      i think instead of one device that does both, i'd prefer 2 separate robots: one dedicated vacuum cleaner and one dedicated mop. those all-in-one things are like hybrid cars: jack of all trades, master of none.

      @designbuild7128 Před rokem

      @@mrxmry3264 I've thought the same, especially when they first came out (and ours mops, but we don't use the feature). Granted there are the tradeoffs in space saving and at least initially the cost would be more for separate units. However, once the heavy lifting of the automation side is basically nailed, the mechanical side becomes the true risk and cost. And over time, maybe they could design a dual-dock station with two units of smaller size to use (or just smaller dock for single purpose).

      I prefer the dual functionality, as it will probably do more than I do on a daily basis. Plus, I have reviewed the individual mop robots and they are not that much better than this combo robot.

    Don’t get fooled. I compared t20 vs revo vs s8 pro . Don’t get fooled by the obstacle avoidance marketing by these companies. All of them failed to recognize cords and cables. All the vacuums ate the cords. You won’t be able see any major difference in vacuuming between the units on day to day use. Revo and t20 has the best mopping experience. None of the vacuums failed to clean up dried stains. They all do a decent job in mopping up gooey sauce of the floor. You will have to do 2 cycles to get most of the residue off. I went with revo. You can’t beat the price and it pretty much does what the t20 does but it has better software and overall it performs better

    I would love to see a “Matter” configuration for robot vacuum/mops. A built in station below the kitchen sink that will provide water and cycle dirty water so you never have to. Then all manufacturers just design a base that fits into that space for their vacuum. Make all vacuums fit under standard toe kicks and just standardize a few things. Like a wall outlet, you plug any robot vacuum in you want and it’s like they’re not even there. Just come and go from under the kitchen sink, hooked into the plumbing and electrical. Pure zero thought. That’s the future I’m hoping for.

    I am really surprised at how well it did in the mopping tests against the S8. Also, it does have one roller in comparison to the S8 but in many comparisons between the S8 and the S7 Maxv ultra, the one roller S7 Maxv Ultra did better on dry floors and sometimes even rugs than the S8 so until they refine the S8 to use the two rollers the way it's meant to, the two rollers may not be that big of a factor today. Finally, considering the price difference between the Q Revo and the S8, if you consider the discount coupon that you can purchase to reduce the price by $240, it's a no-brainer I will get the q Revo. Having to pull the dock plate to clean every once in awhile is not that big of a deal when you think of the price saving. That's just my take from your video.

    I wish someone would release a robot that supports communication locally, with no cloud required, that way we wouldn't have to worry about a camera built in and could have the best of both worlds. • @levib98204

      @@levib98204 Can do sort of, I have a dreame d9 with valetudo atm. The main problems here is that there's very limited selection on robots that can run valetudo and those robots are hard to obtain in the UK. The manufacturer is also actively trying to block valetudo, and I feel bad giving my money to a company like that.

    • @niklFIT
      @niklFIT Před 11 měsíci +2

      Roborock says they only use the data to improve their obstacle recognition and navigation algorithms, and if they allowed users to turn off providing these data, we would not have robots that can almost perfectly navigate through any random home with any set of random obstacles today. Of course if Roborock was receiving high res pictures of my home and people living there, it wouldnt be a good thing, but Roborock claims they only receive a small part of highly processed data with almost no personal information, and I tend to believe them because people have already tested how much data these robots upload and it is very little, not enough to upload high res videos or pictures.
      But I think the Q Revo will become extremely popular and either valetudo or other cloud server emulators will sooner or later be able to fool the Q Revo.

    • @Azelphur
      @Azelphur Před 11 měsíci +6

      @@niklFIT Privacy is one of the many reasons I won't buy cloud, a few others would be things like:
      - Manufacturers won't support devices forever. Some companies drop support in as little as 3 years. I don't trust companies to continue supporting devices. Even if the company has the best of intentions, companies go bust or face difficulties all the time.
      - Single point of failure, if company cloud goes down your device is unusable and you can't repair it. It also makes for a single point of attack for malicious actors.
      - Manufacturers can, and regularly do deliver firmware updates without your consent that remove or alter functionality
      - Internet down? now I can't control my device.
      If the vacuum had the ability to function without the company existing (ie robot has no internet access). I would be fine with it. I personally wouldn't even mind providing them with data (however many people would not). But yea, as it is, I personally wouldn't drop money on devices that require cloud to function.

      @Adrian-jn9ov Před 11 měsíci

Using the app in your home could control it locally and also offer other systems (like Homeassistent) to control it too 1:32. Having less people use your server would save the company's money, so why not just do it?

    Can someone please explain how a New model does not benefit from upgrades like the double brush of the S8 other than releasing a New model a few months later ?

    • @DJ-HGLegacy
      @DJ-HGLegacy Před rokem

      The S7 Maxv did better or equal to the S8 on floors and carpet depending on which videos you've watched so until roborock makes the necessary adjustments to the dual rollers on the S8, it doesn't matter if it's a single roller or double roller. Either way they both do great on either flooring.

      Because segmenting. In this case, maybe even for the better as the double rolling brush appears to have more drawbacks than benefits

      Over a year ago roborock came out with the S7 Maxv Ultra as their flagship vacuum and mop combo robot. This year they came out with the new S8 Ultra which is their new flagship and most expensive robot vacuum and mop combo. Now they have these two new models. The Q Revo is their new mid range combo robot with dual spinning mop heads. They have never had one with spinning mop heads so it's a test for Roborock to see how well they will work since a lot of the competitor's are using them. The other new model is the S7 Max Ultra, not to be confused with the S7 Maxv Ultra. The new model does not come with a camera for object avoidance. Some people like this because there's no security issues with the camera taking video inside of your home but more than likely it will not be as good as a previous model with object avoidance because it doesn't have a camera in it. These four models are the top models right now for Roborock which is why he is discussing all of these during the video. Now that you know the models you can research using this video and other videos to figure out what's best for you. I hope this helps.

    My S5 had dirt get into the fan and exhaust, severely limiting the suction. Nightmare to break down to get to the clogs. Do any of the newer Roborocks allow an easier disassembly to service dirt buildup in the fan and exhaust???? Real design flaw on the S5, which still works pretty well for me.

    I really like your videos, however I'm super concerned that all of these devices contact their home servers and we don't know what kind of data they are being sent. A lot if not all of the useful features you care about in the app are not available without an account and an active internet connection, limiting you to the simple spot clean features and manual activation. For me as well as many others, this is a deal breaker.
    Like I mentioned before, I really like your videos and a lot of the things in my smart home are inspired from you. I think it would add a lot of value to your videos and channel if you also used and found devices that can be run locally/self-hosted, and made a point of mentioning that some of the devices you are showing will not work without an active internet connection and an account hosted somewhere in their cloud. My smart home is comprised of devices that run 100% locally, and I block internet access to the devices that do try to use cloud services despite not being needed.
    I guess what I want is, please show more devices that don't require an active internet connection or yet another account to work, and please mention these concerns when you're showing a device that doesn't work any other way. Keep up the great work!

      @@gsxrfire8310 That's a fallacy, and incorrect. There are a lot of things you can do to mitigate what gets collected, or even outright get rid of it if you're willing to tinker. In my home Network I use a PiHole to block trackers, telemetry, and ads in my entire Network.
      Regardless, even if you're not technical like me, just because in your smartphone there could be entities that are collecting data, doesn't mean that you should want yet ANOTHER entity with that kind of data. ESPECIALLY when that kind of data could include pictures/videos of you and your home.

    I wouldn’t recommend any Roborock product. I bought the roborock ultra s7 max v based on your other video and it rode against all of my walls randomly even after mapping my house out causing black marks. Then it randomly would die… all within 6 months. Tech support is from China and they wouldn’t do anything about the black marks on my trim even after sending pictures, they repaired it from it randomly dying. Now it makes odd different sounds when emptying the dust/vacuum bin to the dock. So yeah, I’m never buying Roborock product again.
