Tell that to Meryl Streep - she's not in Titanic blockbusters, but she has a loyal audience that will turn out pretty lucratively. In fact, there were articles debating why Meryl Streep alone can bring in an audience while younger actresses can't seem to guarantee box office or need to be in ensembles. There's also very few if any young male actors who can carry a picture, either. Even Tom Cruise can't bring 'em in like he used to.
Looks fun and emotional at the same time. Seems like a great movie to watch. And of course, the casting is just on point, Jim Broadbent, Helen Mirren, Fionn Whitehead, Matthew Goode...
Finally! Something worth watching. No need to keep scrolling endlessly, watching what looks like it might be good and being, thusly, disappointed. No need to waste time. This looks lovely.

Movie trivia: The painting of the Duke was stolen a few months before they began filming “Dr. No”, the first James Bond film. In the film, the stolen painting is prominently displayed in Dr. No’s residence when he first meets Bond.
When I saw the title and Helen Mirren, first thought was this film might be about the recently passed Duke of Edinburgh. While that might be a good film to make with Helen reprising her role as Queen Elizabeth, this looks like a fun one!
You could have Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren read the newspaper out loud and I would be there. Two of the finest making it look like a walk in the park, and it sounds like they have a good story.

This is true Treasure of film art! This film is very much on the level of excellence at it's best! This is a must see to be enchanted and a true feel good film with some great laughs!!
Mainly filmed in *Bradford* aka the *6th biggest city in the UK by population,* the *7th biggest city in the UK by area,* and the world's first *UNESCO City of Film.* Fans of *Peaky Blinders* (among other productions) should recognise most of those *Bradford* locations but they won't, because like I said we're largely ignored by the mainstream media. *The Duke* also contains *1 of the 3 Winston Churchill's* from *Peaky Blinders* in the cast at a *Bradford* location, who just like the *other 2 Winston Churchill's* has filmed here in *Bradford* more than once.
Good thing Mirren and Broadbent are still alive to make the promotional rounds and give interviews since the three years the movie has been sitting on the shelves. The director, however, was not so lucky. Roger Michell died Sepl. 2021 and never saw the wide release of his creation.
Will see asap. I am addicted to Helen Mirren. Has everyone here seen "Greenfingers"? A smaller part for Mirren, but still a gem of a performance, and a really good film.
The honest truth here. At first when I saw the trailer and then the title, I thought it was a movie about the Queen's recent deceased husband. Helen Mirren had played the lovely Queen beforehand. And thought that was quick and very dedicated of the movie industry. Then watched the video and thought it is lovely just the same. Might watch this film. Look like a delight. Love all the actors in this. Well from different roles they had played of course.
I saw this today and was hypnotized with joy. Don't miss this treasure. Brilliant!

I saw the film today and I absolutely loved it, there's some very touching scenes that had me in tears but overall it's an absolute joy to watch.
