I have the clutch problem but i,ve never thought about this white thing around the cable thank you so much you explained the solution for me thanks a bunch
Thank you very very bru much for this simple, yet valuable information when trying to reinstall the clutch cable on a Polo 6n2... I greatly appreciate it. Thank you again! 😎👍🏼
Just had the same problem, if you dont have 3 hands, hook the end bit somewhere on the car to kerp the tension on, and that leaves your other hand free to put the lock back on 😊
Remove cable off clutch assembly ans get someone to operate it while you hold some tension on the other end... It should be smooth and operate freely. If tha is OK... See if you can operate the clutch fulrim lefer with a large set of vice grips as a lever. I suspect you may have a problem in the clutch mechanically if the cable is nice and free
Hi Westy Crypto, can you explain how the twist lock mechanism works? There are two slide channels and I can see that you can twist the clutch side independently of the pedal side. To prep for reset, do you twist clockwise? And then after its compressed, you twist it counter-clockwise? I've been unable to find an explanation of the twist lock part of the cable anywhere.
Hi, I drive a Renault Laguna that has a self adjusting clutch cable. Problem is, that it apparently self adjusts so much, that I cannot get any gears. I have to keep on taking it back to the mechanic to readjust. This cant be normal. Do you know what causes this problem?
Well the cable broke about 4 times. Maybe lasting for a month at the most. Then it ended up with a mechanic who replaced the clutch plate and then broke about 6 clutch cables. Literally putting them in and on the test drive, it would break. Then fonally got it to work and apparently put a steel casing over the cable.... what do I know about cars... it has lasted, but keeps on adjusting. How do they install it correctly? Or are they doing something wrong or missing a step before installing it? Yhank you for your quick response. I am at my wits end and spending a lot of money cause they cant get it right. :-(
I am trying to get this cable gold Wagen is sell junk cables so now I am going to try the scrap yards in Durban😠 and it's not cheap and the sales men know it and now I must wait 4 weeks to get money back wtf
These auto-adjust cables are crap. They can fail out of the box. Much better to switch to the manual adjust type and then learn how to readjust it which takes 5 minutes every year or two.
I have tried several times doing the exact same thing, but its impossible on my cable. I wish we could go back to when things was made not to give you a heart attack when fixing on things. I hate the designer made this stupid things!

Westy, you're a genius. I owe you a pint. Thanks for your help from an incompetent mechanic in the UK. 😉😜🤪

Hi ! Thanks for your video! But where can we find your tool that you used to lock the mechanism (the little gummy attachment?)
I know it's late but the white piece that holds the adjustable part in place comes pre-installed on the cable and doesn't come off.
@@spicecd yep, and I did not have it. I think previous owner removed it or I don't know.
Thanks :)

Faulty self adjuster cable assembly perhaps?

Does this clutch cable fits on a Golf 1 ?
could you please show me how to attach the clutch cable end to the clutch pedal for MK3...I don't know but for some reason it didn't get in the slot
you have to take the other end off at the clutch itself first.
Is the lock supposed to stay on?
only until you fit it into the clutch pedal assembly
Do you unstrap it after you have connected it at the bottom ?
Yes
What is the name of the locking mechanism so I can buy one!?
it is part of the cable assembly. you can make a make shift one ... You tube it :)
