      I think that's purely due to how updated the mechanics are in World, the moving while using items and more responsive gameplay definitely make a big difference in perceived difficulty. I can't count the amount of times I've died simply to the hero flex taking far longer than I expected, or just janky controls. I die much less simply from those two improvements, the mantles do help, as does the clutch claw, but I definitely don't think the core of the game is mechanically more difficult.
      If anything I've had way more problems with the same monsters in World/IB than MHGU Rajang, Barioth, Nargacuga, and the majority of shared monsters I honestly found more difficult in World, I played them through at the same time. The only monster I found infinitely more difficult in MHGU was Diablos for some reason, the smaller maps combined with less responsive input made him an absolute pain in the ass.
      I think G-rank hypers and AT monsters are about the same difficulty in my experience. I found the Deviants/BDs about the same as end game bosses/BDs in World.

      The HP pools aren't bloated as well, like in gu and the AI is much less retarded in general along with movement improvements. GU isn't harder, it's more bs. it's artificially harder due to outdated mechanics and questionable design decisions

    Adept seems like the most sensible option for endgame, considering there are a bunch of one shot moves the super deviant monsters have.
    Striker looks like the "best value" pack but Adept giving me free i-frames for just rolling around the monster (which I'm very used to doing) it's a keeper.

    Gotta be honest and say I agree more with Arekzz on Aerial SnS. The bread and butter combo is still just as good as any other style. Add the mounting potental, stamina oil, and a paralysis weapon and thats a lot of time of the monster doing nothing. Stamina oil makes shiygeki absolete and roundforce is not all that great which just leaves the best of the three. Apply oil, mount the monster and when its down go staright for the face and suddenly hammer finds itself without its crown.

    Omg Chaos Oil [NUT]! I went back to Generations recently to get ready for GU and man I missed oils.. I don't really enjoy how SnS feels in World and it was just unfortunate.. but the way it plays, the oils, the specials feels so good in Gen/GU even though I haven't played GU yet.

    • @BoJangles42
      @BoJangles42 Před 6 lety +3

      Silver Lyons what?? No oils in World but the move set in World is FAR better for SnS. In World the charge attack goes right into either a mounting attack or a diving shield bash that can KO a monster. This is the highest DPS combo for SnS and it doesn’t exist in MHGU. And the mounting attack makes the SnS even better for mounts than IG in World.

    • @silverlyons5049
      @silverlyons5049 Před 6 lety +7

      I know what the meta is for SnS in World, and I don't enjoy doing the back hop into the aerial shield smash over and over again. I like doing combos and weaving in and out quickly.. Trying that in World is kinda obsolete and the turn slash and stab moves are kinda cool but overall if you're not willing to bounce all over the monster you're not getting the most you can get in that game so everything feels different.
      I'll probably end up still playing both but, I stand by my preference of old school SnS over World SnS.. Just because of pure preference. There are some things I prefer in World though, or had an affinity to, like Foresight Slash and stuff but yeah. I'm not saying any is better than the other, and not bashing anyone for liking World's version more: It's interesting to watch other people doing the SnS shenanigans in World.

    • @garbodude4365
      @garbodude4365 Před 6 lety +2

      Silver Lyons I’ve gotta agree with you friend, classic SnS just feels right. Better than world? Debatable, that’s just up to one’s taste really. I’m still playing like it’s 3u half the time anyway lol

    • @BoJangles42
      @BoJangles42 Před 6 lety +2

      Silver Lyons Sorry but just because the downward bash is the meta for speedruns doesn’t mean you HAVE to spam it to enjoy using the SnS in World.
      The spiral slash in World makes sword combos even better. Also the double shield bash in the older games is now a triple shield bash in World which is much better since you’re only shield bashing if you’re trying to build up exhaust and stun on the monster.
      The new mounting and jump attacks make the SnS the best weapon in the game for mounting, bar none. And I say this with 900 quests using IG in World.
      The slinger makes the “use items without sheathing” even more valuable. This also includes wedge beetles and mantles. And you can now put down a shock trap and pitfall trap one after another without destroying the first one.
      You can now much more easily add Guard and Guard Up skills to a build and tank big attacks like Nerg’s dive bomb with your shield like a Lance if you want.
      You can have your preference, that’s fine. I main SnS in GenU and the oils are awesome, I wish we had those in World. But that’s honestly my only complaint about SnS in MHW.

    Hi, This is my first Monster Hunter game. Is this weapon the best for noob players?
    I say that because you dont need to put your sword away to use potions and other items. Also how effective is the shield? Can it block all attacks?

      @sunny_shinyyy Před 6 lety +13

      Kind of, it’s a “jack of all trades” weapon, so it’s recommended you start with it and then pick a weapon from there, however it’s still viable for late game.

      @ToastedLater Před 6 lety +5

      Paranormal Pete I guess it could be considered easiest in terms of complexity and moveset, but honestly choose whatever you think you’d like and experiment with all the different weapons. But yes the sword and shield is usually considered a noob weapon but is a very good weapon nonetheless

      @ShineTheHedgehog Před 6 lety +6

      The shield is much weaker than the other shields in the game, and is I believe on par with Greatsword. You'll still block most of the damage, it's just that you'll also lose a lot of stamina; and if you don't have enough stamina to "cover the cost" you'll get hit anyway. (I THINK that's how it worked.)

      I love the SnS and used that plus the HBG throughout Gen on the 3DS. SnS is beginner friendly but it also is fantastic late game with status SnS builds. If you have not already done it get the demo on the Switch eShop and start playing around so you can get a feel for the different weapons in a controlled environment.

      Toasted Tater The ability to use an item anytime is such a lifesaver in G-rank quests, you can save a whole team with lifepowder. However most people don't use this feature and just spam the x button in attacks, which is sad. The sns is quite difficult to master because you have to stay still while doing the most damaging combo (RX -X-X-AAA) and positioning is something that takes time to understand.

    I can't do the backwards evade. Is the control different on the switch? I don't even see it in the manual. Striker Style. Hold on a sec, I think I see it now, it's a Guild Style move. Oh my god you actually mention you lose the back evade in the video I'm a dork.

    They keep making SnS really great with buffs and such but I still can't bring myself to play it for some dumb reason. Capcom could come back and say "Guys, we've doubled all SnS motion value" essentially making it a great sword with near DB speed and Id still respond with "Neat! Still going to play CB and Funlance"

    Honestly the oils give power to a weapon normaly overlooked and stigmatized as the ''beginner'' weapon.
    It's sad the oils didn't return in World nor are they returning to Rise.
    Atleast the new moves from World/Iceborne and some of the hunter arts are comming back in Rise so I guess that kinda makes up for it.

    Gaijin Hunter, first you say the "bread and butter combo" is (R+X), X (THREE times), A (3 times). A little later in the video during the aerial style, you say "... The bread and butter combo of X, X, A, A, A." So which is the best/main/B&B Combo? The difference may make a difference, but I'm not sure which because of motion values (which I don't understand very well either). Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Is it weird that I actually enjoy Aerial SnS over Aerial Switch Axe?
    I know Aerial SA only loses the axe thrust and everything else stays intact, and it does the aerial vaults better but I find Aerial SnS more satisfying, somehow.
