    So little in life can match the elegance of a choral piece done in just the right place.

    We sang this in church last Sunday. I'm blessed to belong to a choir that wants to do great music, and is capable of it.

    I have been singing and listening to choral music all of my life and the "Pilgrim's Hymn" is one of the most beautiful pieces that I have ever heard. This choir sings with such passion. Thank you for touching my soul!

    Our Church Choir feels so blessed to have commissioned Stephen to compose a piece for us before he had his massive stroke. The week he passed our choir joined hands during our rehearsal and sang this piece as a memorial to Stephen. A gifted composer and a beautiful person.

    Every time I hear this piece I tear up .Not just because I went to UWEC, but for the beauty and the story that Stephen Paulus has decided to share with us, mere mortals .
    It will be sung at my last farewll, along with " On the way home," another Stephen Paulus song .

    been singing under Alan Heatherington and the Chicago Master Singers for more than a decade, Pilgrim's Hymn was on our Spring Concert repertoire, amazing, audience members reported that same feeling of being transported. The all acapella concert included 24-other selections, and the Tour Chorus is on the way to eastern europe with the same piece, can't wait to sing the Paulus again.

    This recording has a weird stereo separation, but I actually like the effect and the way it makes the voices blend. I really like this recording. But the fact is, this choir simply nailed this piece perfectly and sang it exquisitely.

    My experience with Paulus was Musiquotes, which I disliked greatly and learned was not his best work. It's great to hear this and other songs (e.g., The Road Home) and know that he composed some beautiful music. I hope my choir does some of his work sometime soon. Very sad that he passed away at such a young age.

  • @flowercowboy
    @flowercowboy Před 5 lety +2

    Beautiful. Could only be made moreso with the smallest bit of word stress. It lives in a cloud of vowel. And it's a stunning cloud.

    • @nonenoneonenonenone
      @nonenoneonenonenone Před rokem

      Yes, consonants are needed to articulate the vowels. I have no idea what the words are, and they do matter, not only tone. One cannot sing in English, especially American English with Italian vowel colors. The palette is very different.

      You should hear "The Road Home" by this same guy. Listen to the F keyed one not the F#, in the F keyed, the second to last note, the basses go down to a C and it sounds amazing. I think you would love it.
