Nicki, I’m an old retired cop from the other side of ‘the pond’, but please allow me to offer some advice. NEVER drive when you’re unfit. Your reactions and concentration may well be impaired, and it’s certainly not worth risking your life for.
Having said that, it was lovely to see Camper trying to cheer you up with his squeaky toy. It was quite obvious that he was worried about you.

@@avril.227A dilemma: I have to get to this appointment which must be life and death important, because what the British cop implied was that driving while impaired at all, Is life and death and not just your own. I guess we’ll have to see how critical the appointment is. As many nomads, I’m well into retirement years and would opine to my contemporaries that many of us, travel alone at least part of the time and so have to be our own flight surgeon and send ourselves to sick bay when appropriate to reduce risk of dying today. Because death is a set back that people with white hair have seen and mostly want to avoid. The vehicle borne Nomad is a lot of walks of life I’m sure; however I noticed one demographic that is often in the #1 position for prevalence and always in the top #3 and that is SINGLE people well into retirement years (Seniors) often Women. This demographic doesn’t fit Nikki obviously, and she represents a young and normally able-bodied part of the nomad population. People would do well while enjoying Nomadic freedom, to be realistic about our ability to safely drive every time.

Hi Nikki, sorry you’re feeling bad but you still have a great big smile on your face.
Tips on your pan: i’m assuming it’s stainless steel. If so. you have to let it preheat before you use it so the pores close and food doesn’t stick as much. You can tell it’s ready if you drop some water onto the pan and it dances around. Hope this helps! ❤

I can sooo relate! I have 5 pitties and they require tons of exercise in order to keep them calm and not trying to pick fights with each other they are amazing babies but any dog gets irritable if they don’t get the stimulation they need. I recently had they flu at the same time my husband had it and we are still working to get back in schedule with the furry ones, not to mention straightening out our own mess. I could not imagine being on the road with my dogs AND being sick. Kudos to Nikki, she made it look easy lol!
Love those Love truck stops. When I traveled allot racing I was always towing a boat so I went to the truck stops where there was allot of space to turn around.

Just did something similar I drove from San Antonio Texas to Iowa in just under 20 hours right after this nasty freezing storm that went through. Trucks and passenger cars on their sides in the medium on the Burm up in peoples yards amazing.
I basically camp out in my car every 2 weeks driving back-and-forth to a job that I have away from my home been doing that for about 8 years now and I spend at least one night sleeping in the car every 2 weeks. Hard to imagine doing it every day and not having a home base or a place to stretch out and have the comforts of home. But the Van has really been a game changer for you and I hope your next vehicle serves you as well as the truck and as your prius did.
Nikki, you are young and full of energy and are on the move all over the place, but when you get sick you have to find a place to stop and rest to get well! There, I gave my fatherly advice! I hope all goes well for you this coming new year! Stay safe out there Nikki!
Camper is such a good companion! I love how he tried to cheer you up with his squeaky toy when he sensed that you were not feeling well. Such a sweetie!
You have followers all over the U.S. It'd be so great if you could figure out a way to create a vetting process so that you could let people help you when you really needed it. I'd bet that there are a lot of good people who would love to be there for you in a time of need. Sadly, there are probably a lot of creeps too.

I have a chronic illness, and at the end of 2020, my spouse/caregiver abandoned me while I was asleep. Turns out he's a narcissist, and I was starting to see through his lies, so he left me for someone else.
I CANNOT identify with the death of a spouse, but that's what it felt like. It took me 45 minutes to find the note he left.
"I can't be monogamous. Don't call me or try to find me." That's all he wrote.
I honestly thought we had worked everything out and his absence just......traumatized and is still traumatizing at times.
So the person I was so much in love with has been gone since that day. Therefore, I often feel like a widow.
All that to say, I clicked 👍 bc I truly feel like I understand both of you widowers' similar grief. 😢 😭
K legit your a G cause the fact I know editing and filming is already so much work but doing all that while sick and plus still getting all the shots. Like you have another videographer is nothing far from amazing! I seriously admire your strength so much it definitely pushes me to do better and work harder. CZcams recommended this one to me 5 months after you posted. I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather so I found it relatable. It’s always nice to see you and Camper just living and enjoying life and showing us it’s not always sunshine and roses.
Must be tough finding medical care while your on the road and not able to take sick days. Thanks for being a trooper and still managing to keep us entertained with your travel adventures. Extra thanks to Camper for showing what a great emotional support dog he can be.
not a thing a person can do with this flu except nyquil etc
Put a dash of Vaporub on your upper lip, and a big dollop on your sternum, ALWAYS wear a hoodie and thermal socks, drink loads of room temp water, and drop Tylenol Cold during waking hours, and for good sleep, drop Tylenol with NyQuil. Try to keep your internal temp/fever as high as possible, within reason. You will sweat, and feel chills, but with Vaporub and Nyquil and CONSTANT heat from clothing will break your fever much quicker. No dairy, no bread, pasta, etc. and low oil, even chili oil...and very low sugar, no candy, no sweetener, no juices. Reduce caffiene, stick with clear liquids until you're better. When the fever breaks, you will SNAP from tortured sweating and chills and fever...to 100%. Please just try it before you knock it. Great channel, great dog, yr kewl. Peace... from one who's been vanning for 12 years in a venerable '01 Dodge Maxivan 3500 with 300k. Peace.

I paid $18 for a shower at Loves when I was traveling to visit family in CA. It was $15 previously.
I came home from a roadtrip and came down with covid. My fever got up to 103 and i was on my own. No one to help. I couldn't move. My two cats slept next to me for 3 days never asking for food. I couldn't move. I dreamed of water and had to finally talk myself into getting up to get water and ibuprofen to bring the fecer down. I was sick 7 days total. I can not imagine having to do that on the road.
I'm sick at home right now by myself with my dogs & it's hard enough as it is. That was cute when Camper was trying to cheer you up with his toy.

I am also home alone with my dog and first time getting Covid. No yard so I have to walk him . He is used to me running him (an Australian Shepherd ) so a lot of energy but I can’t run now or take him to the dog park. Being alone is definitely challenging !

I swear the flu this year is some super strength bug lol. I’m on day 19 of having it and my second round of antibiotics and I’m still not back to normal.

Please get your dog a doggy seatbelt made by Easy Rider. It’s really easy to figure out really comfortable for your dog and will save his life. Former van girl here forever in my heart.

Been watching your videos for a couple of weeks now, and must really point out that driving with your foot up like that, "could" be very hazardous, in the event of an accident, you can easily break your leg / foot/ pelvis. Please drive carefully. I know it must be VERY comfortable on those long trips, but "Safety first"! Love your videos. You have alot of courage to live on the road like this.

Even sick Nikki manages to make great videos!! OH and that pan that everything sticks to is great. When the pan is hot, just add a tiny bit of broth or water to release the stuck stuff and the amazing flavor the stuck stuff has. (Not sure how cooking in a vehicle works, when moister/humidity could be a thing though) Yay Nikki, you're awesome!!

Thank you for sharing some of the harder parts of van life. In November 2019 I drove across country from Minnesota to Colorado feeling like crap. I kept wanting to pull over and get some coffee but I never encountered any place where I could. Two hours from home all I wanted to do, was pull over and take a nap, but I pushed on. Looking back, I sometimes wonder if I had Covid before we knew it was Covid anyway, I don't know how you did all that driving with such a high fever! Glad you made it to Loves that night!! I admire your positive spirit, even when you feel like dying!! by the way, I'm watching this at 2:30 AM, and Camper squeaking his toy hook my dog up. He came over to watch. 🤣😂 I feel like I'm binge watching a show that I just discovered and can't go to sleep!!

Oh I have been there. I was on a car trip from Atlanta to Ontario. Felt like hell but only had a 101 fever, which is minimal. A fever is not a concern if it is 103F or less. It's not a good indicator of illness. When I had the Big Virus, I had NO fever, and I felt like death. I live alone, so life is all up to me, I so get every single word of this video. After living through the Big Virus I bought 20 of those plastic vomit bags to keep on hand. I am not kidding. I'll not be caught unprepared again. I hope you are feeling much better.
