being Temporarily Disabled Upon It's February Release Earlier This Year (Though)

Why it peaked? its because the ps5 is expensive and doesn't have much ps5 only exclusives. Returnal, Stellar Blade, A Spider Man 2, Few Final Fantasies, GT7, ahh yeah the rest are multiplatform for both ps4/ps5.
