  • Choosing the sailing lifestlye means that life doesn't ever go as planned and you just have to roll with the punches. We spent the weekend in the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park and we weren't about to let a few issues stand in the way of having a good time.
We had a bit of an issue with our first upload of the video, so here we go with a second try. Hope you enjoy it!

Want more?! How about a little FAQ
    ❓Why Folsom Ocean Views?!
⚓️Because Folsom is Charles’ last name and it’s a play on the Johnny Cash Lyric "Folsom Prison Blues".
    ❓Why a #Catamaran?
⚓️Jes gets really seasick while #sailing and the upstairs galley really helps when we #travel.
❓You both work full time jobs?
⚓️Yup. Charles has a traditional 9-5 position as the Director of Customer Success and Jes owns her own business doing art commissions for clients. #WorkingandSailing
    ❓Where to Next?
⚓️We are not sure. Part of the fun of this #DigitalNomad #lifesytle is that you can pick your #adventures

My back flares up too... I get a pinched nerve feel, then my muscles lock up to protect the flaring nerve... It becomes a nasty cycle. Sometimes it'll last for days! A doctor friend recommended I take a muscle relaxer I had on hand... GAME CHANGER! As soon as you feel that nerve pinch feeling, take a muscle relaxer, get in a comfortable position and wait for the meds to take effect. If you can keep the muscles from locking up, the pinched nerve feeling disappears for me. If you haven't tried it, try it. You're welcome.

So the siphon trick is great… if you use it to fill the diesel tanks this can give you an advantage of picking up clean fuel from the top of the jerry jug… and dirt and water in the jerry jug will settle out to the bottom. Kind of like decanting wine.. and considering approximately where you are getting fuel is much easier in the dingy using jerry jugs…we have been doing this a lot here in the Bahamas… and even though it’s an extra step the need to go into some fuel docks is really reduced…

Charles. I can relate to your bank issue. In 2021, I had sciatica. Real sharp pain from my right but down my right thigh. The MRI says I had a slightly compressed lumbar disk, yet even though I felt no pain there, the docs are convinced that the pinched nerve in the lower back was the cause. Seems is not uncommon.
    .
The exercise you demonstrated was one I was told would work too open up the disk and there the pain. A second one, which may help you, was to sit on a couch or low chair, even the toilet. Legs apart and very flat on the floor. Then lean forward and touch my hands to the floor.......or reach forward if it did not hurt too much. After some days and repetitions, was Walt to keep my hands flat on the floor and also stretch way forward. Helped sooooooo much. Best wishes.
    .
    Love the episode.✨👍✌🏻️

..... laughing .... Know exactly what you are saying Jess about being home when underwater .. with me it started when mom put sis and I in swim lessons when we were preschool, and the teacher told mum that swimming was not my challenge but the goal was to stay on the surface and I was on the bottom all the time ... to this day love the freeness of being underwater but have never pursued scuba or freediving which really has me intrigued. Ended up with a pacemaker when I was 26 and when once went to sign-up for scuba, well you know those sounds on gameshows when you fail, well it was all of those and looking for the exit when the pacemaker was revealed to the instructor. .. one day when I am back at the coast I shall per vale, as sis points out when I set my mind I am determined and succeed .... re your ingenious weight belt solution, is there not a quick release knot where you pull say the long end and you are free. It is just that if you are in a situation and could only get one hand to the carabiner would you be able to release without having to put much thought in how to release it. I am not a knot guy so have no suggestions ... I sympathize with Charles on the back challenge, my back gives me grief but only in times when I work in a scenario that I am desk bound, if my work is physical with movement and some weight involved, no issues ... just a thought, some workouts with a kettle bell sort of idea, weight of sorts .. I am not trained in the field but think twisting and strengthening muscle may help .. back issues are a pain in the tush to say the least ... sure enjoyed the colors of all the fish, how brilliant they all were ... thx for sharing Charles and Jess .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ... like your idea of using doggie pads to deal with fuel splashes ....

The core problem with back pain in your case is in the nervous system. I know exactly what I am saying. The reasons why are complex. But the secret is creating healing and "peace" in the nervous system. Easier said than done. But at least now you are working on the right thing.

Those small karabiners have the breaking strain of a wet kleenex, I`d`ve used the rope to tie a draw hitch (sometimes called a Highwayman`s Hitch) , super useful to secure items when you need a quick release.See link below ;)
Down here, we set our bouyancy to be neutral at nine metres for snorkelling or spear fishing, the idea being that no effort is required to get down and therefore less disturbance to the fish.
For diving I set my weight so that my eyes are level with the surface when my BCD is empty.
I heard you snortle when Charles said "shake it and it will come", Jes , go and sit on the naughty step young lady!

YT doesn’t let creators edit videos once they are posted, so our only option was to take it down and repost. Stinks because we lost the views, comments, and engagement of the first video. all of them make the very same videos "how is life on a sailboat" "the truth they dont they about living on a boat" "good vs bad about living on the sea"

why dont nobody make a video like :
