Don't trust ANY weatherman especially one that can't even grow a beard. Columbia flooded 3 years ago. I was i living Cayce and I lost everything! That was just a tropical storm and rain. SC gov ordered the evacuation because of flood concerns. It doesn't take much to flood Charleston. A sprinkle at high tide and you can kayak down King St. SCEMD also does not want to wait until the last minute to evacuate in the event the storm changes course. The 4 main highways into the area will all be reversed to aid traffic leaving the coastal areas. It worked fairly well during Hurricane Matthew and is something that SCDOT and other agencies practiced just a few months ago. Roughly from Savannah, Greenville SC,. Asheville, Charlotte and maybe Raleigh (?) all drain back to the Charleston. Sorry weather kid, but I wouldn't chastise the SC Governor on this one.

Sorry to tell you guys but a Category 2 can leave the cities looking like war zones unrecognizable and flooded for days with winds of 110. As of now it is intensifying to 150. I've seen 110 can do but never more than that. I do my best to listen to FEMA and leave.Its not something you can guess away. Their tools are more powerful than our guessing.If you leave your blessed you want have to worry about fire Sparks in your house as the storms or raging. Staying is Horrifying.Responders have no way of getting you help once the winds start and the roads become flooded. Responders have family too they want to see again.Evacuate to Shelters, tall hotels, hospitals etc.and stay out of elevators and basement because of flooding. These places will most likely let you stay once the storms starts if you stay scarce if you have no money.Do it If not for yourself for your family children and servicemen who need you to listen for yourself and there sakes. Help when it's safe to come back.

You will get flooded out you cannot stay in your room can you get to Higher Ground I'm in Cary North Carolina with a creek Outback not far from the back door that will certainly overflow I'm leaving to go to Atlanta and let the chips fall where they may we have a walkout basement but the Landscaping is horrible and needs to be fixed it's too late now the downstairs has been renovated new floors Etc we expect to be flooded unless a miracle happens if anybody can get off the ground floor you must everybody is saying we will get a lot of flooding here in the Triangle so anybody East of here is in trouble please be wise all of the hotel rooms around here are booked. Will be praying for all of us
It’s not necessarily that your parents are cheap, maybe they want to ride out the storm, maybe they don’t have enough money to evacuate, maybe they don’t want to get caught in traffic, you never know. Just try to see it from their perspective.
