    Hi, i was very bad in rest Play, missing very simple shots. After this video, now atleast i don't miss easy shots but also feel comfortable with rest Play.
    Thank you, really appreciate your hard work and contribution to Snooker.

    I have just started playing again after a 45 year break, and although I know what to do, to some extent, I am relearning to play. Practice is the only way to learn the angles and pace of shot, so by watching your brilliant tutorials I hope to do better, as it's mighty frustrating atm !!

    Lots of great advice here. Making sure I cue straight with a rest is something I've been working on, but I realise I've been holding the cue wrong, holding the very end rather than a couple of inches from the end and not sliding the rest into position. On this last point though, sliding the rest in only works if there are no other balls getting in the way. Very often I find that I need to place the rest very carefully to get the right position without fouling by disturbing other balls.

    This video is very helpful to me as my rest game really sucks. Placing the butt more into the fleshy part of the hand is very interesting as I usually have more of a finger grip.
    Please expand on the stance..as I wasnt clear on which foot if any is on the shotline...Thanks

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  Před 2 lety

      Doesn't matter with the foot placement as much with the rest. Just get a bit side on, and get comfortable 👍

    Can you please make an instructional video on how to play when you don't have enough room with your body to ensure optimal footing, but playing with the extension is also out of the question?
    So how to aim and thrust well despite the difficult posture.

    • @MrJdsenior
      @MrJdsenior Před 3 lety

      Yeah, I went back to the pool hall for the first time in a year and it felt positively unnatural and weird down in shooting position, exactly like it didn't before. And I couldn't pot ANYTHING. I'm going to be starting over on mechanics, apparently. Maybe this time I should learn them PROPERLY. :-)

    • @RobbieBeswick
      @RobbieBeswick Před 3 lety

      @@MrJdsenior I’m lucky enough to have a pool table in my garden, I made a significant improvement over lockdown playing but it hasn’t helped at all with snooker because the balls are heavier and the tables bigger..😂

    The cue grip where you say to lie in the fleshy part of the hand. I have never heard that before. I always thought there was space between the three fingers, the cue and that fleshy part.

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  Před 3 lety +1

      That will be a good tip for you then Dan. That's the way most players grip with the rest. Don't grip with the finger tips, and the cue can easily roll around. Thanks a lot for watching 🙂

      Great tips there Steve,,,been looking at some older vids of your,regarding screw back,,when you show that when giving,,extra power to the screw shot then we can do a lot more with a lot less power,,I noticed when demonstrating this your cue comes off your bridge hand ,can you explain why this happens,when we are told constantly,to keep the cue level with the bed?
