"How Much Are YOU Paid Then?!" | Ex-BBC Producer CLASHES With David Bull Over Broadcaster Payments

  • Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has said he is “committed” to the BBC and its TV licence fee.
    The annual fee faced years of scrutiny under the Conservative government, with it being frozen for two years at £159 before it was increased at a lower rate than the corporation expected, bringing the charge to £169.50 in April.
    Despite this, according to the BBC's annual report, the broadcaster lost around half a million licence fee payers year on year.
    At the end of the 2023-24 financial year, there were 23.9 million TV licences in effect, a drop of 500,000 from the 24.4 million at the end of 2022-23.
    David Bull clashes with ex-BBC producer John Mair over the decline of Brits paying the broadcaster's licence fee.
    John says: "It's about time the right stopped their culture war against the BBC, you've lost it!"
    David retorts: "It's not over if 500,000 people aren't paying!"

    Simply cancel your Direct Debits, don't waste your time contacting the BBC to 'declare no licence needed' as you are not legally obliged to inform/talk to anyone at the BBC/TVL or fill in any forms (it just helps BBC admin which they use to delay you). If you do fill out their forms or talk to them they have one purpose - to be so vague and misleading that they make you doubt your legal right to cancel.
    Then sit back and read with amusement the ever desperate monthly letters as they behave like an unhinged clingy ex! - they'll send fake threats of 'Visit Authorised', 'under investigation' and 'last chance to get licensed' to scare you into buying a licence you don't require - just ignore/bin these comical, misleading begging letters from an organisation that still thinks its the 1950's and it has some sort of legal authority. Utter shame on the UK Government for allowing the BBC an exemption to send harassing mail to those obeying the law (ask your MP why they allow it!).
    Join the half million people a year now reaching their lightbulb moment and cancelling!
    In the very unlikely event a salesman visits DO NOT talk to them - even to give your name, just say 'not interested' and close the door to these commission based sales people who are probably ex traffic wardens - they have no legal rights/powers whatsoever despite what they may tell you/imply with their flashy lanyard! Just watch catch-up services (who watches live now anyway?) and no iPlayer (again, no loss as it's just preachy dross) and bingo, you saved yourself £169 every year - it is SO easy! Remember if you listen to Radio (by anyone, even the BBC!) then no licence needed.

    • @ShanePalmer-yo4og
      @ShanePalmer-yo4og Před měsícem +2

      The easiest way, which I did, is cancel your Direct debit. Then inform TV Licencing that they have NO "presumed Legal Right of Entry" to your property. Do this in writing, and, as I did, copy your MP into this. They can no longer even step onto your garden path without breaking the law themselves and they know this. I received a letter back from them confirming that they were aware I had revoked the "Presumed Right of Entry" and they would not contact me for 2 years. And then only to ask if my position has changed. I also received a letter from my MP to confirm that he had also written to TV Licensing and was aware of the position, telling me that if I did have any further issues with them (TV Licencing) I could contact him and he would take the matter up for me. I've now had something like 4 years of peace and quiet with NO contact from TV Licencing at all......
      I would also suggest that you check out the BAREBACK BARRISTER CHANNEL on You Tube, as he gives the correct legal position you can follow - which I did.....

      I don’t like the BBC but you probably need to go back to school and retake maths classes. The BBC has a lot more output than itv. It funds LDR reporters, runs radio stations, international services etc etc etc etc. Whether they should with our money is another matter but you’re comparing apples to oranges.

So, to be absolutely clear, the BBC is a public service broadcaster, paid for through a licence fee and funded by the general public. And he thinks its a good idea to not publish their salaries and hide them away from us....the people who bloody pay them !!!!
    Now this might be almost acceptable in a privately owned and funded company.....although I have a suspicion that the shareholders would want this information.....but it is definitely not acceptable for a publicly owned entity. What planet are these clowns on . I do despair !
