Pam cake - I did 4yrs in Ohio for a felonious assault. I will be the first to say that ~85% of the guys in there definitely needed to be handed their sentences. But, the rest definitely should've never seen the inside of those walls. The worst part, is that there'd be some straight-up child molesters getting 2yr and 3yr sentences, yet he'd be sitting right next to a guy who's got 7-10yrs for non-violent marijuana trafficking charges. The cell next to my cell, the guy was doing 7yrs flat for getting caught with 7lbs of weed and $8,000 in cash... Another guy a tier below me and a few cells over, was doing 3yrs for Sexual Misconduct w/a minor (he was 36 she was 13) and had 3 counts of GSI (gross sexual imposition) from shit he was doing to his 3 nieces who were between the ages of 4 and 8... How in the hell does that weed man get 7yrs, and the child molester only get 3yrs!? It was insane to me... What was even crazier, is that this was a common theme amongst the sexual offenders. Sure, there were guys who got handed down some very rough numbers for rapes and whatnot, but more times than not the child molesters, booty bandits, and sex offenders were coming in with really short bids in comparison to what they committed, and other guys getting stroked for decades over way lesser of crimes... The system has needed an overhaul desperately over the past decades. The reason we have such hardline laws and punishment, is because of the old political campaigns of showing you're "tough on crime" to your voters, so they felt like you were making the community a better place. When, what they should've been saying was "We pick and choose who and when we're tough on crime, based on the person's appearance, level of finances, and geographical area they live in writing the district".... Supposed to be the "land of the free", yet we have more inmates per capita than any other country in the world... The title is The Department of REHABILITATION and Corrections, but there's no 'rehabilitation' about it, just pure punishments from a vengeance based, eye for an eye, justice system... Definitely needs overhauled and changed. Maybe take some lessons from Denmark, Finland, and Sweden's prison and Rehabilitation systems... Low recidivism rates, high inmate to prodfuctive member of society conversions, and they focus on actual rehabilitation and not just straight up punishing people and treating them like rodents...

And the one thing that gets me mad THE MOST out of everything, Is those innocent people that have gotten arrested for a crime that they didn't commit. Its so many sad stories on that. So many people that have wasted so much money on lawyers and have done up to 30 years for a crime that they didn't even commit. And at the end of the day when they find out the real person than they release the innocent one like its all good. Like wow. No type of recognition whats so ever. Like one guy who did like 40 years in prison for something that he didn't do. And when they found out he didn't do it, they relased him and only gave him like $70. Like seriously?
