This is one of Eddie Murphy's most underrated films. Gets overshadowed by his other 80s movies like 48 hours, Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2, Trading Places, and Coming to America.
But it partially overshadowed Big Trouble In Little China.
Box office wise anyway.
Eddie Murphy hated this movie...I loved it...I lose it every time he says..."What was that..with the FLIP?!"
I like this, I also like "Metro."
@@seanswinton6242 that one was pretty good too.
Why not mention Harlem nights?
Kristen having such a good time gettin Achara she was snort laughing. These 2 together have gotta be my favorite.
I have watched this movie so many times. It never gets old to me. Eddie Murphy is great, but Charles Dance rounds the movie out perfectly.
I had no idea Twin Lannister was in this movie until now
this is my favorite Eddie Murphy movie. I still quote it to this day. "My brother Numsey!" 😂😂😂
Eddie Murphy improvised the scene where he jumps the fence and sees the family grilling.
BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA next! It makes a great double feature with THE GOLDEN CHILD!
Anyone else recognize the two prominent Asian actors who portrayed adversaries in Big Trouble in Little China??
I forgot the guy who played Tommy Tong was one of the three Storms as well
The "Golden Child" was actually played by actress J.L. Reate.
@marcellhawkins1298 I've seen pictures of her having a reunion with Eddie Murphy, funny to see her all grown up with a full head of hair🤣
Yep! Most people thought she was a boy.
Bet the recent AI-agitprop movie 'The Creator' was an homage to the 'Golden Child'.
Funny reaction. The part with the blood in the oatmeal when I was young totally freaked me out.
Same 🤢
Charles Dance made a career of scaring the crap out of me. Also, he would never lower himself to speak american
Kristen chose violence on this day.
Charles Dance was an underrated actor having also appeared in Alien 3 and The Last Action Hero
Leave it to the women to hold the fact that she died for him for the rest of his life 😂😂
Achara and Kristen are so sweet and when Kristen "snorts", that's it for me,nothing makes me laugh more than that, she feels so much emotion at both ends of the spectrum,Humour or saddness,it's 100% all in from her..My two favorite reactors.
The actor who plays the golden child is actually female. Jasmine Reate. She was my classmate in elementary school.
Saw this movie when I was younger, did not learn that fact until recently
Hey lovely ladies. This is a great selection. One of my childhood favorites. I literally use to watch it everytime "Showtime and The Movie Channel" showed it. My repeat rotations were: Mannequin, Big trouble and little china and The Golden Child.
Wow, forgot about Mannequin. Now I’m reminded of Andrew McCarthy and Less Than Zero 💀
Fun fact: the voice of the demonic entity is Frank Welker, one of the best and most prolific in the voice acting community. He’s used the same voice for Dr. Claw in the original Inspector Gadget animated series and for the Cave of Wonders in Disney’s Aladdin, among others.
! Don’t forget Megatron! We love Frank!
Also the voice of Malebolgia in Spawn (1997).
@@turbopokey I SWORE i recognized his voice but couldn't quite place from where. Megatron must be it.
@@russellh.3150 possibly but Frank was in nearly everything. Any movie that had an odd vocalization in it somewhere, they usually had him do it. Remember that 90s Jim belushi buddy-cop movie “K9” where the other cop was a cranky old German Shepard? All the weird sounds the dog made was actually Frank. Aliens, animals, demons, he did them all. They didn’t have computers to help make all the weird noises back in the day so they had Frank do nearly all of them and before him the famous Mel Blanc did lots of that stuff up through the 70s at least.
Next time Gadget!. Next time!
"I saw a nipple!" 😂😂😂 That expression on her face
An Eddie Murphy sleeper that you will LOVE is "Bowfinger"
I remember seeing this as a kid, and thinking it was very exciting. I was thoroughly entertained. It sits along other movies like Abyss as great movies I watched at birthday parties.
Two of the cast members in this movie played in BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA
James Hong and the late Victor Wong.
FINALLY! Someone else is reacting to this movie! I remember when this movie came out! My dad took my sister and I to the drive in to see it. I was 7 years old. I’ve seen it many many years.
Yes, Charles Dance did plenty of work as a baddie in the '80s.... but Tywin Lannister made him immortal! ;)
Sweet brother Numsie worked for Dr Claw.
Yes, that is Frank Welker, who first used that voice as Dr. Claw. He must have really liked it, because he later used it for Darkseid in Superfriends and, electronically modified, Soundwave on Transformers. Of course, his signature role is Freddy Jones in the Scooby-Doo franchise.
There are so many more 80s gems left to watch.
Finally! More CZcamsrs need to react to The Golden child 🔥
This movie is so good to watch & laugh. Fun fact: the horse in the dream Eddie was having wandered in from another set & they left it in the scene.
What. Really. I thought this would never be reviewed. Thank you I love it. My cousin begged me to buy him this hat. Great memories 🎉🎉❤
Thanks you two! Love the reaction to a childhood favorite. Also, Achara, you should start making up wild and sordid confessions and divulge them to Kristen and see how long it takes her to betray your secrets on camera.
Charlotte Lewis is absolutely gorgeous. And as for the tone and rest of the cast, there is an overlap with John Carpenter's Big Trouble in Little China.
This was one of my favorite Eddie Murphy movies as a kid. I didn’t know that it had bad reviews until I grew up. I still love it to this day though.
FINALLY someone else reacted to this movie
You gotta watch "Life" "Boomerang" and "Harlem Nights" ASAP. They will have you cryin'.
Great Movie !! Came out the summer I graduated elementary school
Tommy Tong was in Big Trouble in Little China as well.
Yeah, the wind elemental, right? He had the really long hair/wig if I remember correctly.
@@turbopokeyHis name was Rain, but yeah, the long-haired one...
@@AshLee92490 Yes, hair stay slaying!💯😄
@@sagittarius420cheefie Tresses flowed by the gods lol...
@@AshLee92490 Facts 😆
"Ki...Dr Hong....NUUMP-SIE has forgiven me!"
😂😂
They said Eddie Murphy add- libbed his way through this whole movie!
GoD i hate my memory. I've watched this a handful of times since I was a kid and don't remember it correctly. I had no idea he found lost children. And I got the Oatmeal with blood in it all wrong.
Just an FYI, the Child cannot use magic to "blast", "take out", or harm anyone/anything. Magic that helps and heals, White Magic, Good. Magic that causes harm, Black Magic, Malevolent/Dark Magic. Which would corrupt the Child.
The little boy in the movie is actually a girl. The lead bad guy was the Lannister father from Game of Thrones.
The Golden Child was a childhood favourite of mine
Dont smoke the scrolls 😂😂😂😂I love this movie throwback to when I was a kid had it on VHS 😂. Awesome show there ladies 👏 Keep up the terrific work 👏 👌 👍 😀
When she cries out "I died for you!"
Calmly say "Yes, I know Love! And I fought, Conquered a Demon from Hell, and Saved The Golden Child to bring you back to Life.
So Shut Up!
😂😂😂👏👏👏
😂
"My big mouth needed it!" Oh man, that's so funny. Kristen is hillarious.
I saw it as a kid in a cinema in Poland. Greetings from Poland, from the city of Łódź.
Wooooooow yall the first CZcams reactors that did this movie
Now you need to watch the film that The Golden Child competed with in the cinema, Howard the Duck another brilliant very funny comedy action film.
The Golden Child is a classic. That is all.
I saw it as a kid with my older cousins in theater. Always a family rental store favorite too!
Every kid who grew up in the 80's and early 90's watched this movie on VHS, cable or ABC. This is a underrated Eddie Murphy gem, apparently it didn't do that good in theaters. But it found an audience on TV and is a cult classic.
I loved this movie as a child. When the villain turns into a demon it always scared the sh*t out of me! 🤣
You girls are the best team in CZcams channel .... Tanks for all you do ladies....🎉🎉🎉
Yes! More Tanks...! 😄
Kristen you are my all time favorite watchers on you tube. From your take of Armageddon to the golden child it never falls to make my day. Thanks you guys much love
Holy Shit Kristen. LMFAO! That throw under the bus :)
“There’s no ground here!!”
The Golden Child was Eddie Murphy's followup to 1984's Beverly Hills Cop from 1986. He took a year off from movies to record his first music album How Could It Be which featured the single "Party All the Time" in 1985. The song, "Best Man In the World" heard during the opening credits was written by John Barry who had written several of the James Bond theme songs. The song was sung by Ann Wilson(of Heart fame).
I just mentioned this movie on a different channel a couple days ago. So many great Eddie Murphy movies. Harlem Nights and Boomerang is another must watch. Along, with The Nutty Professor 1 and 2.
Happy to see you ladies reacting to this 80s Eddie Murphy classic the 80s are forever
This was one of my favorite movies growing up. I’m glad you are getting to experience it.
I swear every time Kristen snorts I fall a little harder for her 😂❤
I grew up watching this movie. One of my lifetime favorites. Fun Fact: The character of The Golden Child was a boy, but was played by a little girl, Actress J.L. Reate. Another great supernatural type action movie from the 80s you should react to is Big Trouble in Little China with Kurt Russell and Kim Cattrall. Way better visual effects and better action scenes than The Golden Child. A lot of funny moments, too.
This is my favorite Eddie movie. he had such a great run from the 80s to the early 80s that critics came down hard on this movie but i always liked it and now its a cult classic
Wow finally a reactor does a reaction to this great movie what a surprise bravo.
I love this movie. I always remember we watched it movie day in middle school. Tywin Lanister against Eddie Murphy how an you not like that.
14:00 - "We got the PG-13 tatas!!!" - Achara Kirk (2024)
I like how the evil dude is a tall slender, posh looking guy, and when he turned into his true form he became a demon with a dad-bod :D haha
One of my childhood favorites! I wish more people would react to it. Please watch The Toy next!
One of my favorite childhood movies. Great reaction!!
I saw it when it came out on video, I was around 11 or 12 and I totally loved the movie. In the 80s this movie was awesome!
Great to see this rare movie being reacted to, you girls are hilarious.
Oh yeah Eddie Murphy Harlem Nights with Arsenio Hall and the late great Richard Pryor definitely a must watch
Loved this film and loved your chemistry during the reaction.
Years later, Murphy called this film a piece of s#it. The film developed a cult following, but even the producers and director admitted the movie was not what it should have been, but was a movie crafted as a "Eddie Murphy film" on the heels of Beverly Hills Cop. It's campy fun. Roger Ebert was one of the few critics who gave it a positive review.
EVERYONE, young and old, watched and loved this movie back in the day guys. Lots of our movies were loved and watched no matter what age you were.
The touch and control of the Holden child is where avengers got Loki’s setter control idea from.
This is such an underrated movie.
"I, I, I, I want the knife"
This is actually from 1986 still underrated Murphy film.
i recommend you :
🔥 *Bowfinger* (1999) 🔥
_Eddie Murphy & Steve Martin_
¡¡ UNDERRATED !!
One of the best comedies of all time.
yes please i agreed!
Achara and Kristen are jokes, such a great team.
"Classic Eddie" is like comfort food.
Fun as Always yall' 😆 I love watching these movies with you two.✌🏾😎
The movie was actually released in 1986
I’m so glad you both decided to watch this show and also enjoyed it.
Contrary to other opinions, I really dig this movie. I thought it was one of Eddie's best performances, and he did it without excessive profanity with F-bombs and such. For the life of me, I can't remember that beautiful woman's name, but she did a photo shoot for Playboy that was tasteful and very well done.
DAMN I haven't see this one years! And thinking about it, this is an extremely creative framework for Eddie'. The man was on fire in the 80s! I don't know of any other channel reacting to this one so... well done!
My favourite Eddie Murphy movie, equally with "Trading places", just before Beverly Hills Cop and Coming to America.
Eddie should have did a part 2 to this 😅
Watch them try it like with other movies 💀 The Platinum Child
The guy they're interrogating at 15:00 is Michael Douglas's brother.
This movie was released on December 12th 1986.
I watched this movie soooo many times back in the day.
This movie Is an absolute classic.Awesome reaction as always!😎🤙🏾
27:34 - Don't know if you two ever saw "Big Trouble In Little China" (1986)? (Directed by John Carpenter). But this old man (Victor Wong) plays a major role in that movie, a character called "Egg Shan". James Hong also stars in that movie alongside Kurt Russell, and Kim Cattrall. Actor Peter Kwong (who played Tommy Tong in this movie) is also in B.T.I.L.C., and also famous Chinese martial arts actor, Carter Wong. It's a really fun and funny movie!
This movie is a great “cousin” movie of Big Trouble in Little China. Both awesome West meets East action flicks.
The golden child is actually played by a girl, but I don’t expect anyone to be able to tell. These days you get your ass handed to you for miss Genderen someone- but luckily this movies from the 80s and nobody gave a crap about that stuff back then!
This is the movie that introduced me to Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister)!
Why is everyone writing "Tyrion" as "Tywin"?
I haven't even watched Game of Thrones and it bugs me when fans do not care reading the actual spelling of character or actor's names …
@@Cau_No Two different people. Tywin is correct.
@@russellh.3150 Ok, my fault. Did George R.R.Martin run out of letters?
I loved it when Eddie dj scratched on the post when I saw this in the 80s.
James Hong is one of my favorite actors
If you want to watch an underrated movie also featuring Charles Dance, you should watch 'Last Action Hero'. A lot of people hated on it when it came out, but I think it's a pretty fun movie.
"Remember that time I died for you?"
"Remember that time I saved the world and brought you back to life?"
I recommend watching Lean on Me another 80’s classic
Love this movie, so much fun ❤❤
