- I have just upgraded from my mid-range Ksyrium Elite wheelset to the Mavic Ksyrium SLS wheelset. The new SLS's are around 1400 grams for the set making them great for lightweight climbing wheels. The question I try to answer is if it is worth it to pay top dollar for the premium Mavic Ksyrium SLS wheelset over the great performing Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheelset.
#mavic #ksyrium #sls
I paid £400 for Mavic ksyrium SLS brand new condition only ridden 5 miles since new 👌 had it for 16 months and been perfect I love these wheels
Cool
I just got a pristine pair for $75 with Ultegra 6800 cassette and bags!
whoa... killer deal
Hi there. Great video man. I have a pair of Ksyrium SL 100 Anniversary version beneath my 928L. They are light and quick. I had to service the front because of squeaking sound due to riding in bad weather conditions. But they are still rocking.
I am back on the elites now since I am carrying an extra 3kg of camera equipment lately. They seem to be a little stiffer when descending. Sls are great for lighter loads
Available
Nice Bianchi setup 👍Aero wheels are also dangerous in a bunch when it's windy.
Yeah I'm just concerned with lightweight it's the hills that seem to be the hardest... Not racing so you know
Replaced my 20 year old Mavic Kyserium Elites which I thought were good with similarly used and aged Mavic Kyserium SSC SLs. Not only are they smoother and feel (are) faster, they have more control and stiffness overall which is quality you can feel with every pedal stroke. Yours must be really nice and you paid less for your newer ones than me.
ya... most 'youngsters' have moved to the disc brake wheels... lots of bargains in the older rim brake category
agree, most of dont ride 40 kph, and supposed aero are a wash climbing, even group riding. and carbon cost way more than they benefit you, its almost like getting a ferrari, they look way cool
i agree
E-lite lol
eh-lite?
Elite is one word! Just one…
Indeed, it's also comprised of 2 syllables
@@scottrider7271 In fairness, it is the type of a play on a word that a bike company would perhaps utilise and, it also may not be particularly used in the US? Maybe?! 😳
It has two pronunciations according to the dictionary.. and the one I've heard the most is the one I use the most... that's how language works. it still has the same meaning and it still has two syllables. I come from Canada so on words like this we typically go with the more British English in most cases.
@@scottrider7271 Absolutely! God save Her Maj!
:p
do you use them with tube or tubeless?
tubes
These are not tubeless ready rims not possible I prefer inner tube less hassle
Yeah I'm old school.. I usually just take a spare tube with me but honestly I haven't had a flat for years it's strange..maybe the roads are good here or something.
@@scottrider7271 Continental GP4000S tyres I had zero punctures in 3000 miles and after that 1st puncture on front
That is pretty weird... remember back like 20 years ago... get flats every 2 to 3 days.. now you don't it's weird.
Is this Taipei
yes it is
Not the best idea to stop to do some CZcams video in the side of a narrow mountain road...
Wasn't as bad as it looked. There was a marked shoulder and two lanes.
@@scottrider7271 it looks really dicey. For that risk, maybe identify the area once. Thanks for your Mavic wheel vids.
Wasn't as bad as it looks ...the roads actually very low traveled to just happen to be a few cars go by... There's tons of cyclists on the roads cars typically watch out for everybody
elite lol americans
i am canadian ... lol
i say 'ee-leet'.. closer to the French pronunciation ...maybe because Canada has French as a second language and I have heard the accent. looking at the origin of the word: QUOTE: "From Middle English elit, from Old French elit, eslit (“chosen, elected”) past participle of elire, eslire (“to choose, elect”), from Latin eligere (“to choose, elect”), with past participle electus; see elect." ... anyways...
@@scottrider7271 omg thats crazy
Mavic makes shitty products the freewheel is complete trash
There's a bit of slop..I wouldn't say it's complete trash, but there's definitely better options
The maintenance is super easy, if a bit frequent. But it's actually a good design and reliable if you take care of it.
Prebuilt wheels are shit custom built always beats prebuilt wheels
Customs can definitely be the way to go I agree ..but you have to be careful sometimes
