Splatoon 3 Is REALLY WEIRD In Other Languages

  • I'm more than used to playing Splatoon 3 in the English language, but I've never seen what other localizations of the game look like. So, only having a background in the English and Spanish languages, I wanted to take a look at a few of those other localizations for the first time. I chose what languages I looked at based on which countries watched me the most and what those countries' official languages were. From splatoon 3 weapons to splatoon 3 maps to splatoon 3 characters, some were understandable translations and others...racked my brain, to say the least. What language do you play Splatoon 3 in? Let me know in the comments and remember to subscribe to Alphastar716 for more content on #splatoon3 #splatoon #nintendo and other things gaming.

Fun fact : This is the canadian version of the French language. The Squiffer "Lignizateur alpha" becomes the "Décap-express Alpha", the "Pouche-pouche" premium becomes the "Aerogun Premium". "Excellent !" becomes "Joli!", and "Eclaboussé" is replaced by "Tu as liquidé ...!". And no 'ketskogel' does not mean 'marker' in dutch. Its means 'markeerstift'. The marker where you can mark words with in a color.

Incidentally, the conversations I've had with Dutch speakers about how that language works makes looking at it seem all the more frightening...

@@Alphastar716 I don't know if it is because I'm spanish, I can say that for me is the other way around, english is easier to learn. The thing with splatoon are the names, mostly weapon names, they're so random sometimes, for example the bow is named "acromatizador triple". I don't even know what "acromatizador" means exactly, I only know it has something to do with color and maybe that it's a little wordplay because of "bow" in spanish -> "arco".

the Hydra in spanish has an HD because it's a hydrant (which is why it's the Hydra[nt] in english), and Garabateador is derived from Garabato, which is Doodle, so the direct translation is the Doodler HD, which i'm so sad we didn't get xD
also, something that confuses me is the inconsistency of Derramatics (roughly Spill-o-Matics in english) being Sloshers in spanish while english has Splash-o-Matic and Sploosh-o-Matic (Plumón and Marcador Grueso in spanish, directly translated as thin and thick marker in english respectively). i wish one of the languages conformed with the other, but might have been the localization teams messing with us for fun
