People will tell you that Ren used a sample for the opening lyrics but I just listened to the original ("Dream" by Autograf) and the words are the same but in this recording only Ren and Bibi's voices were used. I have heard Ren change his voice multiple times on a single song. No one can persuade me that it was not Ren's voice. Great reaction just as I expected. No tears either.
I tend to agree after listening to this on repeat, cos there's too much of Ren's low register voice timbre in the hook, however... I also think he actually "merged" the original voice sample and his vocals cos there's also a tad "non Ren" audible, at least to my ears. It's easy to create a hybrid sample out of different sources in the application he's using for his recordings (Logic Pro). The original voice sample pack that originally came with this software also consists of several variations like most "vocal packs" and he might not be using the exact same version as Autograf.

It's a *stock audio file* that (according to a couple commentors on other reactions) was part of "Logic Pro" which Ren uses to produce his music. One even mentioned the file set name (it had a guy's name in it). So he didn't had to sample it from Autograf's song indeed as he already had access to the original _clean_ files to mess with and make them sound as he wishes. If Autograf decided not to use this last line you quoted from these same sample source(s) that has been their choice or course. Having heard two *different sounding versions* of that hook plus Ren's rendition, I didn't question the "Logic Pro" origin story. I have similar vocal tracks that come for free with "Cubase" (male, female, moods, genre) which is what I use for music production.They are mainly provided with these applications to showcase their features and like the recorded guitar riffs or synth pads that come with them are otherwise pretty useless for the most part. We can only speculate and one needs to ask Ren to get to "the truth". Knowing what's possible with these type of applications, a merge of the demo sample + Ren vocals makes most sense to me. At the end I don't mind: He could have hired a guy to sing this part with him. The song sounds great and the vibe and mood are fantastic. He also didn't produce the whole music to "Lost All Faith" and picked an awesome stock audio track to build on top.

Over on Sam Tompkins channel, there is a January 2020 video of an impromptu session in a train station where Ren plays soulful/swing piano and Sam sings (as does Ren to a lesser extent) as they do a mashup. I think the Ocean bit is sampled. You can rely on Ren for a reference or 20 in every song can't you! 😂 I'm sure there must be an average song out there somewhere from him but I've yet to hear it!

@@DenTweedI believe it's a mix of the sample and Ren dubbing it. It has quite a bit of Ren's low register in it. Since he has access to the original sample set from Logic Pro he didn't need the Autograf source and likely added some filters and EQ but I think also his own voice. He not only is a wordsmith but also a sound forger 😊

The sample is Dhruva Aliman “ Bottom of the Sea” he used the vocal and removed the bass line and percussion
That's what I originally thought, but apparently the original sample is from Logic Pro and several songs have used that same sample.

I just listened to Dream by Autograf and, yes, the same words are used but it's not the same voice. Listen to them both back to back.
