Wow! I’ve had my VL for 25+ years and I’ve always wondered what that dial on top of the shell body does (my manual doesn’t explain it or maybe it does and it just went right over my head). Mystery solved! That is so cool. Cleaning mine up to get it restored and running again. So glad I kept it all these years. It was a tank back in the day. Great video. Thank you for explaining that double to single action feature! I can’t believe I’m just now learning about that feature. Super cool. Thanks. 👍
No worries!
I would be very interested on a video with your tips & tricks on working with a VL. Thanks for the video on the needle sizing.
Thanks man. That video will be forthcoming before too long.
Thank you for this informative video. I bought a Paasche VL ten years ago and have experienced the inconsistent spraying that you mentioned. I would appreciate a video on how to prevent this problem. I'm a new subscriber. Have you done any reviews or critiques on the Paasche Raptor airbrush. I searched your videos and didn't see anything on the Raptor.
Thank you for your inspiring work. I'm an old timer returning to model making and am so glad I found your channel. Keep up the wonderful work that you do.
Thanks Frank for the kind words. I actually have a Raptor, but I don't use it much since my wife gave me a Vision for my b.day a few years back and it came with the .25 needle / nozzle combo loaded in it that the Raptor uses, so you get the same fine detail gun with a bigger paint cup in the Vision. I like the Raptor, just really don't have much use for it.
Excellent tutorial, thanks.
Thank you brother.
Great video!
Thanks brother!
Lots of information in this video! Yea, "get on that bike and ride it" is the way to go through life. I have a VL and would find it most informative if you would do a video on those problems. Thanks for that info on MCW paints as I have some to yet try. Thank you and stay safe.
Thanks Bob. I appreciate that.
Great Video!!!
Thanks Michael
Gary awesome video I appreciate the insight on the air brushes you are one of the main reasons I started using the Paasche air brushes love the H I do have a VL I can’t seem to get it to spray that good I would appreciate a tutorial or some tips me and double action has some issues I have a iwata neo I can manage fairly well but I really would like to use the VL I appreciate what you do for the community thanks again take care my friend
Thanks for the kind words Mike. A video on the VL is forthcoming! Thanks for your support brother.
Talon/Vision/Raptor/Juvel now have two extra sizes.
Size 0 - 0.2mm
Size 4 - 0.95mm
I got a bit of a challenge and could use your help. I have an old paasche VL and my needles have the rings so I can figure the size but the nozzles got mixed up and have no markings. The tip has a number but the actual nozzle had nothing on it.
I can see one has a bigger whole but I don't know what number nozzle I'm dealing with..will using the wrong needle/nozzle combo ruin my airbrush or just give different paint levels coming out?
I wanna use my number 3 needle but don't know if my nozzle is a number 3 or a number one🤷♂️
Really old VLs had the number engraved on the nozzle. The only way to tell the size now is to compare the opening.
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks brother!
Which number would you use for a 1/24 scale model car using the model H? If you answered my question in this video I'm sorry I'm trying to multi task.
I generally use the #3 needle / nozzle / air tip combination, although I have used the #5 combo as well. It puts out a lot of paint, so you have to be careful not to open it up too much or runs will be the order of the day.
@@mcmodelworks Hey thanks for the info. I have one that I haven't used yet. Got a body all prepped and ready to go. I'll practice on something and give her a go. Thanks again.
Good luck brother!
I have the Talon but cannot seem to get it to work quite right with the fan cap. Using Model Master Acrylic paint.
Is there some way that we could communicate via e-mail about this?
Sure.

You did a great job painting the Nova body. Nice discussion about Paasche needle sizes.
Thank you sir. Much appreciated!
I'm surprised you could thin Enamel with Lacquer thinner but the paint job looks great on video.
Thank Steve. Yeah. I always use lacquer thinner with my enamel paint jobs. Works very well.
I went to MCW and they have two Black Cherries. One is 5070E and the other is 8600E. What is the difference?
Looks like one says Black Cherry and the other says Black Cherry Gloss. Not sure. First I have noticed that.
@@mcmodelworks so what number was your paint
I will have to look when I get home.
@@mcmodelworks Sorry i did not realize you were at work. I am in California and I am retired and forget other people still work.
No worries
I have the Passche VL it does not have the opening in the back like yours does. Also the needles are different than the Talon.
Paasche makes an anodized handle that fits the VL and the H single action. You can order them through Paasche or someone like Midwest Airbrush. The needles are different in diameter between the VL and the Talon/Vision. Like I said in the video, the needle sizes for the Talon and Vision are .25mm, .38mm, and .66mm. The sizes for the VL are .50mm, .75mm, and 1.01mm. They are not meant to be interchangeable between the Talon/Vision and the VL.
@@mcmodelworks Thank you
