It's never enough for 2K. In the past week we have seen our first ever 100% gamble only drop with Next. Now pro pass Kareem has not only PG eligibility, but better animations than the "free" Reem. Ironically enough, the card art, which was supposed to be the only difference between the two level 40 rewards, is the same. Every time we think that things couldn't possibly get worse, 2K finds a way.
Mike Wang saying there will be no advantages to the pro pass card in the beginning of the year is a perfect example of devs not having any say in decisions at the end of the day. MW can be critiqued for turning a blind eye and still cashing the nice paycheck he gets tho …
As scummy as 2K is, I actually think the increased differentiation between free and paid Kareem is the least of their evils. For $10 you at least feel like you are getting some ‘value’, unlike packs. How can they have a promo, charge $50 USD per 20 card box, and there literally be no cards from the set in the box? It happened to multiple content creators with the new promo.
this was the best video yet!, its extremley fascinating to hear your insight into the mentality of why things are the way they are! i was engrossed the whole time, i could listen to you all day, talk about the inner workings of the decisions that they make at 2k, i cant say enough about your ability to explain, teach and paint a picture for us, unlike any other content creator ever! I thank you for your content, and always look very much forward to it, one thing i dont understand is if they see for instance, that i grind and grind to get MT, and say open 10 of the current drop packs, i get nothing, then ill spend a certain amount of money, but why does it seem, when i spend money, im still not getting that dopamine release like i want, because it seems like i always get the worst possible outcome? for instance, i open 4 elite packs, and end up with 3 DM's and 100 ovr James worthy, certainly not what im wanting, so i dont buy anymore, i lock in the set, i get Brandon Roy, incredible card, but i want TACKO or LAMELO, its like constant misery, no matter what i do in this game, never get that big dopamine rush of pulling a GOAT card, or invincible, if i actually pulled 1 id actually think i have a chance at pulling them and would spend more! When i seem to get the worst possible outcome everytime, it severely decreases the amount im willing to spend every time.
Amazing video! For real. I love all the stuff you reveal about dopamine targets in the game. It's interesting that you say that MyTeam is the abandoned mode this year. I'd agree, but I think it's a rebalancing from 2k22 and 23, where MyTeam was given the most content.
4 levels away from 40.. i been grinding hard playing only myteam.. took me basically 2 and half days to hit 40.. im also only 50 TTO games away from invincible Duncan
Bro, with Pro Pass and smart use of XP coins you can get to Level 40 In days. I only play MT and I'm level 36 already. Will have Kareem in a few hours.
I haven’t bought level skip all year but for this one for the cards it offers and rewards grinded to 20 then bought to 30 then grinded the rest now I’m at 39
They make modifications for cards that they said that would be exactly the same just different card art, but will drop the same exact same card 2 or 3 times with just a different card art like they do with the 100 ovrs
Hey Books, can you give some pointers, or do a vid guiding MyTeam people first steps in MyCareer? I've wanted to dip my feet for a while but the stuff I find online is childish and low effort, I'd only trust you to elevate the conversation as you like saying
They like to test the waters on things in this mode and they tested gamble only with the next set, if it goes well for them 2k25 will be gamble only on fridays.
Really the cycle is already over. Mostly new players getting feasted on now. No comp scene in myteam left. I haven’t seen a comp game in myteam in a month

Having that good of a card for "only" $10, that's alot more enticing that gambling for Tacko. You'll see goat Rose and pg Kareem on almost every team.

This whole problem could be fixed if they give us an option pack from each set. Just beyond stupid.
