It's actually an amazing example of how two actresses, that look very much alike, can have different parts in one movie without spoiling one another's character in the movie.
I must admit, that I learnt about Keira in SW only two or three years after the release of TPM.
Also Sofia Coppola, She was mentioned after Pirates of the Caribbean, but the White Makeup gave me little chance to recognize Keira's face over Natalie's!

In her earlier movies they don't always spell her name right. in Princess of Thieves, she's listed as Keira Knightly. That doesn't mean she was born like that and then changed it, it just means there are people who do movies that don't have the decency to check how to spell someones name in the credits.

The brilliance of the White Makeup... but wait.... what about the hoods they wear over their hair and nearly their eyes. What a mind trick! We all suspect "That's not the same FACE I saw before in White, but they're still around in the robes and hoods." This was CLEVER for the AUDIENCE, FOR THE AUDIENCE!

Probably because shes wearing that gigantic dress that barely lets you see her face with tons of makeup lol. I too didn't notice it was her until some years later it was released, when I listened more closely to her voice, it reminded me of "the chick from Pirates of the Caribbean".

ive taken alot and if you had clicked more on the cast list you would have seen her name, type in 'Sabé' to the search bar and change 'all' to charictor. and she is the second one down

for me it was the eyebrows...its easy for me to see from her eyebrows even under the makeup
0:57 It's natalie portman playing, Liam Neeson is 1m94 and Ewan Mac Gregor 1m77, they are both too tall compared to supposed Keira (1m70) and you can believe easily it's natalie (1m60) playing. Or Liam and Mac took incredible shoes^^.

Keira knightly is a great acress and very beautiful, but Natalie Portman is simply beathtaking and amazing

i was right. i did this same thing at home and i got all of the keira parts right. on the DVD her voice is lower so it's harder to find out if it's keira but i got it right by telling by her faceil expressions.

i was too busy watching natalie portman i didnt even clok that was keira.
Keira played the Queen to be a decoy, so that if the she got killed, the real one would be ok.
Keira was a much more convincing Queen. I would have been happier with her in that role than Natalie.
i think then it is this movie that made me confuse natalie portman and keira knightley for a certain short while...

dammit George mixed up his leading women! He cast Portman for Padme instead of Knightley! Imagine how much better that would have been!
Keira was capable of portraying a regal presence and Natalie was not. And that this collection did not include "You have gone too far this time, Viceroy" is sorely lacking.
1. Padme, took the name Amidala when she gained office of Theed - the capital city of Naboo. She was then elected as Queen of Naboo.
2. Keira Knightly was one of the handmaidens, who wern't there to serve the Queen drinks of tea. The handmaidens were specially trained in self-defence, in the situation that the queen's life was threatend, they would take the Queen's place as a decoy. The handmaiden's were chosen for their resemblence to the reigning monarch, and their courage and love for Naboo.

first of all, her birth name was, KEIRA. she was never Kiera. She was born Keira Knightley, and has never changed it. Even if she was born "Kiera" im pretty sure everyone would still pronounce it properly, if you're challenged by a name like that, have fun pronouncing Saoirse Ronan.
