Staffordshire Bridges Digital Twins System Demonstration

Current bridge maintenance and assessment techniques in the UK and worldwide are based on visual and tactile inspections, which are subjective and generally lead to conservative results. Based on such techniques, 20% of the UK’s 155k bridges are reported as structurally deficient.
Our researchers presented a case study on how state-of-the-art technology such as digital twins integrated with a real-time monitoring system could be exploited to address the shortcomings of current practice.
