      @@katebunkoff4489 no that’s not a lot over 5 days. As someone frequently in hospital that’s pretty normal. It also depends if they’re litre bags or 500ml bags. I once got 3 litres over about 6 hours to help bring my heart rate down.

    • @TheUnlovedSoul1
      @TheUnlovedSoul1 Před rokem +5

      The average I would say is 2-3 bags of 500ml saline a day for people on IV fluids. In a non emergency a bag is usually ran over 6-8 hours but can vary depending on how much the patient is able to take in orally on their own.

    I'm not sure why you're so dismissive of some of these injuries. The finger infection/leg infection could have easily gone septic and become lethal. Also, the guys who were constipated were probably also dehydrated, and that would be quite painful. These injuries aren't for our entertainment, yes, they're dramatic, but if the medical team thinks something is serious, I would side with them. I wonder if people are just so commonly getting injured and they’re out there in the jungle where things fester that they really can’t keep on top of it. Unless you had a medical person assigned to only 1-2 players they’d be spending a lot of time each day just checking over injuries. It takes so little time in the jungle for something to go from minor to serious they’ve really need to be checking them all over twice a day. I have noticed a lot more bandages in more recent seasons though so it seems like maybe they are all being more closely monitored than they were in the past.

Also, that same team was questionable in responsibility, seeing the cases on both seasons before it with Dana and Colton. There's actually 1 "Medevac" that was missed in this video, but it's understandable that it was missed. After all, it's kind of a technicality, and more depends on how you look at it (and it's why Medevac is in quotes). In Survivor Cambodia, Terry Deitz was also medevac'd. But the difference here is that it wasn't because of an injury that Terry sustained, rather he was pulled from the game due to a family emergency (his son Danny being in the hospital and both the doctor and his wife believing it being serious enough for him to leave and be involved). A very sad exit for a great player for sure, but the good news is that Danny survived the heart transplant!

    Here's the thing about Erik's evacuation. It changed a LOT for the finale. Where as the day 37 challenge was initially for immunity, they had to change it to reward with a last minute thought of OP advantage for the winner. Cochran won that challenge and for the sake of argument, let's say that Erik is voted out anyway. The final 4 go into that final immunity challenge without the OP advantage that Cochran had and given that it was a 70% sprint/endurance challenge and 30% puzzle. Most likely Eddie wins that challenge given that he's the only physical player left and votes Cochran out. Cochran only won that challenge because of his advantage that the producers had to think up last minute because of Erik's med evac.

    I had typed up this whole story when my computer randomly restarted... here we go again.
    It was spring of 2016, and Survivor: Kaoh Rong was on. (Well, not on, but in season.) My parents, who were longtime Survivor fans, with my mom even going back to Australia, wanted to introduce my sister and I to it, and while I showed no interest, my sister did. Over the next week or so, she'd tell me some of the most memorable moments, and I slowly considered watching. Fast forward to when the rest of the family was watching episode 4. I came out to get a drink, and I saw the three collapsed players. Intrigued, I watched the rest of the scene to see how it would play out, and ended up finishing the episode. I had been watching every episode of Survivor ever since, with the exception of HHH's post-merge and the entirety of Ghost Island.
    Thanks, Caleb.

    23:20 Although you absolutely SHOULD NOT stop taking medication for mental health without consulting your doctor, it's worth noting that Lithium actually doesn't have very many withdrawal symptoms. I think the hydration/dizziness bit was just a justification to confront and boot him, and I think they were entirely justified. People who take lithium tend to be taking it for a reason, most commonly bipolar disorder, and quitting your mood stabilizer without supervision--not to mention on a deserted island under the stress of a survival competition TV show--is extremely, EXTREMELY dangerous. If you're reading this and you've missed a dose of your mood stabilizer without feeling sick, and you think maybe you don't need it or that it's not working: don't change anything without discussing it with your doctor. If you want to change your dose or stop taking that/any medication, you can make a plan for that together with your doctor, which I promise is infinitely easier than ending up in a mental hospital because you were unfortunate enough to be born with an imbalance of chemicals in your brain. Trust me.

      There have been two fatalities in international Survivor. One was the French season where a 25yo guy died of cardiac arrest during the first challenge on Day 1 and the season was cancelled immediately (and the guy in charge of health and safety on that season later committed suicide out of guilt). Then there was the Bulgarian version where an older guy died in the middle of a challenge *in the middle of a season* and the season kept on going. It's eerie; the season was up on CZcams as of last year, maybe it still is. The episode where he dies starts with a memorial for him (because it had been international news during filming so everybody knew), when the challenge begins it starts normal but soon the music gets depressing, the shots start getting shorter with cuts to black in between, then you see Medical around a guy on the ground and the rest of the cast members crying. Then it cuts into a long (post-production) memorial for the guy, followed by what I think was a sort of eulogy for him with the host and contestants at Tribal Council (no vote outs, of course). A few episodes later, a helicopter shows up to the site of a challenge and out comes the guy who'd hosted previous Survivor BG seasons, turns out he's here to take over after the new host quits in the middle of the season; my personal theory is that the host at the time quit as soon as the guy died and that was just how long it took production to contact the old host and fly him out to the filming location in the Philippines.

Not only was he willing to risk his symptoms returning, which could be absolutely catastrophic if he went into psychosis or mania, but he continued to lie about what the lithium is for!
