I started following you when I saw your DJ sounds video. I then booked you the following year for a beach club in Tenerife that I worked in. I unfortunately due to a family situation didn't get chance to stay and meet you and watch the set but all the staff thanked me after for booking you saying it was the set of the summer. Being following your rise to the top ever since. You deserve everything and more. Keep up the good work.
that's dope, i remember the club! Thankyou mate
Send me your IG or FB

i'll be on tenerife late april, i just wanted to let you know, okay?
I started DJing when I was 14 years old. I had to leave it behind to attend university. However, in 2020, when the pandemic hit, I was going through some tough times. One morning, while having breakfast, a DJ set of yours appeared in my recommendations. Before that moment, I used to think that DJs simply transitioned from one track to another. But you inspired me to reconnect with music and DJing. As a result, I found emotional healing and a renewed sense of purpose. Thank you for showing the authentic joy and fulfillment that DJs can bring. Te amo, James Hype!
James, your dedication to preserving and innovating the DJ culture is truly commendable! With over 40 years of experience in the field, I deeply appreciate the fresh energy and techniques you inject into the booth. Thank you for keeping the spirit alive!
Innovating?
Proud to say that I pulled this transition off at a wedding last year. When I posted it on my IG page, Tita commented and tagged you to watch. Thank you for the inspiration brother. 🙏🏼
Can't believe that was 5 years ago! I started watching your lockdown mixes and knew you were destined for something special.
Fair play to you mate, it didn't fall on your lap, you worked for it 🔥
Your transitions and mix techniques is what made me interested in you. So happy I got to see you live this year in Dallas at StereoLive! Thank you, James!
I also discovered you from that transition video and I've been following you since then. Your style of DJing is so creative and you completely changed the game. Love your work mate 🔥
Big Up James! Your videos have definitely been an inspiration for me. Can't wait for Wild to drop!
found you from that transition and admittedly copied it for my sets for a while there too, as a mashup artist the two songs aren't exactly in key and it used to drive me up the wall but it honestly doesn't matter in the context it was being used. followed and watched in awe for the last few years at the tricks you do, gives me old school DMC vibes "real djing" and I'm all for it
YES!!! I saw the video of that sick transition and I was amazed by it because it was the most incredible one I'd ever seen. I didn´t know who were you at that time but I think that's how I started to follow you. This is a beautiful DJ story and explains a lot. Keep up the fantastic work. Let me know when you come back to Buenos Aires again. Last time I didn´t know my favorite DJ was playing in my city when I was right there. Good luck, see you sometime
You re such an inspiration. Thank you for the music!
I'm going to have to get that course! it's so cool to hear your story man, leaning into your strengths and leveraging to go beyond is an inspiration i hope to follow.
I have no idea why your channel starting appearing in my feed, but I watched this anyway. Awesome thing man! Hard work sometimes really pays if you just put time and effort into it.
like many others I started seeing your video of one more time and losing it in the lockdown, thanks to you I developed a great passion and now I also DJ in clubs, I will never stop thanking you, I can't wait to come and listen to you James, I'm waiting for you from Italy
Kudos! Took a 'normal' transition to form a whole new style and world of DJing - and when you put it like that, opens up a whole new world of possibilities for the future!
Another amazing tips from James hype!!🔥🔥
I knew I had seen something special, something like nothing I'd seen before, when I first saw you online. I started learning to dj and you were a big inspiration. Then I got into music production and moved away from DJing for a while, but hearing you talk about it gives goosebumps and I am wanting to do both! Thanks for not keeping your ideas a secret... you're a legend.
I love that you've created your own style of tricks that actually work to hype the club. That's the key. Too many DJs try to do things that work online but it's just not the same. You've inspired me to push myself the same way.
Gosh man you took me down memory lane. Ive been following you before more than friends. Youve inspired me loads ❤
That’s one thing I get tons of comments on: my technical dj skills. I can honestly say that my “skills” come from the fact that I’m at the point now where I am just watching my fingers play, versus making them play. There’s definitely a difference. I have never seen the video you speak of but the snippet you played is how I do transitions. I’ve only watch two of your videos , but I look forward to more. I’ve been djing for 21 years and I am a dj’s dj. When it’s good, it’s good, and I always love hearing about what other DJs are up to. Peace through music, keep the music alive. ❤
I love you bro been following you from the start. you are just so passionate about what you are doing.
I first saw you mixing with the lock down mixes live on the street. I loved them, seeing how people react, little party´s people dancing. I would love to see that back one day. You are the best DJ now in the scene I think James. Keep on going.
I started following you when youtube recommended me the "Get Closer: UK" video. Even with the begginer DJ experiencie I have, I could appreciate the complexity and love you put into your mixes, they realy are a whole other level. I loved the style of showing close ups of your CDjs so any inexperienced like me can learn new techniques just by watching you. You really are an inspiration to me. Thank you.
Thank you for the share. It's amazing what you do with that controller and I practice every day and dj as much as a can, but I stopped to post this, lol. Keep on flyin' man!! Respect!
I seen my first set of yours EDC 2021 I believe it was and I was instantly hooked on your music. Keep up the good work and music.
I discovered you through your dj sounds show set. Been studying every second of it. You change worlds James, thank you.
The second I saw the title I knew the exact video, I remember watching in 2018 and being hella impressed. All these years later you're still innovating, keep it up!
Big greetings from Poland, great respect for using Polish music in your sets, songs that are real classics for people who listened to this music at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Hard work pays off! Hats off to you for pushing it for the last decade or so. Well deserved!
2020 is when I first heard of and started following you! Amazing journey!
I started listening to him in 2018, and during quarantine too, I love it when he releases house tracks, Latin house, tech house and a multitude of styles in the set, I'm happy with how things are going well for you, james hype
Ferdinands field was insane, was my first festival where i saw your show and got the opportunity for so much great shows afterwards. Thanks for the get closers in London🙏 see you soon in miami.
Greetings from Germany 🙌
Good to hear the back story mate and good inspiration to level up your creativity! All the best!
I started following you after the release of "More Than Friends" and have been following your journey ever since. Dude, words can't express how much I loved the "This Is Real DJing" Series. Keep inspiring James!
This is my favourite Hype video. So far. Background info and story. Awesome
Awesome video, thanks James! You really inspire the whole Dj community!
so good m8 so so good. thank you for all your hard work james.
a massive inspiration to me!
love your stuff and cant wait to hopefully see you live one day!
What a great clip this is one of the best videos of you I’m gonna send it in my invitation for my birthday party. We are coming to see you on 21 June in Vegas 🥂🥂
Work in progress, this guy always improve is scene this is secret.
Big props James you really love music thats why you are in 1st.
Great video - well put in an authentic and honest way. Well done bru!
Hey JH, always loving your honest approach and hard work... that's why your genre is always tip top and we love to be inspired.. Top shout dude... KR ID.
Love you bro, wish you all the success in the world.
Came across you and your transitions during the first covid lockdown and then again because of DJ Carlo breaking down wh'ts happening during this transition. That made me want to try it myself and finally get some hardware instead of using a Laptop with mouse and generic DJ Software. Luckily enough I received some money back for flights that got cancelled because of covid and bought the first DJ controller. After getting used to the hardware and trying "James Hype Transitions" with different genres I realized I had to upgrade to bigger/better equipment, as I only had a 2 channel XDJ RR. And here I am today - an almost 38 years old beginner (at least I call myself that) who is regularly enjoying to stream for just a bunch of followers - and of course for myself - and finally applied for club gigs to gain some more experience. You (and covid tbh) played a big part in it. Thank you for the inspiration. =)
Actually djs used to do tricks and things not just before it could go viral on social media, but before social media as well.
My first encounter with James Hype was like a 3 deck mini mix video on your YT like from 8 years ago, got me hooked :) Big Love James! You came a long way
incredible video thank you james!
I follow you about 6 years and i start djing following your videos and lives and bro, i think you are the king of technical djing and after i see you for the first time in Sondrio Italy at Dreamland festival I found the courage to get involved and for this I have to thank you because you are the reason why I still DJ. SO THANK YOU BEAST
Very motivating as always 🔥 thank you James
Best dj and best motivational speaker, love you dawg❤
You are all the inspiration for us, thank you. ❤
I discovered you in 2019 and when the pandemic hit , i saw all your dj sets and you are a role model to me , I’m a dj too and i just got my first big festival booking ever , i learned your consistency and dedication and everything is possible, i saw you live in edc Mexico and that was so amazing to see one of my inspirations in real life , keep going James
Your radio 1 essential mixes are the best 🎉
Would love to see you do some of your Open Format mixing that you have talked about doing back in the Day before you moved over to just spinnin House.
Always love the insight and giving the reality of it. Seriously inspiring
cool story
i really like ur music keep it on
and big shoutout from germany
First track I’ve heared of you was Dancing and I really liked it. Started following you and watch out for ur releases so I could get them first and play them here in the Netherlands. I remember when you released Ferrari so well. essentially everyone liked that song. Started hearing it on radios few weeks later.
What I like about you is that next to just being a good dj and producer, you also show an unfiltered no bullshit way how you do the tricks and how you produce and that is super rare. I wanna thank you for that because getting that knowledge can really help people with a similar dream as you had out.
Dope video bro. I remember seeing that one more time to losing it transition and I was like damn thats lit.
My kids who are 4 & 3 love your Ferrari track.
James-- my greatest respect to you. You managed to push the equipment beyond what it was originally intended for. Keep up the great work bro!!
OMG - flicking the fader between a perennial dance classic and a hard drop... genius... if only you had a good videographer to translate the musical emotion to something visceral that worked on TikTok! Love you man.
Respect for how you got to where you are mate. Well done.
Yes I still remember when the video of that transition went viral and it was an eye opener to me. You inspired me to get interested into DJing, and many more. Big respect and please keep up your honest and real approach. It is highly appreciated.
thank you
I found your mixes during lockdown and I especially loved this one video of you playing at Printworks. I'm in the US so I figured since you toured mostly in europe that I would never get to see a set of yours live. I've been a fan for years and finally, this past new years eve I was able to see you play Our House. You even played my favorite song of yours at the very end, I Was Lovin' You TS7 remix. It's really surreal when you have the moment of realization that your favorite DJ is playing right in front of you and nowhere else in the world. Hope to see you again soon, I know you like playing echostage so I'll definitely be there when you return
🙏🏻 thankyou
I found you through your lockdown streams - loved the eclectic mix of tunes and really pleased for your success. I follow your vlogs - love them! Obviously you had lots of hard work to get to that point but well done, great work! I actually bought your DJ course when it first came out to learn more complex technical mixing, really recommended to anyone considering it!
You just gave me a lot of knowleadge in this video James. As a begginer, I just realize that it's important to find and master your own way to become a pro. When the extraordinary becomes the normal to you, it's because you are a real master. Thanks my man!
James, I have to say thank you because with your DJ sets, your videos and your charisma, you helped me in a difficult period, to resume the art of DJING and production and not to give up! now I have some songs out, some already published and I'm improving my way of mixing, to try to cross big stages one day. Thank you for sharing your accomplishments with your audience! they are very inspiring
great ending question. after cdjs, I decided to DJ directly from Ableton, moving away from the one to two approach. which I absolutely love that style of DJing as well! your journey is inspiring brother
Still remember getting that 3rd place on tita lau's remix comp, that was YEARS back. Been following your career for a long time bro, and u 100% deserve everything u have achieved. Super hard working artist and a great dude overall! Its always crazy to think that your name was once an unknown name to the world.
I started off not liking you so much.
But...like everything I do; if I don't like something, I continually give it chances to teach me perspectives.
You have done so my man. I enjoy your energy most of all. You keep it up, all the time. I know how hard this is..... especially on days you are feeling the dreaded negatives of life.
Well done brother.
I gotta add this in too because it's VITAL info for people like you (might already know it, I"m sure) but, being a musician first hand before djing... it's CRAZY.
My first week in djing EVER, which was december of 2022 (unreal it's been a full year and 3 months already)...I had DJ's asking me "why do you use different tempo ranges for all your songs?"
1. There is a myth that mixing low and high tempo sound like dogshit.
2. Most dj's don't understand beat patterns or BPM in general. (mind blowing)
3. Most dj's haven't touched a musical instrument to the degree of "Intermediate or beyond"
SO the conclusion is...have FUN. Don't limit yourself... I think that's what keeps bringing me back to you HYPE. You see this vision, you understand you can't stop trying things and pushing the unknown into reality!
Lets get it! It should be a community .... in fact ... I feel around 09, 10, the music that was played at festivals left major gaps for others to REMIX and edit, because they knew we could feed off each other!
That's what music is. US.
You a real inspiration man
Slept on the hype until 4 months ago, been truly inspired. Since got MacBook, ableton live (soon to be max for them mad lead synths on granulator) and Ddjs ordered. Keep smashing it👊🏻
sick video mate , inspirational ! been listening for a while , I remember your podcast with Felix Leiter from years ago haha I love more than friends but equally as much I love your remix of Good Vibes, used to bang on capital hahaha yes man
James, this is my favourite video ever. Thank you for being an inspiration.
The first time I listened to you was one time I heard of your Hotline Bling Remix in the Radio at midnight, for me it was sick that remix, and later in 2020 I discovered u again with the Streamings, it's amazing how you show the next level of dijing 👏👏
Amazing video, inspiring and challenging making it perfect for the future, I will watch it and think those words again and again "How I'm gonna make it?" That end it's was amazing 🔥🔥
You’ve inspired me after I saw your DDJ400 video 3-4yrs ago.
I ended up snagging one & have been using it since.
I’ve now upgraded to a FLX10 & DJing weekly in DC clubs.
I wish you’d come to SoundCheck again. That set was fire.
Fire transition been an OG since seeing you in Preston 🔥 need to see you again soon
Great story mate... Thanks for sharing 👍
That transition brought me to DJing aswell :D Thanks James! 😎🤙
Thank you for sharing the way you do
I'm not sure when, but in a sunday morning during the lockdown, one of you lives starts on you tube, playing super lover - turn me on x rosala, that intro whith the perfect mix and super creative trick hits me like a bomb. Than i found One More Time x losing it, instantly became a fan. You´re the best DJ in the world by far, keep inspiring people, keep creative, keep real.
Your videos and shorts make me wanna dj again everytime I'm down and when I get the feeling it's pointless to invest such an amount of money and time to prepare sets. Thank you so much. Keep it up!
Used too see Your transition videos I was like dam this is clean af
So glad I found this thanks 🙏
This is an excellent reminder that preparation and determination are powerful tools for success, particularly for aspiring DJs. Thank you James 💛
I still love your old school live stream , please do another .. ❤
It’s a great feeling to be an inspiration! Congrats 🍾
I remember the first time I saw that clip and was an instant hook. Big fan of your music since 2018. Wish you tour around South America sometime soon. Best regards from Pucon, Chile.
Best in the Business 🔥 hyped to See you in Ibiza again 🔥🔥
love this new form of content!!!
I was right there in the early years, always loving the "James Hype Remix" inserted in a mix.
Coming to see you at Creamfields can’t wait!!! Keep it real man!
I actually found about you with that One More Time clip, I remember I was watching some other DJ doing it and showing how to do it in CZcams (Carlo Atendido maybe?) I remember it was during lockdown and I always loved the idea of DJing so after seeing that video I said: Dude, this is so cool. And I bought a DJ Mixer the next day. I don't DJ Professionally but I do at home sometimes and at some clubs my family own just for fun (Can't compare home speakers with clubs ones ahaha), I always try to incorporate your techniques in some way or another because they are just fun to do and amazing to hear. Maybe one day I'll DJ professionally and all of it thanks to your dedication and skills!
Yea it was Carlo Atentifo ....that guy is sick on decks...would love to see james and him om festival
big up brother. love your stuff
53 y old Dj from Belgium here, Dj'ed far more than 10K hours. Been playing since I was 16 and started playing before CD even existed... really.....
In that almost 40Y of DJ'ing there have been only few DJ's that I appreciated for their skills.....
This actual "trick" was the first time I heard/saw you. Since that time i was a HUGE (Read is as Trump woud do) fan of you. You are so far ahead of these pre-mix DJ's today, so technical, musical superior, ....
I am looking forward to seeing/hearing you live before I retire.... Keep doing what you are doing James. Never change.
Well on ya 🎉
I’m 51 1 year into it love it ! Always stay real! Love these videos
for me as a DJ plep and knowing nothing about it, but reading all the comments like: "connor mc gregor of DJing" and something like that... know it makes sense... its not about being a great technical professor or releasing awesome toplist tracks... its a symphony of finding your style and give it a delivery, with motion, and hit the nerve of the time, with all possibilities you have and keep doing it, keep doing it, keep doing it, improve, repeat, improve, repeat. and yes... first time I saw you was in a clip and it stunned me too... but the people wich focusing on writing bad comments influenced me and got me to see you and your art as something boring, non creative... why I just allowed them to stop me from enjoying? because I was like them... knowing how something is working didnt mean you get what it means to have the passion to do it and make it your own. thank you for this video... very inspiring...
I've been following you since the lockdown in 2020 when you uploaded various clips of your DJ sets to CZcams. From there I never stopped following you and learning from you. When I heard you play live for the first time at the Drop Club in Lucca I was truly speechless, I've never heard anything like it. And I thank you again for putting the photo of us together in your Instagram story of you autographing my t-shirt outside the club🫶🏻🙏🏻
u inspired me man thanks!
What an inspiring artist 🙏🏼 keep going man 🔥
