//GEAR I USE
📸 Cameras:
---------------------------------------------------
I get a lot of questions about the cameras I use. Here are my main cameras:
• [GoPro Hero 11](amzn.to/3q8Fpzw)
This is the most durable camera. It withstands the elements and can go places other cameras can’t. There are so many accessories available for GoPro cameras which makes them endlessly customizable and versatile.
• [DJI Pocket 2](amzn.to/3rLGGwT)
This little handheld camera is very easy to pack and carry with you because of its size.
🔋 Other useful tech:

• [DJI OM 6](amzn.to/3Y5LnxL)

Charleston is peaceful and not over crowded
I’m surprised somewhere like this isn’t booming. Gorgeous natural setting.
I am right now considering moving all the way across country from Santa Monica CA, where I have a 150 family history. to Charleston WV. I also do have long ago family roots, also around 1870, they migrated from Belgium to West Virginia. My Dad spent a lot of time visiting Great Uncle and Grandparents. It's scary because I don't understand the not-so-great reputation. The only thing is the homes I like look a little lonely. I will have to visit, because the internet is misleading.
The population is aging
Probably lack of jobs.
Only the good parts shown here. I was ironically there this same time frame for my sons soccer tournament. Any city has its bad parts. So does this one. & the “good” parts had allot of closed businesses and empty units. Not much activity downtown if it wasn’t for the music festival. We went out to breakfast and there were signs about narcan onsite at restaurants. Population is dwindling for a reason.
its a shithole outside of the nice areas, jobs suck, a lot of homeless and panhandlers literally just a street or 2 over from some of the streets he's driving on. @@MissBabalu102
I am from Charleston, West Virginia born and raised there for a few years then I moved to Magnolia, Mississippi and McComb, Mississippi
I lived in Charleston at the Job Corps in the early 70s. Got engaged to a young man from St Albans. Been in love with WVA ever since than
I was a Job Corps student in the 90s and also fell in love with Charleston. I'm considering moving back when the chance comes
I've always enjoyed my many trips to Charleston.
37:05 that library is AMAZING! they have so much more than books, you can borrow tools, they have laser cutters, waterjets, 3d printers, sewing machines, game systems, recording booths!
Thank you for sharing! I'll have to check it out next time I'm in town.
it is worth a look, never seen a library like it @@DeceleratedTravel
Very clean very green organized peaceful I wish I could live in Charleston really beautiful
Thank you! It is a very nice city.
It sounds silly but I like the old-fashioned streetlights. Beautiful greenery but maybe snowy in the winter?
been here a year and no snow yet

Beautiful place 👍
John Denver's song perseuded to know more about West Virginia. Nice city with many green areas.
Haven’t seen Charleston in 50 years. Thanks for the video. Unfortunately I understand it is a dying city more people moving out than moving in. There are a lot of rundown areas thanks for showing the best including my alma mater Morris Harvey College.
If the rest of America keeps skyrocketing in home prices, people search for other home towns, I have long ago roots there, so it's up for consideration. I don't like run down homes though, too depressing, but they could be repaired? I think my Dad's cousin - David -went to your college about that time. He loved it.
I'm sure how every state is becoming so expensive people are gonna start moving into WV
Wow I am happy to see Kanawha Blvd long time since I've seen it ❤
Sweet town. Almost zero litter or graffiti. Safe. Wish I lived in Charleston.
NERO1ER!MTC.IK.DEK
sry we have graffiti. 🌹
there is some graffiti in deep west side but more Murals here than defacing
Very pretty place. Good job.
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze
It so beautiful, remind me of driving the country side of Haiti
Thank you!
Came here after listening to "country roads" by John Denver. How beautiful is West Virginia!
Very cool Video. I'm from Germany so its very interesting for me to see some pretty places and houses.
Thank you for the visit!
Charleston WV is a nice looking town
I grew up in Charleston and will never move back. They are correct when they say it is depressing. I went there a few times to visit but each time, I went through the last tunnel. The feeling was like a depressing cloud that settled the whole time I was there.
sounds like I'd fit right in lol
Looks pretty clean and I see they're repairing some of the roads. Not sure about where all the rainwater goes, but that's the only issue I see.
sewer grates
What is the weather like? What are the people like? Hard to say what people are like, but I don't want to feel lonely.
I live in orlando its too crowded and hot here. This place looks like paradise
i use to live near tampa and I moved to charleston, WAY CHEAPER HERE!!!
Pretty much obvious why its so cheap in West Virginia if this is the capital city of West Virginia i could imagine every other town how small they must be West Virginia is for people who want to retire and settle down its not for young people.
beautiful building s
I lived all over Chas for 22 yrs nvr have I heard of Kanawha Avenue. I didn't even realize there was civilization behind UC. Looks like alot of money back there.
I kinda wish there was some narration with this video. It would be nice for the highlights to be pointed out.
I grew up in Charleston, now live in Missouri for 50 years. The state's economy for more than 100 years depended largely on coal. Now they're under a lot of economic pressure since coal is falling down (spare me the political comments here). When I moved away in 1972, they were on a serious downward arc which seems to be stabilizing with about 30% reduction in population over the last 50 years. Many people have struggled to get by with coal falling off. In the 1960's a kid straight out of high school with zero skills could work in the coal mines at $100/day, which was considered very good money at the time. That kid now is 70 years old and is living on the edge (or past the edge) of poverty.
In videos such as this one, I recognize the street names and some of the older buildings, but there are large stretches of Charleston that are not familiar to me at all now. There clearly is a sort of Renaissance going on. I haven't been back since 1994. The people I knew and went through school with have all moved away, - every one of them. West Virginia is a beautiful state, and I would have stayed there if there had been work opportunities that aligned with my interests.
Thank you for sharing!
watching this video from the Philippines.

Modicum of charm, longest lights in the world.

Is West Virginia Charleston, a good place to live? Thanks
it is not too bad, house rent is cheap, prices are lower to buy, car insurance is low
What was used to record this footage?
I put the camera information in the description. Thank you for watching my video!
How long did you need to live here to figure out how to dodge traffic for nearly an hour?
traffic here is not bad, at 5 the bridges can get backed up a bit
Can we get Charles town WV drive 😄
I live in elkview
I want to know if the city of Charleston is safe from crime, murder and violence ?
it depends, property crimes are the most common crimes in Charleston
we have some but theft is worse than murder
Where are the people?
I live in California and we have to many people in our state destroying it, thanks to liberals! Funny how we have 45 million people here, and they called our state for Biden in ten minutes!
NOT MUCH TO IT
This is Bishop Jake's hometown
almost heaven. just because it not a melting pot
you’re part of that, saar, white man wont love you back just because you suck his deeck
Is there a big difference between Virginia and West Virginia?
actually there isn’t
BIG DIFFERENCE. VIRGINIA'S SOUTH WEST IS BEAUTIFUL. SHENANDOAH VALLEY alot of small towns along 81.So much history.Charlottesville area is beautiful . Wineries all over .Northern Virginia is expensive. ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY is something every one should see.Jamestown,Yorktown, Williamsburg are full of our history. Then the beaches ⛱️. No comparison. West Virginia got the shitty end of the stick.
@bolton1347 WV has Seneca Rocks, Otter Creek Wilderness, Dolly Sods, Cranberry Glades, Lewisburg, Fayetteville, Summersville Lake, Cacapon, Berkeley Springs, New River Gorge, Appalachian Trail, C&O Canal Trail, Harpers Ferry, Shepherdstown, several historic scenic railroads, waterfalls galore, Cheat Canyon, Mon National Forest, whitewater rafting, caving, several wineries, the Hatfields and McCoys and the ATV trails, Lewis and Clark Trail, The Greenbrier, Webster Springs, awesome state parks, and plenty of history, world class hunting, fishing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, climbing, camping, lake boating, river boating. You need to pull what shitty stick out of your stuck up arse and stop being so ignorant, bias and judgmental. You're a sad little man.
