I started watching the "accuplacer test review" playlist 4 days before my test. Pretty much the only studying I had done because of being enrolled full time in spring semester. I found out today that I passed! Thank you so much!!
Been out of school since 2007. I feel like I need to re-take middle school level algebra because I'm so behind that even the explanation videos like this I'm just scratching my head. English and foreign language classes make so much more sense to me than even simple math. Not really sure why.

I had to comment and let you know how much I appreciate your videos. You are so helpful, the questions you went over are the ones I don't like seeing on a test or exam. I always use to freak out on the inside with questions that involved fractions. Now after watching your video I feel more confident on taking my exam. @@ZandriaGossett-jq4qq It was pretty easy. I’d say most of the questions were like the sample ones. If you don’t get all of the first 20 questions correct, then it automatically directs you to the diagnostic section which has 48 questions. The diagnostic section was very easy. But overall I did pass.

Like the graphs , area questions fractions all things like that . I’m okay that I got a 253 because I have to start somewhere & I’d rather start from the beginning since I struggled . @@ReneesNest91After doing the practice tests provided, I was able to score a 90% on the actual test! I highly recommend doing those first if they are provided, it let’s you know specifically what you need to refresh yourself on.
@DeborahBelville way to go! did you want to place high for a particular subject? I want to place high enough to skip remedial math but not too high to where they expect calculus or something from me
@@ReneesNest91I feel you! I hadn’t done math in 8 years and literally had forgotten everything to do with rules and formulas except for order of operations. I was just trying to get a good enough score to skip intermediate algebra before taking college algebra. I will have to take trig, calculus, and statistics after that but the tutoring center on campus will come in handy for that. Keep practicing! It will pay off I promise. You got this!

Hi Ms. Amber, I am prepping to take this test in 2 weeks. I feel so overhwhelmed and I am so happy I came across your videos. You are kind, patient and very detailed in the explanation. Question for the 3rd problem. As soon as I saw it my brain said. 1 kilo = 1000 grams. ok so 500 kilo grams X 1,000 grams should be 500,000 however all I did was move the comma over 3 three zeros. I remember being taught this way back, back, back when I was in school. Would this method also work?

I have taken the accuplacer QRAS EXAM twice and gotten a 236. Needed a 243 for the LPN class. I understand this test that your teaching, but when I get to take the actual test; I don’t know anything on there. Well maybe 3 or 4. How do I get some practice questions like the exam, because this ain’t it!

Hello, are the accuplacer and math placement test the same?

i have a question on number 1 ? how do you know when you
Wait a minute, the equation had -1/4 in it, so When you had -4/4 and came up with a -1, you were actually supposed to subtract -1 (negative 1) when you subtract a negative number you are actually adding the positive equivalent so the answer was actually 13/8.
Its 15/8 but you said this 2 months ago so you probably realized you were wrong but if not, Your multiplying the numerator (top number) with the other numerator (top number) and denominator (bottom number) with the other denominator (bottom number) and because its 4/1 and -1/4, That means its (4x-1) and (1x4) which (4x-1) is -4 and (1x4) is 4 meaning now its -4/4 which if you divide it becomes -1, sorry if I confuse you more Im not good at explaining.

I was wondering what we would do if there’s multiple denominators, like say there’s a 2, 3 and 4.. do we find the LCD of each number and make sure they all like up? Hopefully this makes sense, thank you!
Hi, I'm not Ms.Amber but I can definitely give you a response.
In the video, there are multiple denominators: 2, 2, 4
Essentially we are finding the LCD between those 3, we could've wrote it like :
2: 2,4
2: 2,4
4:4
Ms.Amber only wrote out 2 and 4, because that's all we really needed, even if we were to input 2, 2, 4 instead of 2,4 it wouldn't really matter. It's really preference if you want to include all 3 when there's already 2 of the same numbers, so it's really not needed.
What if it was 2,3, and 4? The LCD will change, because it will no longer be 4 between the numbers 2 and 4, the LCD we will be finding from will be of 2, 3, and 4. Let's list out the multiples of each.
2: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12
3: 3,6,9, 12
4: 4,8, 12
What's the first number that pops up that is common with in THREE of those rows? 12.
So, instead of multiplying by 4 it will be 12, which since 12 is a bigger number than 4, we will get bigger answers. Hope this helped.

Are the Accuplacer tests the same every year?
They should cover similar problems - if a test changes it will update the practice test. so far these videos are on the latest practice test available.

you want the LEAST common denominator, meaning you want the smallest number that is the same
No, you want the most common denominator that comes first (the smallest #).
You take the smallest commun denominator which is # 4
It’s easier to understand when use the term LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR as opposed to “Least”. Then you remember 4 is the lowest common denominator as opposed to say 8, which is a bigger number. Hope this helps ☺️
