You have no idea how much this helped me!!! I've been looking everywhere for a soft, non scratchy metallic yarn. Its for the cuffs and trim on a toddler hoodie, so couldn't be plasticy or scratchy AT ALL! Every one i found was crazy expensive, like $17 for 100 yards. Your video inspired me to cut fine strips from a length of gold lamé: quarter inch wide, knit up on #6 needles. It's working GREAT so far, knitting up really squishy on those small needles, with a really soft, silky hand! And on those tiny strips, Wendy's loop loop pull through method made the joins almost invisible.. Thanks so much!

You can also use the bias tube method to sew your fabric before you cut the strips - gives you yards of joined fabric "yarn" by sewing only one seam.

When I was a kid made pot holders with these bands. If you slip them together you can make a fabric and crochet a nice rug.

  • @magdalenaprettycripple549

Awesome tips Vickie. I used your last method with the black and white fabric to rip chiffon and turn it into yarn. I feel like such a big girl now. :)))))

Hi Vickie, I live in Carmichael CA. I am just starting to learn how to make yarn from T-shirts. I am going to use the yarn to crochet a border for turning a sweatshirt into a jacket.

Nice! Thank you. I like the Knit Collage yarn, but it's pretty pricey. This is a good alternative to that yarn.

Susan! You sound like me. I'm finishing up 8 "Teddy" puppies for my great nieces and nephews! I have one completely done, 36superman/supergirls chevrons to finish embroidering with their initials and have two more to go, and then it's time to construct the last 7 of them (I decided to go production line with the 7 after the first one was done). The puppies themselves are all knitted. Do you give the afghans to them as you get them done? I was thinking about doing that in the future. My brother's kids are having a lot of babies! :-)
