Me and my cousin Mike played this song many times April 12th 1981 in the wine country of Northern California on our way to a wild boar pig roast.. we got separated and he drove home back to the bay area alone..he crashed and died that early morning..miss him and think about him every time I hear this song..😢
Sending my sincerest condolences... treasure your fond memories always, peace, Tucson Az 🙏🏜️🎶🎸🙏💜🎤🎸, 🧑🦳🙏...
Had a GF a few years back who helped get me a 1997 American Fender Jazz bass that's my "go to" in my arsenal. It's warm and tender and smooth... like she was. All my basses have names. This particular one I named after her. TY Melissa.
4:20 - 5:20 is solid gold. Shows how having a great base player can compliment a great guitar player...
So beautiful... world class musicians right there. R.I.P Greg Allman
I have watched every available version of Melissa starting with videos in the 70's up until the 2 teens, and sadly you can see Mr. Allman getting weaker as time lapses. He still is awesome, but it's really sad to see a talent fade over time. It happens to all of us, despite our best efforts to fight off aging or illness. Gosh those early videos Mr. Allman was incredibly vibrant for obvious reasons. Now he will live on immemorial on CZcams
That smooth solo takes me somewhere
I'm a big ABB fan and Warren is Awesome, however I think the Acoustic versions of this Tune are so much better. Dickey and Warren Esp the duel lead at the end are Perfect!
My favorite video on CZcams, the acoustic version, the solo is amazing, both Warren and Dickey. They were in sync.
Gregg, You had slowed down a bit around this time but then you seemed to rally some closer to when you passed.
Every time I get a chance to watch a Melissa video or just play the song, I find that I love it even more.
Rest in eternal peace, Gregg. You and Duane are back together in heaven jamming away. Maybe I'll get to see and hear you when it's my time! 🤞
Man, I love the Allman Brothers Band
If you can make it through this song without a tear runnin' down your cheek, you ain't right in the head.
RIP Gregg. Thanks for writing a song that I have been able to call my own. :-) Melissa
I've been looking for this video for a while now. It's just so beautiful. Put's a tear in my eye
This brings back so many good memories from my childhood
wow...so very much and yes to Butch and as time recently taken Greg into the ethers, never again will we be provided the live music to be the backdrop of our lives...Thank you all so very much Allman Bro's...very grateful here.
Love this song. RIP Greg.
Sing on Mr Allman ! You are and forever be loved !!!!! 😌
Love this song. Thanks to Warren Haynes. In my opinion this band would have never continued without him.
He wrecked the band and stole cobtrol from Betts.
@@unknownkingdom He was kicked out because of his drug and alcohol use that got outta control. Look it up.
Really appreciate your shout out to Warren and your opinion is the truth. A whole other generation got to hear this godly music live with Gregg, the heart & soul of the band who can never be replaced. Why so many comment how they cry every time playing this rendition like I am now.
Love this song
I'm going to be the first to comment that's it's badass that Warren is wearing an AC/DC t-shirt.
thinking the same thing man cool
Warren Haynes has it here
The guitar player looks like the redheaded son from American Chopper. He looks so cool. Thank you for the great music.
rip dear Gregg
Seriously.... Warren Haynes is completely amazing.... I think Duane would approve.
The drummer is about as mellow as mellow can be.
A song Gregg sold the rights to for peanuts originally in early days, still good as gold
Great musicians still doing well, man a lot of them have come and gone in this band and others.
Roll on gypsy. RIP Brother Gregg. From here in Macon
RIP Butch Trucks
Warren Haynes...nuff said
WARREN ROCKS SO COOL
NICE and it's my daughter in law's birthday today. Her name is Melissa.
Bobbi Ysmael so what
Aren't you just the biggest asshole making CZcams comments today?
Wow. Thanks so Much. do you have the entire concert? Would love to see it. Thank You for posting these.
MIGHTY TASTEY, FLY ON BROTHER.
Epic jamm
All 3 of Zep's line up are at the top of the food chain of rock and roll, but Duane would have held his own with Jimmy
Russell Gardner news flash they were never at top, plus Jimmy was not that good sorry to burst your fantasy bubble idiot
Where’s Derek Trucks? Didn’t he become a member in like 1999?
Where is Dickey Betts
Awesome song, and not even comparable to Led Zep drummer or Jimmy Page or Robert Plant
Tracy Brooks yeah all.and were much more talented than zep
Patti now
Oops, one more 'g'.
still cant believe the death of trucks so shocking rip :(
