@2:46 WD-40 isn't actually a true lubricant. WD stands for "water displacing" and its main use is as a solvent or rust dissolver.

WD-40 is a solvent AND a lubricant. As the solvent initially cleans and evaporates, as solvents do, a light coat of lubricant, which does not readily evaporate, is left behind. A review of the Safety Data Sheet for the product indicates this. First and foremost, this video is produced by Cessna and clearly defines in the description that the procedures are from their Aircraft Maintenance Manual for the 400TE. Always do what the manual says.

How often do cables snap? Is there any recovery after a snapped cable?

John Armstrong Not often. If the elevator cable snaps. Say you have no up. Trim up and load the stick with down force. Or vise a versa. Power change will also change pitch. Ailerons break use the rudder. Rudder breaks use the ailerons. Landing might not be pretty but you won't die!

There could still be deadly situations, a elevator up cable snapping shortly after rotation.

WD-40 is NOT a lubricant. It is a solvent which removes lubricants.
