- Did I buy the Rarest MR2 in existence?? Check out the video! I have always wanted a mid-engine rear wheel drive car, afterall....haven't we all wanted to experience snap oversteer?? Jokes. I really mean it though, this car is so FUN to drive, and it being not only a BEAMS edition, it is a 1999 which means all of the suspension and steering components have been updated! I plan on keeping this one for a long time!

There are less than 360 USDM 95’s,
there are even less genuine TRD 2000GT’s, and even less convertible SW20’s. Not even close to the rarest, but still an awesome car nonetheless! Great video btw! 🤙🏻

I have a 98 Beams; so ya -they rolled them out in 98. Power is 200ps so a little less than 200hp. Talking about power; the vvti engine comes on song in high revs. That's the whole revision idea! There are rumours about the 1000 being a loose number. I know of three here in Ireland which suggests that there may be a few more. Only JDM model. I would say if you're looking for rarity, get it back to stock. Great cars.
That mr2 beams is a true unicorn as you say in the video. I also have an beams mr2, not original beams but will be pretty close by modern standards when done. I do however have the engine completely re-build and upgraded. A keeper for sure. Take good care of it :)

Any idea where a guy could find aftermarket support for little odds and ends?
Toyota will be able to order parts in most cases (engine service parts etc.). Otherwise ebay is a good place to start. It is another member on the mr2 owners fb-group that have an mr2 beams with lots of knowlege.

I am a little confused on one thing. My trans code says S54-692... any idea of this is lsd? I thought all beams cars were lsd. When I look up the code it says non lsd from web forums that is. My vin is a true Beams car as that has been referenced

Defiantly a unique model. Defianlty will be the only one at a meet with a factory beams.
I have a 1997 December Rev 5 redtop beams, it is silver with a black roof, the colour combo is called 'Sonic Shadow' it's a G or G-limited, some dealer up grades have been added, so not sure how G and G-ltd work? it's an auto, it has red numbers on the dials and other subtle 'and not so subtle' differences from the rev-4 and lower models so I am 99.9% sure it is all original, it has no rust, but minot chips, scratches and dents from 25yrs a of casual use, 140,000kms on the clock, but to get to the point, I love this car, everything about it shouts DRIVE ME FAST, I live in a Valley at sea level with a mountain road heading to the city, it has on my side steep inclines with sharp corners 555 meters to the top then going down the other side 245 meters are long sweeping downhill bends, then a few K's on you hit the motorway, 4 lanes of flat straight road for another 30km the 6 lanes of interstate bliss into the city, where you turn around and try and beat your best time home, it's a 3hr round trip but I can do it in under 2hrs.

Hey, I got it from a nationwide store here in Canada. The store is Canadian Tire. You may be able to find it online from their store. It works great in all cars. I think ebay had them too..

The mr2 you have was not a turbo when made as the G and the G-Limited were not turbos, the Gts and gt were. someone at some point must of put a turbo engine in your car. its on wikipedia.

Probably the funniest thing I have heard. MR2 being a touring car.... look up the definition of a touring car. The Mr2 is a track bread car. Not a touring car. That is hilarious.
CanadianGT iim talking about refinements over the years, there isnt much difference between the 94 g limited n this. Celica is the same. Honda looked at every aspect on integra to make it track focused. It lost against itr at tsukuba. Too bad u didnt get factory recaro option

If you were to sell it how much would you sell it for, I've never seen a car with a red engine bay and white exterior from factory like that, must of been custom ordered

I had a white '98 Beams as well, and these definetely did come stock from the factory like this but i agree the redtop motor contrasted with the white body made for some of the sickest automotive aesthetics that i've ever seen. Though i think mine looked better since it had the original rev 5 kouki wheels also they just look better in person.
How you deal with the oversteer
Grim Reaper have not experienced that just yet. This car has all the suspension/steerig revisions all the later MR2s got. I'm unsure it it's still a predominate issue.
CanadianGT does other md cars like nsx have a oversteer problem
Every Revision 2+ (~1992 to end of production) has the updated brakes and suspension in Europe and Asia.
