I had one in 1991. The nausea and vomiting were extreme, to the point my throat bled. At the time of the bleeding and D&C I was 16 weeks (I had turned down an ultrasound because they were still relatively new). MY CG was a million and a half, which was the highest lab value the lab had ever seen. The whole thing was a nightmare, particularly because there was no internet at the time and no one had heard of it around me. There was no one to talk to for reassurance, except the Dr. at the University Hospital who was not very sympathetic (terrible bedside manner). I was told to not get pregnant for a year., and I did have weekly blood tests until my value was >1. No one said anything about chemotherapy at the time, although a CT and MRI showed a small "spot" on my lung. They gave me the option of going in to biopsy it, remove it, or "wait and see". I chose to wait and see. I ended up having two healthy pregnancies after that, but I did have 11 ultrasounds with my second child and was considered "high risk". My heart goes out to any woman who experiences this. It was very traumatic. 30 years later, I still get emotional telling people about it.
Snow storm appearance is the presentation we get in chest x-ray when the malignant tumor has metastasized to the lungs whereas grape like appearance can be seen in usg of uterus in complete molar pregnancy.
My sister has been battling GTD/ Choriocarcinoma/Placental Trophoblastic for years and now they are saying it has metastasized throughout her pelvis, a lung, her cheek and possibly her brain. Recently she has begun vomiting blood. Within the past two weeks she has had such a rapid decline in health, that the doctor's are almost giving up on her. Please enlighten me as to how she can have been under the care of multiple medical professionals for this issue for years, is classified as stage 4, but has had no recent chemo regiment allowing for this gross metastasis.
Hey, I am sorry that you did not recieve an answer to your question. I also have stage 4 GTD and am recieving treatment at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Currently trying immune therapy. How is your sister?
9:13 Mhmhm, I don't rly understand the reasoning behind the 1y no pregnancy policy, MTX has a t1/2 of ca 15h in high dose, so after a bit more than 3d d it is out of the system. Now, add bcs of chemo hepatorenal dmg, then it will take longer bcs it's metabolised/ excr via these systems. But is it rly 1y? Not that anyone would risk having a child with issues, more an academic question
