i assume this is acheived by just changing the seed distribution head ? this is a normal cereals seed drill the rest of the time ? i imagine this would be a more economic option than buying a whole new machine ie: plate/disk/finger type planter with row sync etc etc , but how good is the in row plant spacing ?

The system of AEROSEM DUPLEX SEED runs with the PCS (precision combi seeding) independent from the distrubion head. There is one metering for each maize row underneath the hopper. In the case of the DUPLEX SEED there are eight meterings mounted on the machine. They are driven by a hydraulic motor. There is no activity to change the distribution head. The change from maize seeding to standard drilling (wheat, barley) takes less than 10 minutes in total. It is only necessary to move the flap in the seed tank to provide different volumes for seed (Corn) and fertilizer. The plant spacing in the row is supervised by an optical sensor. That ensures a perfect spacing of the maize plants.
