So sad for the men that lost their lives & the city of Baltimore!🙏🏻
Thank you. We need all the thoughts, prayers, and support we can get right now. The communities of Dundalk, Sparrows Point, and Edgemere are devastated. I took the bridge twice a day for 14 years and I crossed it not even 10 hours before it collapsed. I have never spoken with people on social media before but I can honestly say everyone's support has really helped me get through this.
Take care man im happy for you nothing happened to you. God is with yall!
I hope they found all the people who went missing.😢
There's still 4 bodies in the wreckage as it's still too dangerous for divers to do the search
AND SLATHER THEM WITH THE POLITICIANS "THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS" AS COMPENSATION?
I don't, give the fish something to eat.
Four MEN are still missing. I don't know why the news media refers to them as bodies. Its technically correct, but, have a heart, people. I am sure the families would prefer to hear them referred to as men.
@@georgedunkelberg5004Calm down sweetheart
It's sad, that those poor workers are gone. It's going to be weird, the next time I visit Maryland (born and raised), and not see the bridge.
Those other four guys are probably pinned in the mud under the wreckage.
Bless the workers and Baltimore .
So horrific.. Our prayers are with the families and friends... 🙏🙏🙏😥😥😥......
No amount of money can cover the cost of life
Cargo ships are insured for these types of things also the cargo in insured they will cover the cost and any lawsuit that come of this
Probably terrorists, or espionage!! Don’t trust BIDEN!!
This is a perfect example of overworked staff
This is so sad 😞 can you imagine? Well, it happened have mercy
It will be challenging and difficult to see the pieces of the broken bridge to be taken out of the fucking water
Hold the shipping company responsible for risk to the public. Not at taxpayers dollars. If they can’t safely operate or keep a ship maintained in our waters, they should not be in here.
*spell edit
You edited your comment once. You need to edit it again putting the word "not" in the last sentence.
The ship was cleared by the port officials to leave the port, so it was kept up to international standards.
Accidents can happen and the ship is insured, but the US implemented some liability restrictions on shipping companies after the Titanic accident, the shipping company just follows US legislation, nothing more or nothing less

I was at a cheezy motel once that was taken over locally from what was once a chain. It had a pool. There was a handwritten sign on the door to the pool.
"No Lifeguard. Swim At Our Risk."
I told the person at the front desk about it. They probably didn't even fix it.
Leaving that one letter out could be a field day for a lawyer.
Leaving the word "not" out in the above sentence changes the sentence entirely. People really need to proofread before hitting send or at least heed the correction when pointed out.
@@_five-five-FIVE I make sure I proof read before I send. What I do not understand is the spelling mistakes when they are clearly marked with a red line and a simple right click can fix them.
I hope the other four victims will be recovered soon. How horrible this is on so many levels.
So... WHO pays for this $400 to $800 MILLION dollar bridge? I can't imagine that the shipping company has insurance coverage large enough to pay for that. But clearly it is the ship owners fault and responsibility to pay for the damages... right?
The economic benefit of having an operating port in Baltimore is worth the investment
I'm sure they are insured in the billions
A scholarship fund! what if they don’t have kids WHERE THE MONEY @???? Whoever owns that ship needs to pay them families
Well duuu
An earthquake in California messed up it's highways, including a 4 or 5 level interchange.
California offered a $1M a DAY bonus if the construction company could beat the deadline.
Construction company told it's workers it'd split the bonus with them.
Yeah, they beat the deadline.
These days the workers would want to get a half bonus for building only half the bridge.

This is going to repeat as long as there is no accountability
@@JC-jk3klMaryland squandered federal COVID money under the direction of former Governor Larry Hogan.
He prided himself on being a fiscal conservative, all the while the landscape was filled with potholes and other structural deficits. He also fought collecting Internet sales taxes but had his veto overruled.
This appears to be a freak accident
And who do you think should be held accountable ?
There’s really nothing that can be done, there is no accountability to hold. The ship was having malfunctions, and it wasn’t the fault of any of the crew. Maybe we can say the company that owned the ship should’ve been doing more maintenance? But there’s no way they would’ve known it would crash into a bridge let alone destroy the bridge immediately.
As for the bridge, it would’ve been great if it was more stable, but it was also built in the 50s or 60s and obviously back then they wouldn’t have prepared the bridge for an impact with something that size. So overall, not much accountability to hold here.
@@Yui789esss It was no accident.
Bro this only happens in baltimore 💀
The loads felt like they were on titanic tho lmao 🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀
now your not bored anymore, right france
Are there ships trapped in the harbor until this is cleaned up?
Yes, there are cargo ships that can not leave, and there are groups of cargo ships waiting outside for it to be cleaned. Do a Google search for "marine traffic map" you can see every all the stuck boats.
Yes.
have a look on Marine Traffic, there's also a queue in the river to get in
Well they ain't going around.
, the entire width of the 4ivet is blocked
If this truly was a ship engine malfunction then I hope this makes authorities put more pressure on ship maintenance, inspections, and what is required for ships at sea.
I wonder if abc will investigate the construction companies if theres ties to politicians
No real update here?
It's astonishing to read the ignorant comments from people who apparently feel that, having seen the wreckage on TV, they are now qualified to comment on who's at fault, how the clean-up should be conducted, etc., then make snarky, irrelevant political comments. Folks, calm your ire and let the people actually having to deal with this do their jobs.

There’s much that needs to be addressed. Please just give those families some closure and then help those people restore their jobs and lives. They will continue letting us know that your tax money is needed. The State and government should waive any college fees for the children of those lives lost.
Wonder how this long will take
There is nothing more permanent than a temporary government project.
Real answer: how long will it take to build a better bridge.
When a new bridge is constructed surround each pier between which ships pass with what is tantamount to an oval-shaped island of rock and soil about 200 feet long in the direction of travel and 100 feet wide. A coffer dam on the perimeter makes placement easy. A few piles driven into the seabed extending into each mass provides even greater stability. Material for each island dredged from the seabed benefits the channel. Relative to the cost of the bridge this is an inexpensive and effective solution that will prevent piers from being dislodged when bumped by the largest of container ships.
CALL TEXAS AMERICA 🇺🇸!! THEY HAVE THE WORLDS BIGGEST CRANE!!!

😢It's bad enough that there were the four workers who lost their lives in this tragedy, but much worse could've been if it was during the morning rush of traffic and school busses. Thank goodness it didn't happen then! But even losing one person to this horrible tragedy is a lot. God rest their souls. I keep the families in my prayers each day as well as the surviving victims who may have to deal with the struggles of ptsd and what ifs. 🙏❤
6 deaths so far,, two have been recovered, four more are still needing recovered. The workers were sitting in their vehicles taking a break when the bridge collapsed and word is those vehicles are pinned under debris. They can't be recovered until some time thru the salvage operation.
There is also the fact that only one end of the bridge was closed moments before the bridge collapse. Could have been worst even in the middle of the night.
And where was the MV Dali's collision warning horn? But then again who would have recognized its meaning.
Thanks, correction 6 workers.
True, I don't think anyone would've recognized the warning sounds. Besides, I think it was one of those things that happened so fast that no one could react right away. I don't think no one saw it coming, not the ship, nor the workers on the bridge, unfortunately. 😔
how much will the cargo ship owner pay for this tragedy?
maritime law unfortunately heavily limits liability in cases such as this mainly to the value of the ship itself. In this case the ship is not worth much. Its owners are out of Singapore so good luck squeezing money out of them.
Leased ship, Denmark co.

That bridge took 5 years to build on Virgin soil.... They thought that was quite quick. but the new style bridges with a tall single pier and one large steel cable is much quicker...

Where is your crane footage? Your report is cranes arrived.
Prayers for all involved
My issue with the whole mess is if traffic frequently goes by, why didn’t they do something to protect those supports. If it was so easy to knock down, they should have been thinking ahead, not just reacting to a tragedy. It seems too many of those are happening. We employ and pay large salaries too people and a functioning government should be on top of things like this. We have too many people in these positions that just collect their charity and are not doing their job. Back just a few years ago, people would be held accountable for the negligence at some point. That bridge could have easily been filled with cars on it! Our Government is too concerned with pronouns vs. what their real responsibility is.
Wow , the Americans destroyed that ship and knocked their own bridge down. What a mess.
Sad facts....
That ship isn't destroyed. It's floating and once the debris is removed from it's bow, it will be towed back to a berth.
Will the rail line be rebuilt?
RIP
Choo Choo Joe will miss his train rides, he will say he was there and seen it collapse, like he said he was in Pennsylvania

Why does it take Biden so long to go visit the site when DC is so close ?
Salvaging the container ship will be a multi-step process. Besides off-loading the containers and removing the ones with hazardous materials, the dirty fuel will have to be pumped out of the tanks, then the hull might have to be repaired if a bridge beam ruptured it. If the ship is seaworthy-enough, it will have to be towed to a shipyard where it can be repaired - but then you really can't risk having it sink.
I hate, good morning America. I won’t even watch this.
I’m really sure they are going to miss you
Why did the ship lose power? There should be system redundancies built in.
Can’t afford to lose a bridge and lives with every cargo ship that veers off course.
Tug escort may need to be used if ships can’t stay on course.
Eight miles per hour with that tonnage is tremendous impact value to destroy any thing involved.

Very strange world we live in. What happened here is really sad but what happened in South Africa when a bus went over a bridge into a ravine and burst into flames is the bigger tragedy. 45 dead and most of the corpses unidentifiable. Really sad but not much world attention because it happened in Africa..
Do you think Africa is concerned about the Key Bridge collapsing in Baltimore, MD?
That should've never happened. Where were the tub boats? They needed tug boats. They were Going Out even in you have tug boats.
Tug boats or a basic barrier systems on the bridges legs. Bridge was built around the same time as the sunset bridge collapse due to a ship strike that killed like 36 people and this bridge for 40 years never got retrofitted with a barrier system. It’s 50’ deep water, it’s would have taken 6 months and less than $100 million to drive sheet piles and build out a barrier. Instead we’re looking at +$6 billions for a bridge.
Every port has different rules for tugboat escorts. For extended tugboat escorts it costs shipping company money. Ports are in competition for business so they may cut tugboat escorts short to attract more ships. It definitely needs to looked into I think. Also last I looked the cost to build new bridge there was 600 million not 6 billion. Unless it has changed.
There were tug boats, the tug boats pulled the boat out of the dock and got them into the shipping lane, exactly what tug boats are supposed to do.
@@idiotsavant7276 Statistically more bridges got destroyed by tug/towboats that pushed something into support than by single ships.
@@delta_glider4362 which brings us back to the now “low cost” question of where’s the barrier system. Bridge was build around the same time as the Sunset bridge disaster yet it was never even considered for 40 years.
