I've seen a few locticians and people with locs explaining that the new growth growing away from the locs is mostly from popping locs beacuse the strands that snapped grow back outside of the locs. They advise to gently finger detangle the roots instead of popping
So true.
Hmmmm that sounds like good advice. I will try doing this!
I think it’s also mostly because we have different textures all around ur head so if ur hair is finer or softer, it’s most likely to slide out of the Loc instead of growin in and with it; so it needs more attention than if the hair is coarser and thicker.
@@ariesgirl6745 that too. That's why some of us benefit from a more consistent retwist/maintenance.
😊thank u for your vedo very informative 😊@@too1508
I semi freeform. I have locs growing on their own coming from different locs. I would say retwist every other time you wash your hair. You look like you have naturally thick hair, so your hair is gonna do its thing.
Great advice.
Omg. Never seen the braiding technique!!! I think this may work for me with the new growth. I’m trying it! Thank you!!
You're welcome! Glad it helped
I don’t know if anybody told u but u beautiful
Thank you!
Gurl your locs are beauuutiful 😍
Thank you!
Your locs are simply beautiful and so are you🥰 I am in my first 6 months loc journey without retwisting... Loving it so far!❤️
Thank you so much!!
@@holisticflo you're very welcome 😇
Love the idea of braiding them into locs!! Good job and thanks .. this is what I will do in the future when I have long beautiful locs like you 😊
You're welcome and im glad it was helpful 🙌🏾
Yes this will definitely be the method I use as my locs mature.
I love this method
Ok, I thought I was going crazy. I thought I was getting more tender-headed and brushed it off...but I'm glad to hear I'm not alone. My hair grows away from my loc too and now that I'm going longer between retwists, it's a bit of a nightmare. More and more, I'm leaning toward semi-free form, but I needed a way to kinda wrangle those pesky hairs together. Thanks for the tip
You're so welcome and trust me you're not alone
I feel like I have the same situation as you, my hair is very coily and tight in my crown area and because of this if I don’t maintain it, it just becomes a bush.
I do get retwists when i feel the need, I find waiting 4 months is the most I can go before it gets too crazy lol
Hi gyal. The first thing da came in mind when I started watching ur video is trust yourself, the processus and your feeling don’t put any pression🙏🏾
I like this braid maintenance method your use for ur roots ( I don’t use it but it’s cool to see someone using her finger and not the classic other tools like crochet). It reminds me, natural method to repair loc (with braid or twist method) 😌
I love this natural approch, and I told to myself « I gonna use others tools (like crochet or scissors) or pay someone else only if it’s vital emergency or can’t do it by myself »
I think if someone is looking for an alternative to repair the locs with natural method it can help for real🙏🏾
And the new intro is cool 😉👌🏾
Thanks for the advice! 🫶🏾
I’m glad I found your Channel, and I love how thick your Locs are. I’m going to try (or I’m already) semi-Free-forming. I used to retwist and interlock my hair to keep it “clean” for work and it wrecked havoc on my scalp and especially edges. I haven’t retwisted or interlocked for 6 months now but I still try to separate them when I wash to prevent marrying. I’m still comfortable with how my new growth are still attached to my Locs but I think I might end up retwisting once a year by myself so I can control the tension on my scalp.
Thanks so much for sharing! And thank you glad you found something that works well
Man...I loove your look. You're so good looking! 😊
So Ive been challenging myself to semi freeform (cause I used to retwist like every week) as well and apparently my hair grows into the loc. But to control any flyaways from loc popping, I wrap them around the base of the locs rather than braiding because it isn't a lot of hair outside the loc.
Thank you! And thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing 😊
You're welcome!
I actually love your hair. My hair looks like that and I think it’s normal and I do think that loose hair if trained will eventually grow inside the loc because mine are doing Jus that. I do care for my roots weekly or bi weekly I’m semi free former and I’m love watching my locs jus twist and turn matt up all kinds of which way lol
Thank you for the advice and compliments!
Thats how my locs are too... I have keep them in the loc because before i realized what was happening a few locs were already thinning so no wash and go for me.
It turned out fantastic
Thank you
I love this method been trying it ever since (Atreyu locs) mentioned it his page after he learned it from Yannie the locogolist. But every 3 to 4 months I maintain by crochet method just cause it holds better for me.
Beautiful Locs
Thank you!
Love your hair I’m trying more and more not to retwist my hair so often
Thank you!
I love this look instead of the exposed scalp, how many months of new growth is that?
It was a month and a hlaf
U are fineeeeeeeee ❤
Love your 👑 queen
Thank you!
I promise its a stage. Dr Bronners will help with this. Once you reach a certain point your hair has to relearn again. I remember being terrified that this was happening. Those poping out are there to support your hair for weight. I did the same thing in this stage though . But washing will help. Im 8 years in and its changed so much. Also they know when they need to merge you will know too.. i remember that i also washed did a light water conditioner mix on the root amd rinse well dried but when a light damn wore my hair up at night or in a cap but eventually it relearns with the weigh added. Its so weird and cool to watch you hair just know and learn to loc as time and weight goes on.
All of mine want to merge lol
the thickness of ur locs makes it seem like u have high top wen looking from the front, shul'v gotten about 100+ locs coz it doesn't seem like they reach 100, if they do well great , anyways good vid, very detailed & a beautiful skin u got there 🥵
Thanks for the compliments!
When you say braiding the new growth are you talking about interlocking/ weaving the new growth into the lock?
Yes
Don't know if the question makes sense or not but i will appreciate if you can help point out the difference between pouring water on my hair daily (and sometimes washing with my body wash soap) and waiting every two weeks to thoroughly shampoo and condition my locs?
One is more of a co-wash or a light cleanse, and the other is a deep cleanse. Theres no right or wrong answer to which one you should do because the answer will be different for everyone
@@holisticflo Alright, thank you! I appreciate your honest response. 🙏🏾
I don’t remember if you did a video on this, but how do you feel about conditioning your locs?
I don't condition my locs and theyre completely fine so i don't think it's necessary
@@holisticfloSame.
I have one year old locs that are like about 6 inches and I want to start semi free forming , any tips ?
Only 6 inches? 😮
@@joleshore4818 started off my hair really short that’s why lol
@@joleshore4818hair generally grows a half inch a month so that’s not bad it’s actually normal
Yes, heres a video i made about it. I hope it helps! czcams.com/video/xPYyO9rsxj4/video.htmlsi=qvwOFsj3snWqEEyI
Can someone help me, I have 4C hair and my hair just started locing so I let it do what it wants. It naturally started with its own parts and grouping and everything. Soooo, if I Freeform would it help me to retain length without retwisting? So eventually when I get to the length I want to comb and cut the ends I will have my natural hair long? If that makes sense
I believe that freefroming allow the hair to grow stronger and longer than in its loose natural state
That lose hair will form new baby locs.
