    I recommend who ever is going to try this steps, to make sure you have the audio file ready to put it in a USB jump drive. (for this process I used GarageBand) it'll make you go through this tutorial almost in realtime and by the end of this video, you'll have the same results.

    Hi, Narf
    Thank you for your video about sampling and creating a patch from your samples. May I ask for your help and advice, please? I wish to sample a keyboard instrument, my 5 octave spinet that stands in the opposite corner to my Korg Oasys. I believe I have the gist of what to do to use the mic line ins to create samples of individual notes or a range of them; but, in order to create a multisample comparable to the harpsichord sounds in the Oasys, do I need to record in stereo or mono? And, what is a more tricky proposition, how do I ensure that when a key is released the sound is ended with the dull, quiet thud of the damper hitting the string - however long or short the note may have been?
    Any help or advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.
    BTW: I don't suppose you sell patches for the Oasys as well as the Kronos, do you? If so, I would be happy to receive details of them.
    Kind Regards
    Les

    • @narfsounds
      @narfsounds  Před 3 měsíci

      Only go stereo if you're mic'ing it up with 2 separate mics possitioned and panned left and right from the instrument. Normally you'd want to sample that thud separately and just sample the full length of the notes at various velocities and assemble them as separate velocity layers in the program. There isn't a key-off trigger on the Oasys's HD-1 engine so, it would be a bit challenging to incorporate that sound.

    • @lesbarraclough9820
      @lesbarraclough9820 Před 3 měsíci

      Many thanks for your reply, Narf.
      I will try recording in stereo with a crossed pair. There is very little velocity sensitivity in the actions of plucked keyboards so I imagine there wouldn't be much to be gained by creating many layers. Disappointing that there is no key-off action on the Oasys but most if not all of the harpsichord sounds in it have the damper noise so they must have achieved it somehow.
      Many thanks again for your advice. Looking forward to your next videos.
      Les

    • @narfsounds

      If it’s too long, best to convert your Combi to a song. In sequencer Copy From Combi. Then insert the WAV file into sequencer. Press play and you can play along the sample. czcams.com/video/nOMFjOiZ5IE/video.html

    Korg did a video on sampling and the presenter recorded a guitar and pitched the samples up by an octave. He conveniently left that part out in his video.

    • @narfsounds

      Once you import a sample and assign a range of notes, the sample will be pitched across the keyboard automatically as its default.

    In multisamples Wave Sequence list, if I have multiples of them, can I adjust the pitch/transpose each of them individually? The idea is, in a program in OSC1 or both OSC1 & 2, to add multisamples, let's say from the factory list without external samples added, to be able to harmonize them. This would be instead of let's say, adding multiple timbres in a combi and adjusting the pitch or transposing them that way. It would take up too much combi to do that.

      UserBank.KSC allows you to stream samples direct from the HD rather than having to load the samples to RAM in Sampling Mode if you use .KSC. You use up less RAM when you do this and can load more samples than the 3GB limit as it uses up virtual memory.
