- Hoseah Partsch was born in Auckland, New Zealand as one of four children. His family had it rough, he shared one bedroom with his siblings. Amazingly, Hoseah taught himself to play the piano in a few months without any lessons. Now he's ready to shine on The Voice Stage and hopefully build a better life for himself and his family.

A lot of polynesians can't read music or know scales, Music theory etc we literally listen and play/sing until we get it. So many garages and party voices in New Zealand and Australia are filled with this talent and never go for it but this boy is something special.
I'm American and I play by ear and creativity. That makes me an outcast.
Honestly I think people forget how written music and music theory came about. Music is best when it comes from the heart. There's nothing wrong with music theory and learning music the "proper" way, it can make your music more refined and help stretch your voice and is incredibly useful for bands and orchestras.
But it's not the only way to make music. What a waste it would be if people like us were shut out because we didn't/couldn't go to music school. Music is unique in that. In fact, all of the arts are like that, but music is the hardest to ignore.
Yeah you make good points,i always get excited when i see a poly represent in these talent shows. & yeah the hidden talent of Polynesian Singer's is just Wow from my experience..your right,so many never have a goes-are poly's in general embarrassed/shy? Such a shame,but credit to those who do.👏🙏
Idk about y'all, but God blessed my hands and ears with these gifts and I think that it is to help spread Gods love and praise him. This young boy is a sign of blessing, so respect to our uso! And the reason why we never go for it is cause we aren't ready. He was ready to sacrifice himself for his family. When the time is ready that's when we go all out AYE!!! 💖 🙏🏽

The fact that he didn't care about food or money, just his family's happiness... and he did this to get money for his family to live in a bigger home. We need more people like him in the world.

honest! i cant believe how much his story made me cry too! the hardships hes been through and then to ask God to bless each and every one of the judges souls was pure Grace!!
I just want to cry. He so derserves a career in music and has the best reason. He is truly humble.
He decided to not look up "how to" videos and took it upon himself to just learn it through continuous playing. Def can appreciate and respect that

I loved living in New Zealand for a year, lived and worked in Wellington. The culture is fantastic and I wish i had stayed but I came back for my family in the UK. Everyone is so friendly, I love 'afternoon teas' and the accent is fantastic!
There's something so warm about his voice. Regardless of what he sings, his voice makes you feel like family.
When God gives you a gift, nobody can take it away. Doesn’t matter if you’ve used it or not, or if you put that dream on the shelf, whether you believe in yourself or not, if you gave up a long time ago. It will always be your gift!! Let that be encouragement to anyone who thinks it’s too late :)

I love how honest Hoseah is in the interview at the start mannnnn so humble !! When Sonia asked what type of house - he responds with just a house big enough to fit his fams ... it’s great he shows his vulnerability... honestly my favourite audition of all time !! I always come back and listen to this and it never gets old. Proud of our poly people
I hope they teach him to write his own song, that would make his career go long way.. cause his self taught is just amazing, not just the piano, his voice , his on stage performance and confidence is 9/10 to me.. no complaints

I also can't read notes and self taught. It's always surprising when I tell someone I can't read notes and that I'm self taught then they look at me like I'm insane
Us Melanesians too. Us in the Pacific learn music very differently. I'm completely self taught, there's no such thing as music lessons in the Solomons so we learn by looking and listening
Us Micronesians as well. I can sing all by ear not a note to be read lol
He was really incredible, and such a very sweet young man. I really hope he is very successful. Not just because of his talent, but because of the quality of his spirit.
I had to do this edit because I wanted to comment on the comments. This kids singing brought tears to my eyes, but so did the comments. I’m from the US. There has been so much vitriol here since Evil Agent Orange took office. It is really great to see how much kindness someone with both a beautiful voice and spirit brought out in people. So to those of you posting these kind and supportive comments, thank you for helping to restore a little of my faith in humanity.

Exactly..he could definitely do like a song for a Disney or some type of animation soundtrack..he has that type of voice for those magical type of songs(basically alot of those Disney classic songs from the 90's)..
Boy George did right by him as his coach, it was perhaps an unlikely matchup but it was a brilliant one all the same.
He was such an amazing guy and leader. he use to go to my school! known him for a few years. such a great guy never knew he could sing!! incredible x

Seeing the pure joy in his grandparents eyes watching him and seeing the judges turn for him, you can see they are all so proud of him. That pure Poly love! Loved everything about this! Personally with Kelly's heartfelt words I would've chosen her. You could just hear it in her voice. Then the way she approached him afterward, you knew she she meant everything she said.

My brother picked up guitar in a few months back in the day before youtube existed. It's possible especially if you're musically inclined.
@@avilik13 definitely, very true my brother was the same, picked up guitar, harmonica, drums, piano, and bass guitar. He stunned his music teachers at school and played by ear. This was back in the early 90s!
