It was blisteringly quick and great in the dry, less so in the wet. It will certainly get you noticed a lot more than in the ubiquitous Porsche.

      Ferrari engineering is usually superior and the difference frequently shows on track times, specific power output, power to weight ratio, chassis balance, aerodynamics, etc.
      In this case, the Roma is an entry level Ferrari, a GT car, more like a 911 Carrera while the 911 Turbo is one of the fastest cars we can get from the brand.
      Price tag they might be comparable, but Porsche never played in the same league as Ferrari, Aston Martin, Mclaren, Bentley, Lambo, etc.

    As a former Ferrari owner, I can easily tell you that any Porsche you buy will have a higher manufacturing quality. A brand-new Ferrari is one car, and the same brand-new Ferrari with 25000 miles on it is an entirely different car. That does not always apply to Porsche, at least in my multiple Ferrari and Porsche ownerships over the past thirty years. I have found that my Porsche was always of a higher mechanical and construction standard than my Ferraris. I have two Porsche, but I sold my last Ferrari several years ago and will never buy another one. My daily driver is a 2020 Panamera with 41,400+ miles on it as of today.

    Excellent presentation!
    If find it personally very hard to analyze the “beauty” of the 911 because I have loved them for so many decades. Its looks are “iconic.” And by that I mean I can’t analyze the curves, or shape objectively in any sense, it is just a “911,” and they have always been amazing to contemplate (especially the thrill of the mid-70’s turbo)…the looks are intertwined inexorably with the whole experience.
    The interior and the technology user interface on the Roma is garbage, just plain and simple…garbage.
    With regards to price you will never ever see a Roma at the price you quoted. Options are insanely expensive and just a modicum of options (ones most owners would consider essential and not flamboyant) will make it more expensive than the 911 Turbo S. I think it is curious you mention that perhaps it would have been more “fair” to compare the Roma to the 911 Turbo (rather than the S) when the price differential was essentially the same on either side of the Roma (+/- 10K pounds). Why? The comparison to the 911 Turbo S is perfectly appropriate, and in fact as mentioned the Porsche is still cheaper than the Ferrari.
    You ultimately chose the Ferrari for the same reason so many do…the emotional magic of the Ferrari brand is king, and has been for decades. Objectively their cars are not superior to many of their competitors, but none of their competitors have that magical prancing horse on the bonnet.

    • @zix_zix_zix
      @zix_zix_zix Před rokem

      "The interior and the technology user interface on the Roma is garbage"? I strongly disagree; the interior looks fantastic and is highly customizable in terms of color options (you can also spec it with dual color), stitching, materials, seats and other details. There's an online configurator you can use to explore the many available options. The infotainment interface could indeed have been better but, really, who cares?

    • @tobiasjtaule8867

      Objectively their cars Are superior in their class, from the 430 and 458 to the 296 and sf90. Also the Turbo s is essentialy a car that is aimed at comfort and speed while the Roma although a Gt car is more made for driving dynamics. But i agere with you on the beauty of 911’s.

      Well, we can agree to disagree then. Their digital interface has no place in a Ferrari IMO. The iPad-like tablet in the center console looks as though it were designed in an elementary school art class. As far as the rest of the leather, etc., it is the standard Ferrari stuff which means it is nice but not particularly special. I have been an owner of numerous Ferraris and currently have a 458 and an 812GTS. Have you ever spent any time in an Aston, Bentley or Rolls? Now those interiors are indeed special.

      When it comes to being “objective” the only true objective measure of a sports car is track time standardized by using same driver, same track, and same tires (preferably on same day testing). You can look up track times online easily, ie: Big Willow. Just recently there is a video containing lap times in France at Nevers Magny-Cours Club, same driver and tires listed (easily searchable on CZcams). You know which car consistently kicks Ferrari’s butt on track after track? The “lowly” Corvette Z06. Ferrari’s for many many years are not the top dogs performance wise at any track in the world. In addition, when it comes to reliable, usable, and exhilarating club racing events the cars that dominate are Porsche 911, Corvette, BMW, and of course the Mazda Miata.
      The reason for buying a Ferrari is the pure emotion the brand brings, and unfortunately increasingly the status symbol (especially in our social media driven world).

      @@enlilannunaki9064 I am not a fan of the infotainment screens either - particularly when they stick out like a tablet. I am afraid this is the trend of the days though and literally every manufacturer installs them on their cars nowadays. Obviously, these systems are going to be completely outdated in a few years, no matter how cleverly you have managed to incorporate it into your interior (like Bentley do with their rotating system). Moreover, I can appreciate the plushness and the rich materials in a Bentley or Rolls but I would not want something like that in a Ferrari (especially in mid engine models). It's just a different feeling and sensation. I believe that Ferrari have worked very hard to offer the driver EXACTLY the feeling and sensation needed for their cars - obviously this is not just a matter of materials and interior design but a combination of every single part, the noise, the stiffness, the dimensions etc. Congrats for owning those great cars btw :)
