Thank you for this project - I am enamored with this family. How have their lives fared. I know what happened to the parents. But what about the kids?
Heather was the one probably voted least likely to succeed back in 1974. Now look at her! Proud of you Heather!!

I was only 5 years old in 1974, so didn't see the program until recently. I love that Heather followed her dream and did the exact thing she told the school career officer she would.

This is wonderful. I was too young to watch The Family originally but i found it recently and loved how close and honest your family were. You’re mum was my absolute favourite. And you Heather seem very grounded and happy. You’re family are lovely. All the best, Linda in Kent.

Loved the family documentary in 1974,it was the first of its kind. Heather was always very honest and real, she looks as if she has remained like that. She should be so proud of herself and her lovely family. Her mum would certainly have been very proud of her.

@@heatherbellewilkins229 It's very interesting for me as I watched the original series as a 17 year old, in my last year of school completing my A levels. I emigrated to Canada the following year, and never heard again about your family. So It's lovely to see how well you have done in your life. Best wishes.

wow! just wanted to know how your relationship is with your little brother, it really bothered me when you were pushing him around, i wish i had been able to speak up as a young person when growing up as i was very oppressed but you have inspired me to try again and persevere with a business project and let know one in to deter me, thank you and congratulations :)

    Sometimes when I can't sleep...I play "The Family 1974"
Everything about it is so soooooothing.
    Your mom Margret's voice.
    Everyone's voice.
    The music.
Just everything, everything back then was so real and so simple,
as in, it didn't take much to make people happy.
    I love you guys.
    I was 8 in 1974...so Chris's age. The youngest.
Even though I was an only child my life looked a lot like the life of your family.
Tub in the kitchen, the TV, the school, everything.
I miss the 70's SO much.
    Love from NYC.

  • @davidsanderson5918

Great upload but, just as The Family (1974) has elements which make it of its time (the music, the film stock, the editing), the element which will be marked to a future viewer will be the use of STABILISER. Such a shame. It's fine for filming on a rocky boat trip but here there's just no need and I find it spoils the viewing experience (unlike The Family in 1974 whose old-fashioned elements endear it to the viewer).

@@heatherbellewilkins229 glad to hear that and very pleased to see how well you are doing/you had soo much foritude--even at a young age! i too gated school but here in the States the earliest you can leave school is 16 and then it's without qualifications so you are stuck unless you go for a GED/i could totally relate to your 15-year-old self but you are a testament to what a strong personality and a fine work ethic can lead to..your folks would be so proud!
